Chapter 36 Falling in Love with Hillary!
As soon as she heard him say that, the grievance in Hillary's heart immediately turned into anger. She broke free from Simon and her voice became sharp.
"Simon, don't you want to see me anymore? Or have you fallen in love with my sister?"
She thought he would stand by her side, but his response was unexpected.
"It's not what you think..."
Simon tried to pull her back, but Hillary pushed him away so hard that he was taken aback.
"Isn't it true? Your mother protects her and now even you are protecting her. In the end, I am the one who is unnecessary!"
Simon watched as she turned angry and his impression of her rapidly declined. However, he patiently explained himself.
"You misunderstood me. I asked you not to come to the hospital because my mother has a weak heart and can't handle any stress. I don't want her condition to worsen."
Diana's illness was not apparent on a daily basis; only when she got anxious did it flare up. The last time this happened was when Simon had an accident and Diana almost didn't make it... Thinking about this still gave Simon chills.
If it weren't for Diana's illness, Simon would have told Hillary about himself and Diana long ago.
"Diana has a heart condition?" This surprised Hillary; she hadn’t considered this before which made things difficult for Simon regarding their relationship between them both.
Simon nodded his head.
Hillary felt embarrassed now; she reached out again for Simon’s arm,
"Simon, I didn’t know about Diana… I wasn’t intentionally getting mad at you."
But Simon withdrew his hand calmly without wanting any physical contact with her since he never really liked being close to Hillary from the beginning anyway.
"Now that you know... But whose fingers left those red marks on your arm?"
His gaze fell on her arm.
Seeing that he still cared about her, Hillary rolled down her sleeve and innocently said,
"It should be from when I pulled my hand away earlier. It was an accident."
"Hillary? She almost had a miscarriage a few days ago and is still weak. How could she have the strength to leave those marks?"
Hillary panicked as soon as Simon saw through her lie but tried to explain herself forcefully,
"Simon, what do you mean by that? Do you think I would lie to you?"
But Simon wasn't stupid; he had his own ability to think things through.
He stared at Hillary for a long time before speaking slowly,
"I also believe that you wouldn't lie to me, but people who deceive me usually don't end up well."
Although Hillary felt uneasy under his sharp gaze, she remained calm and replied,
"Simon, in this world everyone lies sometimes... But I won’t ever deceive you."
In the end, Simon just nodded lightly and asked the driver to take her home.
As Hillary left with reluctance in her heart, she immediately called her mother.
"Mom! This girl is now thriving in The Iverson Family. If we don’t find a way soon enough then she will become the mistress of The Iverson Family!"
"Don't worry too much Hillary; Mom will help solve your problem..."
