Chapter 22 Dr. White

"Doctor, is there really no way to save Simon's leg?" Elisa caught up with the doctor and grabbed him.
Although it was cruel, the doctor chose to tell her the truth.
"This surgery already had a high risk, and infection was expected. Please prepare yourselves."
After the doctor left, Elisa couldn't accept this fact.
She thought Simon had escaped from danger but heaven took away his last hope...
In the following days, The Iverson family used all their resources to invite the best doctors from all over the country to treat Simon. But he still had a high fever and showed no signs of improvement.
Diana didn't know what else she could do while Simon's attending physician suggested they perform another surgery as soon as possible. Otherwise, Simon would be in life-threatening danger. However, Ryan Iverson did not agree with the doctor's suggestion; instead, he gave an order:
"Go get Dr. White."
Elisa recognized this retired doctor’s name.
As a medical Ph.D. who worked in orthopedics for decades treating countless difficult cases and receiving numerous awards before retiring; he was even invited back by medical universities to teach after retirement. However now that he is old enough has long since withdrawn from medicine and refused consultations for years leaving many people out in the cold...
"My father announced several years ago that he will no longer consult patients due to his age," said Dr.White's daughter when she met them at his door after Ryan sent someone over.
"I know we shouldn't disturb your father anymore but our patient is only twenty-something years old; we have nowhere else to turn." Elisa quickly stopped her.
However, she had grown indifferent towards these requests long ago: "This is his own fate."
"Don’t you think your father wouldn’t want such a young life destroyed? Please let me see Dr.White..."
"My father won't see anyone. Please leave!"
After she finished speaking, she left without looking back.
But Elisa didn't plan to give up so easily. She stubbornly said, "Since you don’t agree, I'll stay here and not leave!"
However, no one paid attention to her words; after all, who would believe that in a city where it never snows except for two or three degrees Celsius temperature in winter that someone would really stay outside?
But Elisa was just that stubborn. Whenever someone from the Rong family passed by her spot on the steps of Dr.White's house, she begged them for help.
No one listened to her though; unfortunately, this city began experiencing heavy snowfall at night despite its usual climate.
Elisa shivered and took refuge under the eaves of a nearby building with her face turning red from the cold.
She had been waiting there for three days but still hadn't seen Dr.White yet.
"Achoo..." Elisa sneezed several times due to the cold weather and started crying sadly.
It wasn't because of the harsh weather but because Simon lost his last hope.
As the night deepened, the snow grew heavier. Elisa felt pain throughout her body as she curled up on the steps.
Just when she was feeling dizzy and about to pass out, footsteps came from inside Dr.White's gate.
Elisa stood up abruptly with anxiety causing herself to fall over again. The person who came out was none other than Dr.White!
"Doctor! Please save Simon Iverson! I think you can find a way to keep him from amputation!"
Elisa pleaded tearfully while holding onto Dr.White’s hands tightly with both ice-cold hands shaking uncontrollably.
Dr.White sighed: "Who are you?"
"I...I'm his..."
