Chapter 6: Unspoken Understanding
At this moment, Margaret also walked out upon hearing the commotion. When she saw the man in front of her, she felt that he looked familiar. Simon took the initiative to greet her politely.
"Mrs. Iverson, long time no see."
Margaret was just as shocked as Hillary and couldn't believe what she was seeing. She stared at him for a while before asking, "You...you are Simon?"
"Yes, it's me."
The two women exchanged glances and Margaret was even more furious when she realized that Elisa had let go of such a handsome golden bachelor like Simon.
Hillary blushed slightly and spoke with some shyness,
"Mom, today Simon came specially to return my lost bracelet from last Saturday night. That night...we unexpectedly became intimate."
When Margaret saw the bracelet engraved with "Elisa," she quickly understood what had happened - Elisa had slept with Simon!
But now that the sisters have switched identities, Simon has found his daughter.
However, Hillary changed her tone and said tearfully,
"But Simon is already engaged to my sister! As an older sister, I cannot steal someone else's love! Forget about what happened that night!"
She then tried to throw away the silver bracelet.
"Don't worry; I will never use this incident to blackmail you..."
Seeing her sad expression made Simon feel even more guilty and compassionate towards her so he hugged her tightly for comfort.
"Since I came here today looking for you, I am prepared to take full responsibility for you."
Simon did not want to disappoint such a kind-hearted girl who knew how to behave properly.
Hillary collapsed into his arms feeling his strong embrace and unique scent on him. It was really cheap of Elisa to sleep with such a handsome man!
From now on though Hillary would make sure that she would keep hold of him! That little brat Elisa would not be able to compete with her!
While Hillary was still thinking about how to proceed, Simon had already grabbed her shoulder.
"Since I am willing to take responsibility for you, I need to know if you are willing to be with me."
Hillary couldn't wait to say yes but she blushed and lowered her head before answering,
"You are my first man. Of course, I'm willing."
Simon nodded slightly and then looked at Margaret next to him sincerely saying,
"Mrs. Iverson, I believe that marriage should be based on mutual consent between two people. As you can see, Elisa is willing to follow me. As for your daughter Hillary...I can only apologize."
Margaret also understood very well that as long as her daughter insisted that the woman from that night was herself and there was this bracelet as evidence, Simon would definitely think of Hillary as Elisa!
As for Elisa though - she had ways of making sure she kept quiet!
However, Margaret pretended to sigh and decided to play along until the end.
"It seems like it's all my fault; almost causing both of you to miss each other. As for marriage...it's better if young people make their own decisions."
Hillary and Margaret smiled knowingly at each other; their thoughts were in sync.
After getting Margaret's approval, Simon held onto Hillary's hand even more firmly.
But just at this moment when everything seemed settled down - because Elisa feared being exposed - she rushed home shouting:
"Hillary!"
