Chapter twenty-four
Ryder
My eyes went wider and darker with shock as I watch her in her underwear.
I take a step towards her and she screams again and tries to cover her cleavage. When I look down between her legs, she moves to cover it with her palms.
God, she was still screaming.
What should I do?
"Turn around!" She yells out.
I nod my head like a dummy and turn around, my heartbeat coming out so fast that I fear she might have heard it.
"What the fuck are you doing in a ladies' room? What if I had stripped off completely?" Her voice shook with great tremor to it.
I smile, pleased yet surprised at myself. Do I think I might be able to stop myself if she wants to give herself to me right now?
No! I won't stop, I will have her whole.
And she has nice boobs. Damn! She has a great assets.
"You can turn around now," she whispers, the dread was gone from her voice. And she has regained back her composure.
I turn around slowly. I look at her. She's looking everywhere but me.
"I look at her wine-stained dress, " Are you alright? Did something happen?"
She looks at the stain and smiles up at me, "Yes, Lizzy did this to me. She drank a lot."
Oh. No wonder I didn't hear her come in.
If she wasn't drunk, she would have rushed in because Gwen really screamed. And well, Mrs. Johnson isn't around. Well, if she is, she will understand and wouldn't spoil things for me.
Only Mimi wouldn't and that would cause a lot of trouble for me.
I couldn't give her an answer the other time. I was even too shocked to say a word. And I still had to think of the fact that I have to think of what to say to stop Gwen from having bad thoughts about me.
What if she now thinks I have a girlfriend? Damn! I don't believe Mimi will spoil things for me in such away.
I was trying so hard to make her look at me!
"Since you are in my room, you should sit," she says softly, bringing me out of my thoughts with a sudden thud. She drags some big paper bags with her and gently place them beside her bed.
I smile and turn around, walking to the only chair in the room. I can hear her soft steps behind me as I take a seat and turn to look at her already on the bed.
She's cuddled together and I realize she's still not free with me.
I peep into the big bag,"Did you get something for yourself?"
"Yes, though it was Lizzy that selected them all."
"Did she say this line?" I say catching her attention and forcing her to look at me, "Spend this money?"
She chuckles, "How did you know? She said it!"
I laugh too, pleased at the fact that I know my maids more than anything else.
"Well, she's always telling me that. She will be like Ryder, when will you increase the salary? And whenever I tell her I don't know. She will reply by telling me to spend my money."
Gwen burst out laughing really hard, I join in.
"She's so funny," she comments in midst of the cracks.
I remember those times when she was always so clingy, always telling me to spend my money. It was Mrs. Johnson that scolded her and made her stop.
The reason why I didn't want to sack these people is that they do give me a reason to laugh sometimes. I like the way they joke and also get serious.
"Do you know what Mimi does?" I say and feel the same disappear off her face.
"You shouldn't be talking about your girlfriend in such a way," she whispers and looks away.
I open my mouth quickly to protest," No!" I sigh, "Mimi is like a junior sister to me. Nothing can absolutely happen between us."
I don't want to tell her that Mimi asked out. That might cause an issue. And well, Mimi wasn't supposed to even love me. I should have suspected she was up to something with the way she was always acting whenever I'm concerned.
"Why?"
"Will you be my friend?" I say, ignoring her question. I don't even know how to answer her.
She looks up slowly, her black eyes sparkles even in the dark, "But_" she started.
"Nothing for you to worry about," I cut in quickly.
She gives me a confused look, " But that's not possible. How can I?"
"It's ok. I permitted you to call me by my name," I sign and look away briefly, " I just needed someone close and I realize you fit so perfectly well.
I can feel her gaze on me. I look back and caught her looking, "Are you ok with that?"
I nod slowly, happily.
She smiles, "ok, I will."
What's about to happen? My heartbeat increases drastically. I'm so happy that I can at least stay with her.
Jeez, I will do anything! If it's to gain Gwen's love.
