Chapter 25 Pregnant and Running Around
"Oh, I was wondering why I couldn't get in touch with you these past few days. You've been with this guy, haven't you?" Margaret interjected eagerly.
In the past, Robert's appearance would have surprised Elisa, but today she just looked at Simon and said slowly and deliberately: "Fine. I won't argue. Believe whoever you want to believe. And since we've both had our surgeries and everything is settled, we know what we need to do between us."
It wasn't until she rushed out of the ward and accidentally bumped into Robert that she called out his name in a daze.
"Let me take you back first," he said.
Looking at all the people in the room, Robert didn't know what was going on exactly so he helped her leave instead. Behind him were Simon's eyes almost shooting fire - so they'd been fooling around together for these past few days?
Well then, if she was so eager to get rid of him as a cripple then he would grant her wish and let her be with that guy named Robert!
"Simon, your body hasn't fully recovered yet; don't get angry..." Hillary coaxed while trying to hold his hand but was startled by the sharpness in his eyes.
"I'm tired; I want some time alone," Simon's expressionless face made it even more terrifying for others. Hillary dared not say anything else and left the room.
Once the door closed behind her, she anxiously asked Margaret: "Do you think he recognized me?"
"It shouldn't be possible; a few days ago when he was unconscious he kept muttering about someone having a mole on their chin before I remembered that Elisa has one there too. Luckily we got one for you too or else things could have gone wrong." Margaret breathed a sigh of relief as she tried to comfort her.
"Don't worry, Dr. White pointed out to Simon that the person in the snow was you so he won't suspect anything."
Elisa stumbled along with all her regrets and frustrations weighing heavily on her chest, making it hard for her to breathe. It was all her own fault.
When she had been waiting outside the Rong family's door in heavy snow before, did she really expect Simon to come back and repay her?
"Elisa, are you okay?" Robert hadn't been able to contact her for days which is why he found his way here. But from the looks of things something had happened between Elisa and the man lying on the hospital bed just now.
"I'm fine..." Elisa forced a smile as she shook her head. "Robert, thank you for coming to see me."
She really didn't expect him to show up.
Robert gently rubbed her head: "You should go back and rest; I'll buy some food for you."
Seeing his warm smile made Elisa feel less burdened - after all Robert was someone she truly liked so why waste time on Simon?
"Hillary, what are you doing here alone? Where have you been these past few days?" Diana's voice suddenly sounded behind them as she walked over looking worried while holding Hillary's hand.
"Why do you look so bad? Have you suffered any grievances outside these past few days?"
Only Diana treated Elisa like a mother would treat their child; unable to hold back any more tears streamed down Elisa's face.
"She's been busy having fun with other men outside; what grievances could there be?" Simon pushed his wheelchair forward appearing without any warmth in his eyes at all.
"Mom, I won't marry Hillary. Our relationship ends here." Although they'd expected this outcome long ago when hearing it directly from Simon still gave Elisa quite a shock but what made it even harder for her to accept were the nurse's next words:
"Hillary, right? How can you be running around when you're pregnant? Don't you know to take care of yourself?"
