Chapter 33 Mistaken Identity
As soon as the words were spoken, both of them froze.
Simon suddenly wondered if he had really mistaken her for someone else. But the bracelet left behind that night belonged to Elisa, and the woman in front of him was Hillary! He couldn't have been wrong!
"You're overthinking it. I wouldn't mistake someone for something like that," Simon said coldly. Then he thought of something and sneered at her, "Do you not even know who your child's father is when you do things like this? No wonder."
"You!" Elisa blushed with anger.
"Your job is done now. You can leave," Elisa pulled up the blanket and lay down in bed without wanting to talk to him anymore.
So Simon left directly.
After filling her stomach, Elisa felt drowsy involuntarily. After sleeping for a while, she heard someone come in and gently tuck her into bed. The gentle hands were warm like a mother's.
Elisa opened her eyes greedily.
"Awake? How did you sleep?" Diana sat on the edge of the bed with a very gentle look in her eyes.
If...this was her own mother, how great would that be?
Elisa sat up and felt a little sore around her eyes. "You're back."
"Yeah, I brought some clothes for you to change into. The ones you used to wear...I put them at home first." As Diana spoke, she took out a bank card and stuffed it into Elisa's palm.
"You've been taking care of Simon all this time so surely haven't paid attention to yourself? Take this credit card; buy whatever you want or need."
Elisa was embarrassed beyond belief; she must have looked poor before Diana saw through it all. She had worn those few pieces of clothing for years until they turned yellow.
"No, I can't accept it..."
"Why not? You're the daughter-in-law of the Iverson family. It's what you deserve."
But how could Elisa accept it? She wasn't the woman Simon was going to marry, nor was she carrying his child. She couldn't bring herself to take it and pushed the card back into Diana's hand.
The salary from her previous company had been quite substantial, but she had used all of it to treat Emma's illness. That was why she was so frugal with herself.
Diana gave up trying to persuade her and let it go. But she couldn't understand why Elisa lived like Cinderella when she was still a Brooks family daughter after all.
After learning that they were sharing a hospital room, Hillary came over under the guise of visiting her sister on the next day. When she saw a pile of nutritional supplements and fruits by Elisa's bed, Hillary couldn't help but grit her teeth in anger as she whispered in Elisa's ear:
"You're really something else, aren't you? Look at your treatment now!"
Her voice was low enough that Simon didn’t hear anything from where he sat nearby.
"Everything I have now is thanks to you," Elisa retorted with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.
At this moment, Hillary noticed something and immediately pulled out an object from somewhere.
"Hillary ah...isn’t this The Iverson Family’s credit card? Our parents taught us not to take other people’s things lightly since we were young; how can you be willing to accept this?"
Elisa suddenly widened her pupils; hadn’t she already returned that card earlier?
"Simon? This seems like an unlimited credit card! Did you give this to her?" Hillary said jealously.
An unlimited credit card?
There weren’t many people who could get their hands on such cards within The Iverson Family. How did she get it?
Simon's face darkened as he thought of everything that had happened to her since she came to The Iverson Family, and now with her being pregnant and enjoying the family's treatment.
Simon was furious as he tightly clenched the card in his hand. "Hillary, I really underestimated you. Was getting pregnant part of your plan? Otherwise, how could you have gotten The Iverson Family’s money?"
