Chapter 23 Leg Injury Recovery
Elisa was feeling weak and passed out before she could finish her sentence.
"Miss!" the old man exclaimed.
Elisa only remembered that the snow she fell into was exceptionally soft, and then she lost all consciousness. It felt like falling into an endless abyss with a fireball surrounding her, making it hard for her to breathe until the cold liquid injected into her body brought back her awareness.
"Dr. White!"
Elisa woke up from a dream, realizing that she had been sweating profusely and feeling sticky and uncomfortable. But these were not important; what mattered was whether the retired doctor had come to treat Simon's injury...
"You finally woke up! You've had a high fever for several days because of your cold," said the nurse as she hung Elisa's IV drip.
So several days have passed?
Struggling to get out of bed, Elisa anxiously asked, "Do you know how Simon in room 1136 is doing?"
"He's lucky indeed. He's recovering well now. However, The Iverson family is really powerful; they managed to invite Dr. White over here. We haven't seen him for years..."
Dr. White has really come!
That means Simon doesn't have to undergo amputation!
Excitedly getting off the bed despite still being unwell, Elisa hurriedly went to see Simon's condition - more importantly, she wanted to thank the retired doctor in person.
Dragging her still-recovering body along, Elisa rushed towards Simon's ward but heard Hillary’s voice before entering his room.
Previously when Simon underwent surgery, Hillary refused adamantly even though he begged repeatedly for help and even turned off her phone so he couldn’t contact anyone else.
Now that Simon has recovered somewhat from his injuries after Dr.White came over thanks solely due to Elise waiting outside in freezing weather conditions for many days just so he could be treated, Hillary couldn't wait to come back.
"I'm here to see you, Simon. How do you feel today?"
"Simon, it's great that your leg injury can recover. It wasn't in vain for Elisa to wait so many days outside in the snow just to get Dr. White over here to treat you. After she came back, her hands and feet were frozen stiff but she still insisted on staying with you all this time; one can imagine how deeply she cares about you..."
Elisa was almost infuriated upon hearing Margaret’s words.
Margaret is shameless! She actually said that Hillary invited Dr.White over.
At this point, Hillary chimed in agreement: "I am willing to pay any price as long as Simon gets better."
"Our Elisa is so kind-hearted, unlike Hillary who...sigh...as soon as she heard that your wound was infected and needed amputation, she ran away scared saying that you would become a cripple from now on without even showing up since then; we haven’t been able to contact her at all."
"Don't worry about her anymore Simon; I'll take care of everything from now on. Although she's my sister, I won't allow her to say such things about you..."
Listening to the mother-daughter duo singing praises of each other inside the ward left Elisa shocked where she stood.
So there really are people like them who are shameless enough to twist right and wrong for their own purposes while confidently spouting nonsense!
The anger within Elisa surged out of her chest as if it wanted an outlet - tightly clenching her fists together before pushing open the door of the ward with a loud bang.
"How both of you dare spread rumors recklessly?"
