Chapter 43 Chapter 43 - How Will I Confront Him?

"Did you quarrel with Sir Nikolai?" Ella inquired.
"Tell me how I am going to deal with Nicks' real dad." As I sat and still could not move much.
"What? Is Sir Nikolai Nicka's real father?" Ella stood up.
"He is Nicka's father. I went to Doctor Dani's house. And there I discover everything.
And I think Nikolai already knows the whole truth." My tears trickled.
"Oh my God! Eve, I know everything you have been through so I understand you.
Whatever your decision might be, I will support you." she sat down next to me.
There is a knock. Then the door opened.
"Mommy!" And Nicka runs closer to me.
"Baby, who is with you?" I still cannot move much.
"I am with Daddy!" she answered and Ella sat her down beside me in the bed.
I got anxious. Has Nikolai already told Nicka everything?
Nikolai came in with food and fruits.
"Have you eaten?" He implored.
Is he taking off to act as nothing happened?
I will let the events come about first. Nicka is here. And one more thing, I do not feel well enough to discuss with him.
"How are you, Mommy?" Nicka was worried.
"Mommy's just getting better. I am feeling fine." I held her hand.
"We are troubled about you. Here, Grandpa and Grandma told me to give you this." And she took something from her pocket.
I glanced at Nikolai. He smiled. He was the one who tortured me for a long time.
I am frightened every day that Nicka might suddenly disappear from me.
I am afraid that no one would accept me for being a single mother.
I am scared that one day I might not be able to give Nicka a better future.
The reality is not something that, he just smiles at me and kisses me and it is all over.
"Tadahhh..." Nicka said with a ring on her palm.
"Oh? Why do you have a ring like that?" I startled.
"This is from Grandma and Grandpa. It is a ring with clear crystal stone," she replied.
"Mommy said clear crystals are considered a master healer. Clear crystals are claimed to help stimulate the immune system and balance out your entire body. It might help you." Nikolai explained.
Nicka took my hand. Then she also reached for Nikolai's hand.
"Daddy put it to Mommy." And she handed Nikolai the ring.
Then he put the ring on me. I did not speak. I just looked at the ring.
Ella later bid goodbye. She will bring Nicka home. There are a lot of diseases here in the hospital.
Silence prevailed over Nikolai and me. I closed my eyes and bluffed to be asleep.
I felt him approach and stroke my hair. It is murdering me! Why is he so kind to me?
I do not know how to avoid him and drive him away. He smooched me on the forehead.
Unbeknownst to me, I had fallen asleep forever.
I slowly sat up when I woke up. Nikolai instantly supported me. All right, I am willing because I need help. There is a knock.
"Eve!" The newcomer.
Luigi came up to me and fondled me.

"I am sorry! I am worried." Said Luigi.
"It is fine! It does not hurt anymore." I said lying.
And I turned my eyes to Luigi. Later I glanced at Nikolai. He is pouting badly.
"Do you want to eat?" Luigi asked.
"She is still full," Nikolai answered.
"All right, Luigi, I will eat." And I looked sharply at Nikolai.
He shrugged. I thought Nikolai is leaving because I am making good moments with Luigi. But he stayed in my room.
Later, Dr. Peralta, my attending physician came over. And I was stunned he had companions.
"Eve, how are you?" Mommy Vina implored.
"We are fearful about you." Daddy Ramon let out.
"Uncle, Auntie, Eve is getting better." Dr. Peralta clarified.
"Kenny is a promising physician. He is one of the bests." Daddy Ramon's litany.
"I have good news. Eve can go home today. But still, you need to rest. I suggest you do bed rest.
And most of all, I advise that someone should look after you." Dr. Peralta addressed me.
"Yes, Doctor. Thank you." I said weakly.
"You were lucky. You only got minor injuries. Next time, put your seatbelt on when you drive.
It is good that your beautiful face isn't even scratched. The wound on your forehead is superficial.
I will just prescribe an ointment so you do not get scars." He deciphered.
I bobbed.
Dr. Kenny went out.
"Eve, we will bring you to our house. So that we can look after you and Nicka as well." Daddy Ramon said unexpectedly.
Do they already know the truth? Will they take Nicka from me?
"I want to go to my house. I will send Ella home first. And Luigi, they will keep an eye on me." I turned to Luigi.
"Ella cannot take care of you. She will handle everything you leave behind while you recover." Nikolai retorted.
"Eve, I cannot be with you either. I have a conference tomorrow in Cebu.
I will be there for five days. I am sorry!" Luigi clarified.
"We will take care of Eve and Nicka." And Mommy Vina grabbed my hand.
Why can't I refuse them? Their intention is simply pure and sincere.
What will I do? I have no other excuse.
"I will just go to the billing station," Nikolai mumbled.
"Wait, here is my card to pay for the bill." And I reached for my wallet which was just on the side.
He just glanced and left.
"Eve, I will get going. I need to prepare for my trip. I will visit as soon as I arrive." Luigi bid goodbye.
"Thank you!" I smiled.
"We insist, you get well at home. You need someone to look after you and of course Nicka." Mommy Vina told likewise.
"All right!" I mumbled.
My mind says no way. My mouth still followed what my heart said.
I cannot suppress them. They have been so good to me and Nicka even though we are just new acquaintances to them.
Even though they did not know that I am working for their son.
Even though they do not know yet that Nicka is their real granddaughter.
After Nikolai arranged my discharge papers, he went back to the room. The couple went down to the cafeteria just in time to buy something to eat.
"Do you need to change clothes?" He inquired.
I just nodded. I should not have come home in a hospital gown! He opened my bag.
"Wait, just call the nurse to assist me." I felt ashamed.
My underwear is in the bag.
"There is a code blue outside. There is no one at the Nurses Station. I will close my eyes. I won't look." And he grinned.
Why is he smiling and acting like nothing is happening?
"Give me the bag. I will get what I am going to wear." And I shifted my gaze.
I still cannot move my neck.
"What do you need? The black undies?" Nikolai begged.
"Aaahhhhh... how did you know?" I got irritated,
"It fell. Are you looking for this?" And he showed it to me.
I abruptly grabbed my undies. He is making me nuts!
I told him to turn around so I could change my clothes.
"Ahhh... Ahhhh..." I moaned softly.
"Can you do it alone?" he asked.
He suddenly moved toward me and hooked my brassiere.
My heart thumps even quickly. I yanked the dress I am going to wear.
"Let me help you!" he pleaded.
I still insisted on wearing my dress. I passed it on my foot.
"Oh... Ow..." I got out of balance.
Fortunately, Nikolai caught me quickly. Why is it that the more I avoid him, the closer I get to him?
Nikolai supported me. Why can't I proceed?
He hoisted my dress. Then Nikolai stood up. He plops his face on mine. I held my gust. I am not glancing at him.
"Do not be so stubborn!" he murmured.
I felt his hand crawl on my arm. He adjusted the strap of my dress.
Goosebumps! My whole body is tingling as well. He stroked the zipper of my dress. And he almost nuzzled me too.
I despise him so I should not be thrilled.
"Ooops, Nicks, let Eve get well first." Daddy Ramon came in without us being aware.
"No, no we are not doing anything!" My answer.
I barely pushed Nikolai away.
"Get well soon!" I know Mommy Vina is grinning.
Her voice was pleased. And instead of Nikolai walking away, he still came over and continued to close my dress.
"It is done, Princess!" He muttered.
I rolled my eyes. I have done nothing. They took me home so they brought me to their house.
Nicka and Ella were already there when we got home.
What will happen when I stay here?
How do I confront Nikolai?
Nicka and I will only get closer to them.
