Chapter 28 Elopement
"You're crazy! I told you, he's not the father of the child!"
"Then who is?"
The room fell silent. How could Elisa say it? She didn't even know who the man was that night...
It was ridiculous to think that there were mothers in this world who didn't know who their child's father was.
"Don't worry about whose child it is. If you dare to cause trouble for Robert, I won't let you off!"
Simon narrowed his eyes. "Why are you defending him?"
Despite everything she had been through, Robert remained untouchable in Elisa's heart. Of course, she wouldn't involve him.
So Elisa answered seriously, "You can't touch him."
Simon clenched his fists again.
"Mr. Iverson, it's time for your injection." The nurse came in with a syringe.
Elisa saw an opportunity and quickly escaped. She feared that if she stayed any longer, Simon would take her to get an abortion.
As Elisa left with one hand protecting her stomach, Simon pounded his fist on the wheelchair handle.
When Elisa returned to the hospital room later on, she found a small cake and a note on the table:
"Elisa,
I had to leave before seeing you but please take care of yourself while sick. You can contact me anytime if anything happens; Robert will definitely help you."
A warm feeling washed over her heart as she read the note.
But if Robert knew that she was pregnant with another man's child now...he would surely think less of her and distance himself from her...
The cake was still her favorite flavor though and holding onto the note made tears fall down Elisa’s face.
Under Dr.White’s treatment plan, Simon could walk short distances now.
Diana decided they should register their marriage soon since Elise is already pregnant.
But Simon refused without hesitation, "We'll talk about it later."
"Hillary is a good girl. After your surgery, you had a high fever and the whole hospital couldn't do anything. It was Hillary who begged Dr.White for days in the heavy snow outside and wouldn't leave. I felt sorry for her..."
Simon's head buzzed as he heard this. "What did you say? She went to beg Dr.White?"
"Of course she did! Your father's men were all kicked out but Hillary persisted at the door and moved Dr.White with her determination."
How could that be? Didn’t Dr.White personally identify Robert?
Elisa wasn’t even there those few days; how could she have pleaded on his behalf...
"In that case, both your life and leg are thanks to her." Diana was very satisfied with her daughter-in-law.
For a moment, Simon found it hard to accept because he couldn't understand why Elisa saved him.
Didn't she like Robert?
"Mr.Iverson, I've made progress on finding Robert. Strangely enough, his previous whereabouts had no connection with Mrs.Iverson’s past life whatsoever. He just boarded a plane bound for Australia this morning." David came in to report.
Before Simon could think further, he heard his mother muttering: "What's wrong with Hillary? Why can't I reach her by phone?"
At that moment only one thought flashed through his mind...Hillary eloped with Robert!
