Chapter 35 Chapter 35 - Prevention Is Better Than Cure

"Oh, why? Who are you to Eve?" Luigi approached Nikolai.
"Wait! If you plan to fight here in my house, you can both leave now.
If you intend to stay then stop it!" I scolded them both.
I could finally speak up!
"Let us talk outside!" And again Nikolai took my hand.
"Stay here, Eve!" And Luigi took my other hand.
"Release my hands," I ordered them.
They did not comply with my order.
"Nicks, Luigi" I reprimanded them again.
They are staring at each other as if they could each other in whole.
I forced them to remove their grip.
"Oh! There! You two should talk!" And I pulled them both closer to each other.
I stepped aside from Ella and Nathan.
Ella gestured that I am so pretty for the two of them to fight over me.
"Where is Nicka?" Nicks asked.
"She is asleep!" And I struggled.
"Come on, Guys. Nicka is asleep and we should not make noise.
We would better continue the game. Whoever loses, you will choose from truth or dare." Nathan suggested.
He also noticed that the two were getting aggravated with each other.
"Game! Luigi, Sir Nikolai, let us just respect Eve's house." Ella said immediately.
"All right, it is just for fun. Set aside the fire!" Nathan insisted.
I want us all to just have fun and enjoy the night. I do not want them to quarrel anymore. In the first place, why are they fighting with each other?
"Game!" And I changed my mood.
I smiled.
Nicks and Luigi did nothing but join the game.
All I wish is to diminish the tension between the two of them.
My brain is already occupied with so much stuff and I want to loosen up for a while.
"Baby, you lose! Truth or dare?" Ella asked Nathan.
"Dare!" Nathan replied.
"Hhhhmmm because I am the winner, I will be the one to command you!" I said thinking of what to order him.
"Kiss Ella on the lips for fifteen seconds." I was thrilled to say.
"Just fifteen seconds, could it be a minute?" Nathan kidded.
"Kiss, kiss!" I cheered them.
Then he kissed Ella without hesitation. It looks like I am the only one who is fascinated.
Nikolai and Luigi are still in silence.
"You lose, Dude. Truth or Dare?" Nathan implored Nikolai.
"Truth!" He replied with reluctance.
"Because I am the winner, I will be the one to ask you a question." Said Luigi.
Ella, Nathan, and I glanced at each other.
I hope this will not end up in a fight again.
"Who is your first love?" Luigi suddenly begged.
Nicks could not speak.
"Tell them, Dude, Eve already knows." Nathan cheered for his friend.
Nikolai looked at me.
"Who is it? Is it hard to answer?" Luigi begged.
"Sir Nikolai, answer that question! Just take it easy!" Ella gagged.
"I will answer for him! Nikolai is having a hard time speaking." I glimpsed at him.
"She is Genina!" I stared at him.
"Yes, Genina is my first love. We were married." He confirmed.
"What? You are outrageous! You are married but you are treating Eve differently." Luigi said angrily.
"She is gone. She died three years ago." Nikolai added.
"But you still love her! You will not just relinquish your feelings for your first love! Based on my experience." Luigi gazed at me.
"What do you know about my feelings?" Nikolai implored.
"I am similar to you too! Until now I still love my first love.
So I am sure, the way you give special treatment to another woman now is just your hoax." Luigi's litany.
I could see in Nikolai's eyes that it was very difficult for him to confirm or refute what Luigi had let out.
I do not want to see him suffer. I will not admit my feelings for him. I do not wish to mess with him anymore.
I do not desire to insist on my love for him. I cannot bear to see him in agony.
I have recalled Kisses' advice to me in the past. She told me not to believe Nikolai. He will just leave me after getting what he desires from me.
"Oh! This is enough! Maybe we should end up our game.
I will just prepare something for us to eat." I tried to organize myself.
I stood up.
"Come on, Luigi, help me!" I told him as if nothing happens.
