The Elementals: Chapter 37 Bad Feeling
After a whole week of rescues, drug busts and petty crime stopping, we are feeling pretty good about ourselves, it is nice to help people, especially people that the police would overlook or be too late to help. The problem though is that there has not been a single hunter show up which makes me very suspicious, especially as we are trending on social media and even had a mention on the national news.
“Look at this one- The elementals light up city crime.” Rain says handing me her phone with an article on Hades’s latest drug lord show down.
“haha look at the little cartoon they drew of you, you look so cute.” I laugh
“It can’t be accurate then, I’m nothing short of pantie droopingly sexy.” Hades replies.
“Well at least the media is on our side, they are all singing our praises, no one is scared of us.” I say changing the subject.
“They don’t know the whole truth, they think we have superpowers, not that we are dragons. They will change their tune when they work it out, but I have to say, I’m enjoying the secret celebrity thing.” Hades says.
“I don’t understand why we have not been attacked though. The hunters took Ember so quickly. They should have noticed us long before now.” I say.
“Unless they know our plan. One of the guards could have warned Ryder” Rain says.
“I should never have trusted them, people always let you down. We need a new plan” I grumble throwing myself down on the sofa in defeat.
“Sometimes plans change, it's not always a bad thing. We will get through this, we just have to trust each other. You guys go out without me tonight, I will go home and see what Ryder is up to.” Hades says
“I hope you find something useful. I need to go see my mother before the next meeting next week and I doubt she will ever let me out of her sight again when she finds out what we have been doing.” I say
“Normally I would say I would protect you, but that woman scares me. I could get used to living in the freezing cold though, as long as I have you to keep me warm” Sky says, wrapping his arms around me and making me feel better.
“Get a room!” Rain complains.
“I would love to, but it is almost time to leave and that would make us very late.” Sky says.
We get ready quickly changing into our costumes, or not so quickly in my case as I had to fight off Skys roaming hands and kisses. By the time I’m out, Hades has already left and Rain and Ember are looking very unimpressed at the delay.
After an eerily quiet night, we return home and settle into bed. A nagging feeling in my gut keeps me awake, despite the exhaustion. Sky senses my unrest even half asleep and rolls me to be little spoon, his warm embrace helping me eventually give into sleep despite my worries.
When I wake up, Sky is not beside me. The nagging feeling I had last night returns in full force. I jump out of bed, not caring how I look and I go to search for him. He is nowhere in the flat. Rain is still asleep and Sky’s phone is still charging where he left it last night. While I’m still busy frantically thinking of where he could be, Hades walks in.
“Somehow your sleepy just been fucked look is more beautiful than your ball gown.” Hades says eying me up.
“Have you seen Sky?” I ask quickly.
He sighs “I need you to hear me out” Hades says seriously, dropping the charm.
“What did you do?” I demand, the threat in my voice clear.
“I told Ryder where to find him” Hades says.
Flames light up my hands in a flash. Blinding fury takes hold of me. I throw everything I have at him, determined to burn him to a crisp, but he diverts the flames and extinguishes them. I change tacks and grow the tree pot plant to move its branches and pin his hands and legs. I wrap a vine slowly around his neck.
“Didn’t take you for a BDSM girl Lil, but damn does he look good tied up. Whats going on?” Rain asks
“He betrayed us, Sky is missing and he send him to Ryder” I practically growl
“If that is true, then I will help you kill him, but perhaps we should ask why first?” Rain says calmly.
“Why bother asking, he will just lie.” I say and then I turn to Hades “You said we should trust each other, I trusted you, how could you do this!” I spit my words at him.
