Mimi is coming back

Chapter thirty-six
Ryder
I stay fixed to the spot for some seconds as I watch the doctor, "I thought I gave you clear instructions to discharge her yesterday. Where was she supposed to go?"
" Well, you can say it's entirely our fault. She said you told her she would get discharged by afternoon two days ago. And she threatened to leave the hospital on her volition."
" Also," he continues, " I tried your line but you didn't pick up."
And then it came to me at once, I was with Mimi when his call came through and I didn't want to pick it up in her presence especially when I knew it was because of Gwen.
I thought I was going to call back but I forgot. Jeez! What am I going to do?
I'm so heartbroken. Finally, Gwen is gone.
God, where should I start from? How do I know where she is?
I didn't even collect her number. I don't believe I didn't even do that.
I'm so screwed in all ways.
I walk out of the hospital and try to reason where she would go to. Damn! For how long do I want to accept that she doesn't have any family members to run to.
And I know she will never go back to her stepsisters. She would rather stay in the street than do that.
My drive home was the most boring and lifeless one I have ever had. I've never felt so miserable in my entire life.
It seemed like I'd lost something precious in my life. Something I might never be able to regain.
It took me a month to find her, I wonder how long it will take me to see her. Gosh, it could take forever.
I walk back to my bedroom and fall back on the bed. I'm as confused as something else. I don't even know the next course of action.
I can't even file a missing report because she didn't go missing. She left on her volition.
Then I remember I have to find houses to buy.
I pick up my phone to call someone, anyone that would sell me what I'm looking for.
Derek's call came through and I mistakenly hang up. I sigh, very much frustrated.
It wasn't even up to a minute when his call came through again. I pick it up this time, "Hello."
"You didn't want to pick my call right?"
I sigh, "It was a slip of the finger. Why did you call."
" Hmm," he went silent for a second, " Is there something I don't know? You should be able the third party in your relationship is gone. Why are you replying to me with such a sad tone?"
I sigh again, seriously fed up with my issues, " Gwen got discharged on her own and I don't even know how to locate her. Damn! I don't even have her phone number."
" I thought you said she doesn't have a family to run back to?"
I nod briefly, then remember he can't even see me, " Yes, that's why I'm so confused. Is there anything going up in your head because my head feels so blank?"
He chuckles, " You are feeling lovesick. The illness must have affected your thinking abilities. You were always so brilliant especially whenever you are on the court. You decide so quick like a flash," he laughs again.
I know that but somehow, these days issues have seriously been getting to my head. These days, I find it difficult to think clearly.
"Are you done abusing me? Should I hang up or do you have something else to say?"
"Sure, I have more. I wanted to ask you something. How close is Gwen and Mrs. Johnson?"
Do I even know? I have been able to see how well these two fit because I've been going from frying to fire these days and back to the frying pan.
There was no space for me to study their relationship.
"I don't seriously know."
"You are dumb! Anyways, is Mrs. Johnson back?"
" No, she's coming back tomorrow."
" Ok, let me give you some advice. Make sure you speak with Mrs. Johnson very well. Call it instincts but I feel Gwen went to her house. She must be the only one that can accommodate her."
"And well, she would want a place where you wouldn't be able to find her."
He sighs and pauses slightly. Jeez, he's making a lot of sense.
"If you aren't careful, Gwen will be gone."
I smile, as the pieces hit in quickly. Mrs. Johnson kept postponing her return. I knew something was wrong, I just didn't think it might have something to do with Gwen at all.
Maybe I was really lovesick. The only thing I've been thinking about is how Gwen sees me now. And I'm sure she hates my arse.
I've been thinking of what I would say to her and even how I would start my conversation when I get to the hospital. Now getting to the hospital only to realize she wasn't even there disrupted me totally.
"Hey!" Derek screams in my ear.
I jerk up, "Hey! Why did you scream?"
"I just said something but you were too busy imagining about your girl that you couldn't even reply."
" I'm sorry, what were you saying?"
" I said I have three nice houses. Each in a different location. You can come over and check whenever you are more settled."
I sigh, " Ok, no probs," I hang up before he would say more. I put a call across to Mrs. Johnson.
She picks up immediately, "Hello Ryder."
I clear my throat meaningfully, "Hmm, are you really coming tomorrow?"
"Oh yeah, is something wrong?"
" No," I say quickly, " I just wanted to speak with you."
"Alright, I will be back," she repeats.
I smile. I bet Gwen is beside her. I should take to her in private. I'm sure she will tell me Gwen's whereabouts. She would even let me see her.
"Alright, take care," I say to her. I wait for her response before hanging more.
I decides to go and check one of the houses Derek got for me.
I walk downstairs and see Lizzy setting the table. She looks up at me, "I thought you might want to eat before going out."
I nod slowly and walk to the dining table. After having my breakfast, I drive to Baron's street. Derek has sent me a picture of the house and the amount it is worth.
I loved the views and everything about the house. It even had a swimming pool and a sunroom. So, after checking around, I paid for it.
I felt so tired that I couldn't look into the other two houses.
When I returned home, it was almost six in the evening.
I dial Mr. Lawrence's line. He picks up immediately. I had already called him earlier and told him the flight that Mimi tool and when he should be expecting her.
"Thank you so much, Ryder. She's at home now. But after causing many scenes, she promised to book another flight over to your place tomorrow."
What!
" I'm not even at home currently," I tell him.
" Well, let her go to your house. I'm sure she will come back here if she confirms that you are not really at home. Because I kept telling her but she wouldn't listen to me," he explains.
I sigh," No problem sir, take care of yourself then."
" And you too."
And the line went off.
So, Mimi is planning to come here tomorrow. Damn! Why is she like this? I have to do something quickly.
We have to move out of the house before tomorrow.
I rush downstairs and knock at Lizzy's door. She opens the door and walks out.
"Is something wrong?" She gives me an innocent look. She has not been as funny as she used to be around me. I wonder what went wrong.
"Pack your loads, we are moving to a new house."
She raises a brow, "A new house?"
" Yes," I nod briefly, " And it must be tonight. If you have trouble getting all your stuff, then pack the important ones. You can always come back for the other ones."
I walk back to my room and decide on where to start. Jeez, Mimi can really give someone a headache.
I take my phone and dial Becky's line, 'Hello dear."
" Hi, Ryder. How are you doing?"
" Fine but I need your help. I need help getting my stuff out of my house right now."
This night?" She repeats.
"Yes, this night. I want it to get to my new house before morning. I will pay them double."
" Wow! That's nice, I will send some ladies and some men over immediately."
I nod briefly before hanging up. I move to my boxers section and pack all.
I have lots to pack. But I will just take the important ones. I might come back for the next.
I put a call across to Mrs. Johnson, "Hi, good evening. I'm sorry for calling this late. I'm relocating. So, I will send you the new address tomorrow."
" What? Why?"
I sigh, " it's because of Mimi."
