Chapter sixty-nine

After dropping Gwen off yesterday morning, I drove back home and found a guy to keep an eye on Heidi in case she tries nonsense again.
So, in one word, I and Gwen are now in a serious relationship.
I'm so happy. I feel like the happiest man on Earth.
I got home and decided to go to practice that evening.
And I scored more goals. Even the coach saw the changes in me.
I've been trying to manage myself to go to practice after the incident that occurred between me and Gwen.
But now, I feel so good.
It's morning again and I'm thinking of going to Gwen's house in the afternoon. I should sleep over.
Also, I'm planning on proposing to Gwen. I will just ask for her plans if she wants them while she's still in school or after.
Whenever it is, is fine by me. I just can't wait for her to have my baby.
Well, some pictures of me, Gwen, and Heidi surfaced yesterday just as I have expected.
But it didn't affect my contract especially because Gwen's status hasn't been confirmed. I will be confirming it on my birthday which is just a week and some days away. I'm anxious and seriously expecting it.
My phone rings suddenly. At first, I thought it was Gwen but when I pick it up, I realize it was the guy I gave the assignment to. The one I told to secretly spy on Heidi.
Is something up Heidi's sleeve?
I press the receiver, "Hello."
"Hello, I need to tell you this quickly. Heidi and her friends planned to lure Miss Gwen into the pool. I think they are going to drown her."
What! My heart made a sudden thud.
"Drown ?"
" Yes and she's on her way currently. I think you need to hurry."
" Follow her quickly. No matter what, nothing must happen to Gwen. And well, I'm also on my way."
" Alright," he says and the line went off.
I quickly pick a jeans trouser and a change of T-shirt.
I rush out of the house. What the fuck does she think she's doing? Gosh, she's about to commit murder.
I drive with speed towards the school. If anything bad happens to Gwen, I will make Heidi pay so dearly with her life.
I pull a call to Mark as I pull off at the school garage.
I knew I might not make it. Mark is in the right position to save Gwen if anything bad comes up.
He picks up immediately, "Hi, I'm heading inside now. She and Gwen just enter and she has run out again."
" Go in now! I'm on my way!' I scream at him, anxiously and angrily.
My breath was coming out heavily. It feels like I will soon stop breathing.
I run towards the school pool like my life depended on it like I'm going to win a trophy.
Actually, I'm looking forward to winning that trophy. The trophy I had bargained for all this while. The one I'm finally going to get.
I won't let anyone get it. Gwen is my little trophy,
When I ran inside the pool, Gwen was already out of the water but she wasn't responding to Mark's first treatment.
I rush forward immediately, "Call the ambulance!' I scream at him.
Why is he so clumsy for Christ's sake!
I pitch Gwen's nose, open her mouth, and breath air into her mouth. I tried it three times but she wouldn't budge.
My heart hammers wildly in my chest, realization hitting me slowly.
"The ambulance will be here soon," Mark says.
I look up at him, "I need the CCTV footage of this very pool. Find it immediately!" I say.
He runs out.
I will never forgive Heidi for doing this to Gwen. I will never.
I will make sure she and her mother go to jail for it!
Some men run in and I can only stare at them.
It feels like I have nothing in my head.
The moment she was taken to the bus, I turn around towards the VC office.
I didn't follow them as I have to solve this case.
Who knows? Heidi might be trying to wipe off the CCTV footage.
I will get it and bring her to justice.
The fear of losing Gwen grip me so hard that I nearly explode in tears.
Mark was speaking to the person in charge but she wasn't even listening to him.
I walk there quickly and he steps aside.
I turn to the old lady, "Are you the one in charge here?"
She nods briefly, "How may I help you, sir?"
" I need the CCTV footage of the pool."
"Why, if I may ask?" She asks softly which makes me angry somehow but I decide to answer her as calmly as I can.
"Someone attempted murder in the pool and I need it to arrest her."
" What?" She gasps, " But you will have to see the VC. You can't just demand it like that."
I take my phone and text the police. I look back at her scared face, " You seem like a stubborn type. I told you it's a murder case but you still don't want to give in? I've called someone that can help you out."
" What?"
" The policies are on the way. If care isn't taken, this school will be closed down."
She shivers and stares from Mark to me, " the footage of the pool right?"
I nod briefly, liking her new decision.
I don't care. I might have to lock the whole school if they don't give me what I want at the time that I want it.
