Chapter 81 Chapter 81 - Try To Listen

Paul's family reunion night went well. It was almost morning when it was over. Paul immediately decided to take me to the Garden of Leto. While on our way, I checked on my phone to call Ella to let her know that I am coming. I saw five miscalls from her. Why would she call me several times?
"Is there something wrong?" Paul asked when he noticed I was silent.
I told him and he hurried so we could go back to the Garden of Leto because there might be an emergency. When we arrived, I promptly got out of Paul's car and instantly looked for Ella. I told Paul to go home so he could rest.
"Why are you calling? What happened?" I begged promptly.
"About Nicka," foreword by Ella.
"What went on to Nicka?" I was suddenly worried.
"After you and Paul left last night, Nikolai also hurriedly decided to go back to Manila with Nicka. I can not stop him because he is Nicka's dad. Nicka is crying but she also has no choice but to go with them." Ella seems to be stressed out because of what arose.
"I could not hear my phone because of the party. Why did he decide to depart suddenly? They have to stay here for two more days. Fritz should still have a proposal for him." I inquired.
"It looks like Nikolai got jealous of Paul. Then perhaps he does not wish that proposal to come about because he does not love Fritz." Ella mumbled softly.
"How can you say he does not love Fritz? He got Fritz pregnant and they will have the child anytime soon." I shrugged.
"We talked last night outside. Nikolai told me everything. You do not even want to believe and listen to him. Mela is Nathan's friend, and she is Fritz's companion that night. They met and got barfly. Nikolai did not come off to remember what transpired because he was so drunk. He wanted to forget you even for one night. He suffered a lot from your loss.
He just woke up that he was in another room. And since then Fritz has been chasing after him. The woman conducted a Paternal DNA Test for the baby and Nikolai as proof. But he is wondering why he has no fondness for the child in Fritz's womb? So he is having a hard time now." Ella's storytelling.
Unconsciously, I stroked my mouth. Why didn't I even listen to Nikolai's explanation? I do not Fritz so well but I however reckoned in everything that she told me. I knew Nikolai better and wished I had listened to him. Nicka was also affected when I neglected her dad.
"Nicka also admitted that Fritz talked to her. If Nicka could persuade Nikolai to go on vacation, she would bring Nicka back to you. She has to tell Fritz where you were and Nicka did not know that Fritz had a terrible plan." she declared again openly.
"It means, Fritz called me knowing that I am the surrogate mother of Nicka and she told me a lot of fibs. She wanted me to believe that Nikolai loves her and got her pregnant because of that love. I am a nitwit so I did not even imagine that possibility. I chose not to buy Nikoilai's reasons when he told me that they had a one-night stand and nothing follows. Even Nicka was hurt because of what is arising to me and her dad." my chest tightened at the sudden pain it felt.
"I think you need to speak to Nikolai again. And I hope you listen to what he has to say." Ella's recommendation.
"How was Nicka? Did she cry too much? My baby is miserable." I felt sorry for Nicka.
"She was weeping because she did not like to come with them and she said she would wait for you to come back. But Nikolai was very disgruntled with Fritz. That woman said, they must surprise her dad. So Nicka kept it a secret that they are coming here. Yes, Fritz played a fool on you both." Ella recalled what Nicka had told.
"I need to call them. I do not know Nikolai's contact number. I have to know if Nicka is still crying." I was so devastated by the revelations.
"Calm down, Eve. It is better if you just call Nicka when they are in Manila. Just call Aunt Vina again. How was the reunion?" Ella changed our topic.
"Everything was fine. They know I am Paul's girlfriend except for Phil and Aunt Darcie. Things seem to get worse. Just because I do not comprehend how to listen. I always ignore Nikolai." I wish to cry because of the stupidity I have done.
"You better rest in the meantime. You have not slept yet. When you wake up, call Nicka. And try to make a way for you to reach out to Nikolai." Ella's advice again.
