Chapter 24 Taking Credit

With Elisa's sudden appearance, the ward instantly quieted down. Hillary and Margaret stared at her in surprise, probably not expecting her to barge in. After exchanging a glance with Hillary, Margaret was the first to question Elisa: "Hillary, where have you been these past few days? We've been looking for you for several days!"
Simon on the hospital bed also looked at her scrutinizingly. He most likely believed what Elisa and Diana had said about her leaving him behind to fool around.
Elisa stared seriously into Simon's eyes. "I didn't go fooling around. Since your surgery, Diana and I have been taking turns taking care of you..."
"Yes, you did take care of me for a while after my surgery, but then you started disappearing once my wound got infected and needed amputation," Simon almost interrogated her with disappointment mixed into his gaze.
The reason she disappeared was that she spent several days begging Dr. White in the snow. Elisa couldn't swallow this injustice and replied firmly: "Dr. White came because I begged him!"
"Hillary, it's no fun if you say that! Are you trying to steal credit from me?" Hillary pretended to look wronged beside them.
"Do I need to compete with you? This is just a fact!" But deep down inside, Elisa knew that neither Simon nor Hillary would choose to believe her.
"As for who invited him here... let Dr.White come out himself and identify us," Simon spoke calmly as he gestured towards David.
Dr.White had been staying next door during this time period so he could treat Simon; it took less than a minute for David to invite him over.
Elisa suddenly felt hopeful since she had met Dr.White before; there was no way he wouldn't recognize her!
But she forgot that this old doctor was already advanced in age and his eyesight was poor. He couldn't distinguish between the sisters who had similar body shapes and hairstyles.
"Dr.White, you've worked hard treating Simon during this time. Did you sleep well last night?" Hillary must have met Dr.White before as she held him intimately.
"I slept fine." Dr.White nodded and went to examine Simon's body routinely.
But before that, Elisa stopped him anxiously. "Dr.White, do you remember me? I waited for you outside your house for three days while your daughter chased me away several times..."
Dr.White adjusted his glasses in confusion. "You are... the young girl who fainted in the snow that day, isn't she?"
He pointed to Hillary beside her. Simon's faint light in his eyes was completely extinguished at this moment.
"It is my daughter! She acted impulsively to save her beloved person; sorry for troubling you," Margaret apologized with a smile of embarrassment.
"How could it be her! Have you really forgotten? You even asked me what relationship I had with him and why I was so persistent..."
The old man only saw her once that day, then Hillary stayed by Simon's side without leaving or abandoning him. Naturally, Dr.White thought the girl he saw that day was Hillary since their appearances were not too different from each other.
"That's enough!"
Elisa wanted to explain further but Simon felt there was no need to listen anymore and interrupted her sternly: "Dr.White has already said it; Elisa begged him herself. What else do you have left to argue about?"
Simon's icy gaze made Elisa instantly tear up: "I looked everywhere for you; why did you come here ?"
At this moment, Robert's voice suddenly sounded outside the door.
