My Belle

Chapter thirteen
Ryder
The match ended quicker than I expected it to be.
And like usual, my team won.
I walk back to my car immediately, after changing my attire.
I feel anxious to meet Gwen. I wonder if she still remembers me. I mean it's a month already.
She will, it's not long since we last saw.
"Mr. Ryder!" Nancy calls and strides towards me.
I didn't want to wait a minute. So, I ignore her and walk to my car.
I enter the car and my phone rings. I delve into my pocket for the phone. It's Nancy calling. I look up, out through the window.
I press the receiver and ease the phone closer to my ear, "Hello," I look at Jacob, "Drive."
Jacob nods and pulls out of the stadium. I look up at Nancy's frustrated face.
She shouldn't be angry at me for today. I'm really in a haste to see Gwen. I won't jeopardize the opportunity.
"You need to meet with manager Bettley," her soft voice reminds me of Gwen.
" Tell her I will see her some other day," I tell her and hang up.
Jacob soon pulls up into Brew's street. I patiently wait for him to drive to Brew.
My phone vibrates again. I take it and it's a message from the Manager. I read through and smile.
The car pulls to a stop and I get down and started inside.
I take the secret door to the suites so I wouldn't have been seen by anyone in the restaurant.
I enter the elevator and press the fourth level. I walk faster towards my room where Steve told me Gwen would be.
I don't know why but my heart suddenly starts beating faster.
I've never been this anxious, especially with ladies.
I open the door slowly and look inside for Gwen.
When I can't really see her. I walk in and close the door behind me.
Gwen is on the chair, her eyes closed. I think she's sleeping. She sleeps so peacefully.
I move closer and behold the smile on her face.
She looks pale and stressed. Yet, she looks exceptionally beautiful.
Her beauty seems to captivate me more than I can say.
She mumbles some inaudible and tries to change her position. In the process, she was made fall.
I catch her quickly, supporting her body with mine. My heart skip a beat at the action.
Her hair falls back, making her face visible to me.
She didn't wake up. As far as I'm concerned, I don't think she even notice something happened.
I stay in the position for a while, still unable to bring myself to place her back on the chair.
Nevertheless, she continues to sleep comfortably.
Gosh, I don't know why I'm reacting so much to this lady. She seems to set my heart on fire.
My body vibrates with her touch.
No one has ever made me feel this way and it's weird.
I stand up with her in my hand. I walk to the bed and place her gently on it.
It seems like I won't be talking with her today. I will just let her rest. Maybe, we can talk tomorrow.
I take my phone and put a call across to Steve.
"Hello Ryder," Steve reply anxiously.
I sigh aloud. I don't even have his time right now.
"Can you get us some merriment? Also, I want someone to get me a female's wear."
"Oh yes. Be right back."
I hang up and drop my phone on the chair.
I take a pair of grey trousers and a t-shirt from my box.
I enter the bathroom and lock the door. I take a quick bath and wear the new clothes.
I feel so tired actually. I need to eat, then make some change of clothes.
I walk out in my dress and try drying my hair with the hair drier.
The telephone rings. I walk to it and pick it up.
"Yes, hello."
"All you asked of us is ready. Do you want us to come to your room right now?"
I look at Gwen briefly, " Yes do. And I will need a separate room," I say and the phone went off.
I wonder why a Brook daughter will be working at the restaurant.
I remember what Heidi was doing to her when I intervened the other time. I really want to hear her story.
I wonder what she has gone through.
But I won't allow it again. I will never let any harm come to her ever again. And I will never forgive anyone that tries it, not even Heidi.
A soft knock sounds on the door. I walk to the door and open it slightly. I look at the attendants and open it widely for them.
Three ladies walk inside.
I look at them, " Change her dress. I will be with the manager so I don't disturb you."
They nod. I walk out, even though my hair is still wet.
I walk over to Steve's office. He has a lot to tell me about why he sacked Gwen. And why he was screaming at her the other time.
I'm sure Gwen must have cried. He made her bleed and I'm going to show him
"Didn't you hear?" A soft voice says.
I stop slightly and walk to a door opposite mine. There seem to be two ladies in there talking.
"I heard the manager sacked Gwen and later has to employ her," another soft voice but different from the first one says.
"I even heard he gave her triple of her salary."
A gasp, " I wish I was her."
The other lady hit her slightly, "I wouldn't. Gwen stole the manager's wristwatch. I will never be a thief."
What!?
" No! Gwen doesn't steal." The other lady protests.
What? Is that the reason he sacked her?
Something tells me this must be Heidi's work. But how did she do it?
I must find out. I will get to the bottom of it.
