Chapter 18 What Should I Do?
"Ding ding--"
Just as the atmosphere was getting more and more awkward, Elisa's phone suddenly rang.
Elisa finally came to her senses and pushed Simon away in embarrassment before quickly grabbing her phone.
After being pushed away, Simon sat down on the side looking uneasy.
Hillary was going to be his future sister-in-law. How could he have such thoughts about her?
Simon took a few deep breaths and suppressed his inner impulse.
"Really? Okay, I'll come over now..."
The call was from Elisa's friend Robert Brown who she had asked for help finding a job. He finally had some news for her.
However, Elisa still agreed to meet with him even though she had already been hired by Iverson Inc.
But Robert was someone that Elisa secretly admired for a long time. It was a rare opportunity to meet with him so of course she wouldn't miss it.
As soon as Simon heard that she was leaving, he immediately turned around and asked her, "Where are you going?"
"I have something to do outside." Thinking about their ambiguous behavior just now made Elisa too embarrassed to look at him directly.
"What should I do then?" Simon stared straight at her and seemed reluctant to let her leave.
Before he could say anything else, David walked in through the door.
Elisa immediately pointed at him and said, "Your assistant is here. He will take care of you."
Simon gritted his teeth but didn't say anything else during the next fifteen minutes while watching Elisa quickly put on makeup and change clothes before leaving with a refreshing braid hairstyle on full display. She didn't even bother saying goodbye which clearly indicated that she looked like someone going out on a date!
Feeling annoyed and restless, Simon threw the company report in his hand aside. After all, she was still part of their Iverson family right now. If she really went out to see some other man, he would show her what he was capable of...
But they had already agreed not to interfere with each other's lives. He was going to marry her sister anyway so even if Elisa went on a date, he had no right to intervene.
...
When Elisa arrived at the coffee shop where they were supposed to meet, Robert was already there and had ordered her favorite latte.
They both used to be members of the student council and were familiar with each other's tastes.
"Thank you." Elisa sat down across from him.
Although it had been half a year since they last met, Robert hadn't changed much and still looked handsome as ever under the sun.
"No problem. I helped you submit several resumes for different companies and they have all been accepted. You should receive their offers in your email these days. If you can't decide which one to choose, I can help you screen them again."
Robert considerately pushed various company resumes toward her.
Elisa just mentioned it casually before but she didn't expect him to take responsibility for it until the end.
Elisa felt touched inside and saw a hint of softness in his eyes when looking at him now.
"Robert, thank you so much..."
"Ding--"
Before she could finish speaking, her phone rang urgently again causing Elisa some annoyance as she answered it reluctantly,
"Who is this?"
"Where did you put my coat?" Simon's voice came through on the other end of the line.
Elisa glanced at her phone screen wondering how he knew her number.
"I'm asking you something! Did you put my clothes somewhere?" He asked impatiently once more
"The clothes are on your own bedside table! Can't you see them? Do I need to hand them over directly into your hands?" Elisa thought that he was doing this intentionally
Simon didn't say anything else and just hung up.
Elisa was so angry that she felt like he did it on purpose.
Robert asked with concern, "Who was that? He seems to have upset you."
"My roommate." Elisa thought this term suited them best. Although they lived under the same roof, they didn't really have any relationship.
After hanging up the phone, the two continued discussing work matters while Robert brought out his computer. They sat together analyzing data and searching for information.
Because they were sitting close to each other, Elisa could even smell the scent of sunshine from Robert's clothes.
"That's it!"
When they saw something important on the screen at the same time, both of them couldn't help but exclaim in surprise. As they turned their heads towards each other simultaneously, their distance closed by several centimeters.
Facing Robert's handsome face so close to her own made Elisa gulp down a mouthful of saliva nervously.
He also paused for a moment before smiling slightly and leaning closer toward her...
