"What if Nicka's daddy comes back?" Nicks asked as we sat on his divan.
"That is unlikely to happen," I said shaking.
"What if he takes Nicka?" He has another question.
"No one can get Nikolette away from me. She is only a child. And as her mother, I can still decide for her.!
Looks like you have a lot more to do. I hope you are fine!" I stood up and bid goodbye.
Then I left Nicks' office.
I went to Ella.
"Ella, do you remember my previous bank account? When I was still pregnant?" As I faced my cellphone.
"Is it the one from Nicka's parents?" Ella begged.
"Yes! I received a text message from the bank. It says that money came into that account." While I was reviewing the message I received.
Ella picked up my phone and read the message.
"What? You have received One Hundred Thousand Pesos!" Ella was amazed.
"Why did the money was sent in here again?" I am wondering.
"Nicka's parents probably did it. Only they know that account, right?" Ella's conclusion.
What is their purpose? Are they planning to take Nicka back from me?
Apprehension enveloped my whole spirit. Will they take Nicka?
I immediately went to the bank the next day.
"Ms. Eve, can I have a photo with you?" The teller immediately said and faced me.
You accepted her suggestion right away.
"Where is Manager Yhin?" My simple question.
She accompanied me to the Manager's office.
"I just want to know who sent money to my account." My introduction.
"I am afraid, I cannot tell you. It is confidential, Ms. Eve." Manager Chin said.
"Or can I just close this account?" I asked again.
"It is okay! You just have to transfer the money. Let us make it zero balance then we close it." she advised.
I immediately closed the account.
I went to Doctor Dani's house. I rang the doorbell.
"Hello!" my greetings to the one who opened the gate.
"Wow! Eve? Eve Lopez." The woman implored.
I told her my purpose. Indeed, one of Doc Dani's children lives here.
Shali is living in the house.
"Eve, how are you?" And she hugged me.
Shali and I are almost the same age and she has been kind to me even before.
"Shali, I am fine. How about you?" I also asked her.
"Here, I am getting married soon. You know, if Daddy is alive I am sure he is your number one fan." she led me inside.

I said what I needed. We entered Doctor Dani's office inside their house.
"All right, Eve, I will leave you first. My fiance is coming today. I will just get ready." She bid goodbye.
I nodded.
I will start looking at Doctor Dani's papers.
"Doctor Dani, help me find out the truth!" When I talked to his photo.
I searched in the bookshelves. I saw nothing but books.
I scoured the drawers. Nothing is in there too.
I moved toward his table. I also opened the drawers. It is almost empty.
"This! But it is locked." I searched for the key.
I saw some keys and tried them one by one.
Alas, it opened. I saw a folder.
"Everlee Legazpi!" I read the name written here.
I felt an immediate trepidation. Is that it?
Will I ever know the truth? I let out a profound gust before I opened the folder.
"Surrogate Mother: Everlee Legazpi. Mother: Ge-Genina La Marcus. Father: ... Niko-Nikolai La---La Marcus." as I read the information.
I feel like I am going to lose consciousness. My chest is too rigid.
Is this all true? I sat down.
I slowly relaxed. This could be a mistake.

Nothing has altered in writing. The names of Nikolai and Genina are listed here.
How did Nikolai do this to Nicka?

"What happened?" When Nikolai arrived at the hospital.
"Sir Nikolai, she got an accident," Ella announced.
"Where is Eve? What happened?" he worriedly repeated his question.
"He is still in the emergency room. The accident was not extremely terrible. So calm down, Sir!" Ella elucidated.
"Calm down? Eve got an accident! How can I calm down?" He grabbed his head.
The doctor told them that Eve has been transferred to her room.
"Eve!" At the same time, Nikolai moved toward Eve while she was still asleep.
"Who is Ms. Eve's family?" Question of the doctor.
"We are her family!" Ella answered promptly.
"Doctor, is it serious? Why is she wearing a neck brace?" Nikolai asked.
"She is suffering from a neck injury and whiplash. Her soft tissues got injured so she had to wear a neck brace.
She drove without a seatbelt so her injuries were quite serious. But do not worry, she is fine.
I already gave her an injection. She needs to rest first and be observed here in the hospital." The doctor explained.
"How about her head?" Nikolai begged again because Eve had a bandage on her forehead.
"I already conducted a CT scan just to make sure it is nothing serious. The wound on her forehead was bleeding.
It is a good sign. But still, let us wait for the CT scan result." the Doctor answered.
"Thanks, Doctor!" Said Ella.
And he came out of Eve's room.
"Why did she get the accident?" Again Nikolai turned to Ella.
"I do not know that she will drive and go away alone.
When I went to her house, she was gone. She instructed Mama to go there early for Nicka.
Then someone called me and informed me about her accident. Those who saw it said that she was driving quite fast.
She avoided the crossing dog so she banged into a tree. I am still grateful that this is not that serious." Ella narrated.
"Does she have a problem? She will not leave alone if she is okay" Nikolai held Eve's hand.
"Sir, I am sorry, did you fight?" Ella returned Nicks a query.
"We did not fight! I have been so busy these past couple of days so we do not see each other much." He clarified.
"What is wrong with my friend? She was devastated. She got an accident and for sure the people will gossip about the possible reason for her tragedy." she mumbled sadly.
"Let us not let the press know that she was brought here. I want her to get well. I will take care of it." And he bussed Eve's hand.
"Aaahhhh! Aahhhh!" I yanked my neck when I felt discomfort.
"Eve!" I heard two voices at once.
I deliberately opened my eyes.
"What happened? My neck hurts. Even my head." I implored.
"You had an accident, Eve! But the doctor said that you only got minor injuries.
So take a break. Just cool down." Ella approached me.
"Eve, how do you feel?" And Nikolai clasped my hand.
I instantly withdrew it. And I took my eyes off him. I turned to Ella.
"Where is Nicka?" I begged Ella.
"She is with Mama. Do not bother about Nicka." Ella eased my heart.
"I will look after Nicka. I will take her home first so she can have someone with her.
Are you okay?" Nikolai came over and stroked my hair.
"Ella, can Aunt Ellie sleep at home first? So she can accompany Nicka!" I turned to Ella again.
"Yeah, I will tell Mama to sleep with Nicka."Ella conceded.
"She can stay with Mom and Dad. I will watch over you here." Nikolai announced.
"No! Nicka is not coming to your house. And can you leave now?" I let out calmly.
"What is wrong? Eve, I would not be comfortable at home while you are here in the hospital." He took my hand.
"Go away! Get out!" I felt my tears drip.
I cannot look at him! I am in so much pain. It was even more severe than the injuries I sustained.
"What have I done?" He also asked calmly.
"Get out," I shouted.
"Aaahhhh... aaahhhh..." and my neck hurt again.
"Sir Nikolai, you might better leave first. The doctor said that Eve needs to rest.
I will call you. I will be in charge of Eve." Ella spoke to him.
"Okay! Please! Get well. I will take care of the press." Nikolai turned to Ella.
"Do not you ever come near Nicka!" I reminded him.
Nikolai just nodded. He even glanced at me before he finally left my room.
"Eve, Eve!" Ella came to me and caress my back.
And I fondled her when she got close to me. I do not mind the discomfort in my neck and forehead.
This heart of mine is crushed to pieces. It was as if I had been assassinated over and over again.
And I do not know how I am going to live again.
