Chapter eight
Heidi POV
I cuss mentally and watch Ryder walkout. He seems to have discovered that it was Gwen he met that day.
Just how did that happen? I mean how could he trace her to my place?
And Dixie had to run her mouth about her. She's always a motormouth.
Her sister, Elsa can keep a secret better than her. The only reason I love her is that she's as brilliant as I am. Always saying what is on my mind even before I give it away.
I run after Ryder but he was too angry to look back. His expression was dark as he moves to the car swiftly.
I had to stay back and watch him enter his car. He looks up at me briefly and frowns, his dark expression set in again. Yet, he looks so handsome.
I wonder why I had to crush on someone like him.
I wouldn't take it, I won't let Gwen take him from me. I will do all I can to ensure Ryder comes back to me. He's mine already.
The gate opens almost immediately and my car drives in. A guy steps down and moves closer to me, "Here, Mr. Ryder wants us to deliver this car here," he stretches the key out to me.
I snatch it and rush inside. I'm so angry.
Elsa and Dixie are still rooted to the ground when I walk in.
"Heidi, I'm so sorry," Dixie says with a soft expression and I sigh.
I think I know what to do. The thing is I had already discovered where Gwen have been hiding.
I got a piece of information that she works at Rocks and Brews. And I'm going to make sure she gets disgraced and eventually gets sacked.
Rocks and Brews is a popular restaurant here with bars and hotels and suites. Imagine getting that kind of treatment before people that can take pictures and post them on the internet.
Then, I will sit and watch how Ryder will take the whole thing. I'm sure he wouldn't want to get involved with someone that has already been disgraced publicly.
Also, I have an advantage already. I've made a great deal in letting the world know I'm the main girl in Ryder's life.
That was what I wanted to do that made me go to the restaurant beforehand.
I made sure I call the crowd to my satisfaction. Out of the people that sat in the hall are agents I paid to take my pictures.
They were supposed to take relevant pictures and post them on social media.
That was why I had to peck Ryder the other time.
Soon, I will be addressed as Ryder's girlfriend. Perhaps, I will get interviewed.
Gosh, I can't wait for that.
I look at Dixie, "You girls will follow me somewhere tomorrow evening, do you understand?"
" Yes," they chorus.
" And you must never make the mistake you made now. Also, you must make it up to me, understand?"
Dixie pouts childishly, " Alright. I will do so.
My phone rings suddenly. I take it and walk out of the living room. I enter my room and press the receiver before I ease the phone close to my ear.
"Hello," I take a seat on the bed and cross my long tanned legs. I don't want to think about anything, I'm the most beautiful.
And I don't know why I have to fight man with Gwen. Ryder was mine from the start. I told her and she knew about it.
And I don't really understand what Ryder saw in her. I mean she might be beautiful but there's always a striking difference between us.
"The pictures are on social media already. By tomorrow, it will be in the magazine. I hope you are satisfied by our work."
I smile and nod slowly, then I realize he's unable to see me, " Very well, I will send you the rest of the money. I'm even planning on giving you extra bonuses for a job well done."
He laughs, " Thank you so much. Please, call us in the future for more business."
" Sure," I finish and hang up.
I walk to my wardrobe and select a short sleeveless gown. The dress I will wear to Brews tomorrow is ready. I need to give Gwen a taste of her medicine.
I also need to tell mom about the process. Well, mom supports me so much. Why wouldn't she? I'm her first child.
Gwen Brook is the only daughter of Rose but she passed away a long time ago. And since then, my mom has been taking care of her.
Before the foolish man died, he never bothered about anyone of us. He was way too heartbroken about his first wife.
He never worried about us too except Gwen. And mom had to pretend she was taking care of her whenever he was around.
And because he would leave for work so early before Gwen wakes up and would come back late at night, there was no way Gwen could talk to him.
There was even a day he stayed home and wanted to catch up with Gwen. Mom had to come up with a perfect plan that thwarted it.
Mom told Dad Gwen doesn't want to talk to him, that she's in fact still blaming her mother's death on him.
But in real fact, all he had for her were pity. Brook never hated Gwen.
And like that, they never talked. Mom also had to scare Gwen away so she wouldn't confront him directly. Most times, mom wouldn't give Gwen breakfast and she would like against Brook. Telling her it was Brook's instructions. And so, Gwen never tried to talk to her father.
I'm sure Gwen must have hated her father so much, even till now. Especially the fact that she was made to believe her father never left an inheritance for her.
But well, my father left the house in the other state for her. And she's of age to acquire it. Aside from that, she has some money in the bank.
Since mom doesn't want to give the house out, she kept the will secured in her room. And the money was kept safely in the bank for my future reasons.
Poor Gwen, she's destined to suffer.
And since mom has ended hers, I will start mine.
I've decided to let her be but that wouldn't happen because of Ryder.
