The Elementals: Chapter 8 Missing

The past week has been amazing, besides lectures and work, I have seen Sky all if the time. It is much easier without having to tiptoe around Ember and I have loved every minute of it. I head over to his place straight after work to watch the latest episode of Loki. When Sky lets me in he does not look his usual relaxed self, in fact he looks stressed.
“What is wrong?” I ask
“Its Ember, she sent me this message and I don’t know what’s happened and she might be in trouble.” Sky says in a panic.
“Ok, slow down, what message?” I ask and he hands me his phone.
I read the somewhat coherent message despite all the typos- Help, this creep won’t back off, I know you hate me but I’m alone and need you.
“This was send 2 hours ago, when did you read it?” I ask.
“I only read it half an hour ago, I was eh distracted and when I tried to call her it went straight to voicemail. She never has her phone off, I’m worried” Sky says.
“Its probably fine, she can definitely handle a creep. She did all that training with us too. Still, do you know where she might be? We could go and try to find her?” I offer.
“At this time on a Wednesday, there are only a few places she would go. Would you mind if we look? I know you don’t get along and we had other plans.” Sky says.
“We don’t always agree, but she is still my friend and I don’t want to see her hurt. Lets go, we can always do this tomorrow.” I say and I mean it, even if a selfish part of me wants Sky’s undivided attention.
We walk around the city checking various bars and clubs along the way with no luck. When we come to the last pub, I check outside while sky goes in. There is a homeless lying man on the street and I decide to ask if he has seen Ember. As I approach, I can smell the alcohol on him and as I get closer notice that his clothes are all burnt but aside from that he is much better presented than I’d expect. I try to wake him gently.
“Excuse me sir, are you ok?” I ask as he comes around.
“Get away! No tail is worth that!” He shouts
“Its ok, I’m not here to hurt you. I’m just looking for my friend, red head, bouncy curly hair, probably dressed to the nines with her boobs out.” I describe.
“Thats her! Keep that psycho away from me! Look what she did to my armani suit!” He shouts again.
“Where did she go?” I ask.
“I don’t know, away from me hopefully” He scrambles trying to get up, but I don’t think he deserves any help if my suspicions are correct.
I go to find Sky and tell him what I found out. Sky said that apparently we are not the only ones looking for her, 2 body guard types came in an hour ago and asked at the bar too.
“What if she is like us, what if she burnt that guy and now someone is after her because of it” Sky says panicking
“We don’t know that for sure, but we do need to find her. At least the creep didn’t get her. Ok so if she was scared and drunk where would she go?” I ask
“Probably back to her place” Sky says and leads the way to where Ember lives. As we approach we hear a scream and start running. A voice we recognise is shrieking furiously at someone. As we turn the corner a van speeds away and sky tries to run after it hopelessly. I stop distracted by something on the ground.
“We were too late” He says dropping to his knees.
“At least we know who took her” I say handing him the ID badge I picked up.
“A policeman? Why would the police kidnap her?” Sky asks confused.
“I don’t know, but we can’t go to them about this. We will have to get her back ourselves.” I say
“then we need to follow them” Sky says getting up
“they are long gone already. We need to rest and think of a plan. We should go home” I say trying to calm him down.
“There is no way i’m leaving you alone tonight, what if they come for you too.” Sky says protectively.
“Well then I will come back to yours, but we need to sleep and be smart about this.” I say.
“Fine, but I don’t think I can sleep anyway.” Sky protests and leads us back to his. We walking silence, both processing what happened until Sky unlocks his flat.
“I guess I will take the sofa, you can have the bed.” Sky offers.
“Its your bed, I’m not taking it. I will sleep on the couch.” I argue.
“Lil, you are not sleeping on the couch” Sky argues back.
“Well then I guess we will just have to share the bed. We can do top and tail like when we were little.” I suggest.
“Fine we can share, but i’m not having your feet in my face, you have to sleep normally.” Sky says.
“Fine.” I go to get in the bed, lying under the covers fully clothed.
“Lily get changed, you can wear one of my pyjama t-shirts. It will be like a dress on you anyway.” Sky laughs and throws me a top. Stripping down to his boxers and throwing on his own pajamas. To say I enjoyed the view is an understatement. I feel myself getting wet and I start to think that I should have fought harder for the couch. When he is changed, Sky gestures for me to change too.
“Em a little privacy would be nice” I say and he obediently closes his eyes for me. I strip off to my underwear, glad I wore the nice red set and then debate whether to keep the bra or not. I would feel less exposed in it, but it’s not comfy to sleep in at all so I quickly take it off and throw the shirt on and hide myself under the covers.
“Am I allowed to open my eyes yet?” Sky asks
“Nope, you have to sleep so keep them shut” I say and wonder how on earth I’m going to be able to sleep when all I want to do is grind up against him.