And he stood up quickly. I sliced ??lime for the siomai (a traditional Chinese pork dumpling) that I had previously steamed.
I could not stop my tears from slumping. I am hurting without Nikolai knowing it.
Why can't he just turn his feeling to me?
Why can't he just love me too?
I have been asking those in my mind and now I know the answer.
Tears welled up in my eyes.
I wiped it off immediately.
"Ahhhh!" I groaned when I felt pain.
"Eve!" Luigi called.
"Why?" They suddenly emerge.
Nikolai abruptly took my hand. He quickly put it in his mouth to stop the bleeding.
I cried again!
Why is he so kind to me? I assumed that Nikolai has special feelings for me because of his compassion.
Why would he kiss me for nothing? Every time he does it am I the one in his mind?
Or is Genina however what he imagines?
"Does it still hurt?" He begged.
I sobbed even more because I felt so sorry for myself.
I wish I could say goodbye to him forever.
I cannot help it anymore.
This is my first heartbreak with the opposite sex.
Only now have I felt this way about a man. Why should I continue if I know I will be hurt and rejected in the end?
That is why he cannot like Kisses either because he still loves Genina.
My shoulder was shaking from crying.
"It hurts! I am feeling bad about it!" I said with my eyes closed and I sobbed.
"EVe, did you cut your finger?" When Ella heard me.
I pulled Nikolai's hand away and hugged Ella.
"It is extremely painful!" I whispered to her
"Give it to me, let me treat it!" Said Ella.
Hopefully, a band-aid can alleviate the pain I feel.
Hopefully, when this wound dries, all the suffering will be over.
Life will offer you many choices. But you cannot get everything you want.
Life is not that susceptible. And you do not always get lucky.
At the TvN8 Station...
I have finished my taping and I went straight to the wardrobe room.
"Is Eve in here?" I heard Nikolai ask.
"Sir Nikolai, she is inside and getting dressed!" Bambi replied.
I relaxed deeply.
Perhaps, he fled and went back to his office.
I went out of the wardrobe room after getting dressed.
"Let us eat together!" a voice that I heard.
I was caught in my chest.
"I am going home!" I refused.
"I will bring you home!" He suggested furthermore.
"Nicka is at Aunt Ellie's house. I have to go there and fetch her." I told an untruth.
Then I walked away.
"Wait! Are you avoiding me?" He held my arm.
"No! I am just tired from work! I want to rest." I withdrew my arm.
I just want some space. I do not want to talk to him and see him every day.
I am only having a harder time. It is said that prevention is better than cure. So I will just resist Nikolai.
I have to do it while I still have time to fix my broken heart.
"Let me bring you to Aunt Ellie." He again asserted.
"Brother Ricco is waiting for me at the parking lot." And I kept stepping.
I left Nicks.
I fibbed to him.
I went straight home.
Instead of thinking, I just arranged the house, and then Nicka and I watched Moana. Even though she has almost memorized its lines.
Nicka and I sang together the theme song of the movie. To our surprise, there was a round of applause.
"That is great!" He announced.
"Uncle Nicks, did you hear it? Are we promising singers?" Suddenly Nicka stood up and moved toward Nicks.
"Yes! You are both good singers!" And he glanced at me.
I move to seat properly because I just threw myself on the settee.
I am wearing only a t-shirt and shorts for me to be comfortable.
Nicka returned to her seat. I stood up.
"How did you get in? I locked the gate and door." I hesitated to question him.
"You look seductive. I like you better when you are just at home wearing such kinds of clothes." he grinned.
"Hey! I am inside my house so I could wear whatever I want to wear. This is just ordinary clothes for me to look seductive." I sneered.
"It is better in my eyes. You have no make-up, no fancy accessories.
You are naturally lovely!
Wait, You lied! You said you were going to pass by Aunt Ellie's house." He also said softly.
I know Nicka is not busy wathching. She could be listening to our conversation.