I just did what she urge me to do. I also can not think straight now because my brain is floating. My thoughts are diverse. What Ella asserted about the truth between Nikolai and Fritz. Nicka left while weeping because she was waiting for me. Paul's clan knew I am his girlfriend.
Their Point-of-Views
"What did you say to your daddy?" Fritz implored Nicka.
They reached the mansion and Nikolai instantly left Fritz because he is so hysterical at her. Nicka went down to look for her Grandma Vina but she could not find her right away.
"I just told my dad the truth. Mommy said it is bad to lie so I did the right thing." Nicka rationalized with Fritz.
"Nikolai should have just left you with your mom. You are a great obstacle for Nikolai and me. You are an annoying kid!" almost aloud Fritz announced.
"Probably, daddy still loves mommy so he does not like you," Nicka let out softly.
"What did you say? Repeat what you said!" and Fritz grabbed Nicka's arm.
"Aunt Fritz, I am getting hurt!" Nicka grumbled.
"The next time you do not follow what I say, I will hurt you more. I will tell your dad to bring you the orphanage because we are going to have our child." Fritz slightly jerked Nicka's hair.
Nicka could do nothing but cry. Fortunately, Fritz left. When Vina arrived she was still sobbing.
"Nicka, why are you crying?" Vina asked promptly.
"Grandma, please call mommy. I want to talk to her." she pleaded.
"What is wrong? What happened?" while Vina finds her cellphone in the bag.
And soon Eve's phone rang.
Phone ringing...
I woke up to the incessant ringing of my cellphone. When I saw Mommy Vina calling, I immediately answered it.
"Mommy!" Nicka uttered.
"Nicka, I should have called you but I do not have your daddy's contact number. Are you okay? I am sorry if Mommy was not able to come home right away. Are you still crying?" when I heard her sob.
"Mommy, Aunt Fritz is mad at me for what I told Daddy." Nicka's statement.
"What did she do to you? Do not be afraid, tell Mommy." I tried to encourage Nicka.
"She hurts me. She said, she will persuade Dad to bring me to an orphanage and they are going to have a child. So Mommy, get me here. I do not want to live in an orphanage." Nicka pleaded even more.
"Do not believe her! She cannot bring you to an orphanage. I will be there!" I assured her.
I felt instant wrath when Nicka said that Fritz had hit her. I never once laid a hand on Nicka. I am not spoiling her but talking to a child nicely can be a form of discipline than striking them physically. I went out of my room to look for Ella and ask if she would come with me when I go back to Manila. I will take Nicka and I will discuss with Nikolai. That Fritz does not deserve Nicka and Nikolai.
"Nathan?" when I saw a man standing in the reception area.
"Oh my! Eve! Where is Ella? I need to talk to her." said Nathan after he hugged me.
"Someone is looking for me." the newcomer who had not seen yet Nathan spoke.
I smirked at Nathan. He turned to Ella and hastily fondled my friend.
"Nathan?" Ella begged.
"Baby, I miss you so much. Thank you and I found you again." Nathan exclaimed.
"Why are you calling me baby? Why are you here?" Ella asked but felt delighted as well.
"Of course, to apologize to you. And I want to say that nothing has changed with my feelings. You are still the one I love. And Mom and Dad are already waiting when I will introduce you to them." Nathan deciphered.
"Do you have a car?" I inquired Nathan.
"Of course, why?" Nathan asked frowning.
"We are going back to Manila today." I made a quick decision.
"I have just arrived to reconcile with Ella and then we will go back to Manila?" Nathan scratched his head.
"Ella will come with us so that you can introduce her to your parents. We will just arrange the things and we will leave. Have coffee first so you do not fall asleep while driving." I held Ella's hand so we could go to our room together.
Ella and Nathan have harmonized, their problem is not as complicated as my difficulty. I could see that they still love each other very much. I have to take Nicka into that witch's hand. I do not want Nicka to live in fear.
