Trouble is back
Chapter forty-four
Ryder
She looks at me and smiles again. I smile back.
She looks back at the laptop, "Where are all these shops located?"
"Somewhere nice. This one is on a nice estate close to this place, "I point at a shop on the screen, " I'm checking through some houses there tomorrow. Derek told me they have nice houses as well. "
She gives me a skeptical look, " You want to buy another house? "
I nod slowly, looking back at her, " It's about Mimi. She kept trying to commit suicide anytime I tell her I'm not interested. The first time I caught her, she tried to drown herself. "
She gasps and her hand flies to cover her mouth, her eyes went wider.
"Yes," I nod briefly, "It's surprising. Mrs. Johnson did the same when I told her. And well, that's not the only time she tried it. "
" The day you were admitted into the hospital, I got a call that she want to jump into the lagoon. I had to leave you and go there. "
She blinks once then twice, " So that was what happened? I thought you left me purposefully."
I laugh, "You thought? No, I can't," I look back at the screen, " I love this shop, it's very wide and it has extra offices," I point at a shop.
She looks forward at it and nods briefly, " It's good. How much is it?"
I ignored her question and clicked pay, I have my card copied already. I pay for the shop and smile happily. I look back at Gwen and catch her staring.
"Why did you pay for it?" She asks innocently.
" I'm in a good mood," I smooth her hair slowly, "You need a new dress for the party. Do you want me to call someone for it?" I withdraw and stare into her grey eyes.
" No," she shakes her head slightly, " I will handle it myself. When next are you having a match."
"Hmm," I think for a while, " I have one by next month and another one by exactly two months but that's out of the state."
She smiles softly, " Can I come along?"
" Yes, you are free to do that."
She looks so happy.
" I will leave now," she says and gets down from the bed. I watch her walk towards the door.
"When will you be able to check your shop?"
She looks back, "Whenever you are ready to do so."
I think for a while, "Should we go tomorrow then?"
" But you need to go somewhere."
I nod once, " Yes, but I just need to go and see the house I'm buying. And well, it won't be bad if you tag along. Then from there, we will go to the shop."
It seems like a nice idea even to my ears. I can finally be able to have a nice time with Gwen. There will be no one to disturb us. No one likes Heidi or Mimi disturb us.
"Yes, that sounds cool. When are we leaving?"
"By ten in the morning is just fine."
" Yes, it is," she blushes slightly before turning away.
I watch her walk out before releasing the breath I didn't even know I was holding.
I'm seriously anticipating that day. The day I will be able to hold her in my arms. The day I will be able to kiss her and tell her how much I feel for her.
It's a good start for me. And I'm optimistic about it.
My phone rings suddenly. I look at the screen and it's Mervin.
Mervin is one of the neighbors I once had. He lives two houses away from where I used to stay. We are kind of close because he's also an athlete.
It's just that he's a runner. So, we don't really see each other that much.
And well, he's married unlike me. Gosh, this thing is starting to affect me mentally.
I press the receiver, "Hello Mervin," I say, holding the phone with my left hand and using the other hand to shut the laptop.
"Hello Ryder, where are you currently?"
"Why do you ask?" I ask instead, ignoring his question. I sit up and walk into the closet. I should go to the gym. It seems like forever since I've done that.
"Mimi has been looking everywhere for you!"
The confession seems to force me to a sudden stop, " What! Where is she now?"
He sighs, "She's still around the house. She came to my house a few minutes ago and told me your property wasn't in. And so, it means you've relocated."
Jeez, I shouldn't have packed all my clothes away. And wait for a second, how was she able to get inside the house?
"See Mervin, just tell her I'm out of this country. Tell her you've called me and confirmed."
" Alright, no problem," he says and the phone went off.
Gosh, thank God I had a tip from her father. I would have been back to square one.
