Chapter 21 Amputation Needed
Even sisters cannot have moles in the same location.
Simon desperately wanted to confirm this with Elisa.
She was the girl from that night, but anesthesia made his eyelids heavier and heavier until he lost consciousness...
After being pushed into the operating room, the red light suddenly lit up.
The Iverson family of all ages waited outside, attaching great importance to Simon's surgery this time.
If something goes wrong during the operation and amputation is needed...that would be a big deal.
Diana was so worried that she kept holding Elisa's hand, her palms sweating profusely.
"It's okay, Diana. Simon will definitely come out safely," Elisa comforted her.
Diana nodded and said with teary eyes again: "Hillary, thanks to you for persuading him. Otherwise, Simon wouldn't have agreed to undergo surgery so quickly..."
"Persuading him is one thing; he can think it through himself. Diana, he knows what he wants," Elisa smiled at her.
Even if it was for his beloved woman, Simon would definitely undergo this surgery.
The agonizing eight hours passed bit by bit. When the lights in the operating room finally went out, Elisa found that her legs had gone numb.
"Doctor, how did my son's surgery go? Was it successful?" Diana walked forward first and asked anxiously.
Elisa also became nervous and stared at the chief surgeon tightly.
Fortunately, the doctor smiled and nodded to indicate that the operation was successful.
"But follow-up rehabilitation requires active cooperation from patients. There should be no problem recovering as a normal person," said the doctor.
Diana burst into tears of joy and kept thanking him while holding his hand tightly. In her heart too did Elisa breathe a sigh of relief.
Originally thought everything was developing in a good direction but on that evening after completing surgery, Simon suddenly developed a high fever.
Her first reaction was the most terrifying postoperative infection.
At two o'clock in the morning, Elisa didn't dare to delay and immediately found the on-duty doctor and nurse.
"The patient's current temperature is 39.5 degrees Celsius, but blood pressure is normal," the nurse reported to the doctor.
Elisa was shocked by this high temperature. If it continued like this, not only would Simon's leg be affected but his brain too!
Finally, the doctor prescribed antibiotics and antipyretics and requested that his body temperature changes be recorded every hour.
Elisa took turns with Diana to take care of Simon. But because they were worried sick about him, they hardly slept all night long.
Simon began to lose consciousness due to a persistent high fever; his cheeks turned red as he started talking nonsense later on.
"It's you... more...Elisa...Elisa..."
She heard clearly at last name mentioned but she knew that Simon wasn't calling her; he was calling Hillary instead.
However, ever since her younger sister learned about Simon undergoing surgery, she disappeared without a trace as if wanting to distance herself from everything related to him.
"Elisa...where are you? Elisa..."
Unable to bear watching Simon in such an unclear state while still looking for Hillary’s help made Eliza angry enough that she called her up anyway despite being blocked already by Hillary earlier on.
But no matter how many times she tried dialing her number again now showed busy status each time making it impossible for them to connect with one another anymore.
"Hillary! You're going too far!"
Angered by what happened next after hanging up abruptly when hearing nothing from another side of the phone call made Eliza drop her phone which clattered onto the ground loudly before overhearing doctors discussing about Simon's condition nearby:
"He has had a fever for two days now. Wasn't the operation successful?"
"The operation was indeed clean at the time, but you know that there are five steel nails in his leg. Infection is a very easy thing to happen..."
"So, in the end, amputation is still necessary?"
"This is also inevitable."
