Chapter 8 Taking the Hit for Her
Elisa was stunned for a moment, quickly wiping away her tears before turning around. "Did you discuss this with Hillary...with me?" she asked.
So, one by one they all had to end their relationships and leave the Iverson family?
If they were already in love with each other, why involve her in the first place?
Looking at her misty eyes, Simon felt a twinge of reluctance but turned away. "Although we didn't get married, you did live in the Iverson family after all. It's not good for your reputation so I will introduce you to some good people after we end our relationship."
Elisa found it ridiculous. If he was so unwilling from the beginning then why did he agree to marry her?
"Well thank you Mr. Iverson but there's no need. I can't afford anyone that Mr. Iverson introduces," Elisa sneered.
Simon thought she was ungrateful and said, "Miss Brooks are you dissatisfied? You don't like any of the people I've introduced?"
"I don't," Elisa replied defiantly.
Maybe this heir of The Iverson Family participated when Hillary played with herself!
He really treated her like an idiot!
Just as they were arguing, there suddenly came a commotion from down the hospital hallway.
Elisa looked over instinctively and saw several people rushing towards them holding hammers.
"Come here--"
Suddenly someone grabbed Elisa and pulled her into a warm embrace before she could even understand what was happening.
Then she heard a muffled groan coming from above - Simon had taken the hit for her!
When that person tried to attack again, Simon's assistant finally arrived and stopped him.
But Simon had injured his legs badly enough that he couldn't stand up anymore; Elisa realized how serious it was now.
"If it weren’t for Simon blocking the attack, he wouldn't have been...especially since he already had old injuries," Elisa nervously stared at his pale face.
"Do I look okay to you? Were you blind when the hammer was coming and didn't know how to dodge?" Simon scolded her while cold sweat dripped from his forehead.
His assistant helped him up in a panic and asked Elisa to find an emergency doctor.
Elisa hurriedly got up and went to find someone. In the end, Simon's legs were badly injured and he needed to rest in a wheelchair for a week before they could see what would happen next.
As she was about to open the door with medicine in hand, she heard Diana's voice: "It was clearly John Smith's decision-making mistake. How did those people come after you? Besides, don’t you usually work out? How did two old men hurt you?"
Hearing this made Elisa feel even more guilty. She wanted to explain that it was her fault that Simon got hurt but Simon beat her to it. "They came too suddenly; I just didn't notice."
"Are you okay Hillary? I heard that you were there too. They didn't hurt you right?" Diana turned around and saw Elisa, asking with concern.
Elisa shook her head guiltily as she glanced at Simon on the wheelchair.
"That’s good then but we can’t let anyone know about Simon getting injured so please take care of him at home this week if possible," Diana said thoughtfully. She believed that having Hillary take care of their son would help them bond better.
Elisa was shocked by this request - taking care of Simon 24/7 for a whole week?
She opened her mouth wanting to refuse but before she could say anything, Simon had already agreed first: "Okay then let her take care of me 24/7."
