Worlds Collide: Chapter 4 Red Dragon

I wince as I land awkwardly on the ground, but I mange to roll away before the red dragon lands on top of me. It is not giving me a second to think or try to talk, swiping at me with a barbed tail and making me dodge its blows. My training kicks in and I go on the offence, landing a blow to the red dragon's head that sends it summersaulting backwards through the air. I move quickly while it is confused and grab onto the back of its neck then fly as fast as I can to drive it into the ground, pinning it against the ground. The red dragon thrashes against me, but I use all my weight to keep it underneath me. I start drawing water from the air to freeze this guy in place, when suddenly it disappears and I thud to the ground. Confused, I look around in every direction, but I can’t see it anywhere. There is nothing but a small butterfly drifting past.
My heart rate picks up, I'm very aware that the threat has not passed yet. I scan around, using all of my senses, but I find nothing. The butterfly lands on my nose and I feel it's tiny feet tickling my skin and making me fight back a sneeze. Before I know why, my head is filled with a crushing pain. I try to shift back to my human form to alleviate the pressure, but before I know what has happened, I pass out from the pain.

When I come around, I’m no longer in the green countryside, but in a dark stone prison cell. I try not to dwell on my location too long for fear that it will trigger memories I’d rather stay buried. My head is pounding still which is not a good sign, normally after a good rest, my dragon abilities heal injuries. A shiver runs down my spine, not from the cold of the cell but from dread, as the reality of my situation hits me. I’m not sure how I’m going to get out of this one, but I’m more worried about getting back before I’m missed at home and I don't want to let Lily down.
I’m drawing water into a small basin, that I’m horrified to realise is the toilet, when I hear someone walking towards my cell. I do my best to straighten my outfit and fix my hair before they come past my cell. A rather handsome burley blonde man walks by and I silently thank any gods that are watching that they blessed me with a body that can charm any man (or woman).
“Now I don’t mind all the BDSM stuff, but the cell is a bit much. You can chain me to a bed anytime though handsome.” I say, in a sultry voice and batting my eyelids at the man.
The poor man doesn’t know what to do with himself, just staring at me with his mouth open. It is clear that he understands english at least, but it is also clear that I may have come on too strong, so I change tactics.
“Sorry honey, maybe that was a bit forward of me. I guess I’m just lonely in here all by myself, why don’t you come get to know me a little? I’d love the company.” I say sweetly.
The man tilts his head and walks towards my cell eagerly.
“I really wouldn’t John. She may look harmless just now, but you have to remember that she is a dragon.” A deep voice warns from somewhere up the hall.
“Spoil sport” John grumbles and walks away.
“Scared are you?” I tease the voice.
“Why would I be scared, I’m the one that put you here” He replies arrogantly.
Anger rises inside me as I realise that I’m talking to the red dragon that attacked me.
“And why exactly did you put me here? Do you make a point of welcoming all visitors with such hospitality?” I ask sarcastically.
“You are a dragon. You can’t be trusted, so you will be held here until the King and Queen decide what to do with you.” He answers in a bored, matter of fact tone.
“Well if you are the example, I see why people here don’t trust dragons. Attacking innocent women on their travels is hardly chivalrous.” I say.
“You presume to know a lot about me. There are no dragons here now, the last one tried to start a rebellion against the throne and was killed by the king.” He replies coldly.
“So you are not a dragon? Then you can’t be the one I fought against” I say confused.
“Oh no, that was definitely me. The funny part is, you were not even taken down by a dragon, but by a dainty ittle butterfly.” He laughs.
I don’t even process what he is saying, all I know is that he is laughing at me and my hands clench into fists, ready to teach him not to do it again, but before I can say anything more, the handsome blonde from earlier returns swinging a set of keys.
“They are ready for your trial. I’m going to escort you there, please don’t try anything, I would hate to have to burn such a beautiful body.” John says opening the cell and motioning for me to walk in front of him. Luckily we walk the opposite way from the irritating voice, saving me from adding assault to what ever charges I'm on trial for.
