Worlds Collide: Chapter 23 Plan
A stubborn part of me wants to be mad at him still, but there is something addictive about his kisses. So I just can’t stop myself from pulling his face in for another taste. I jump up and wrap my legs around his waist and he holds my weight with ease, dropping my dress to the floor to support me. I look down at the dress.
“I don’t think you need that right now” Juan says
I sigh and summon all my will power to separate from him, a feat which is harder than stopping yourself from eating a whole tub of Ben and Jerry’s after only a spoonful. “Actually I do. The witches that took me are our best shot at finding the high priestess and they will realise I’m gone soon.” I explain.
Juan looks genuinely disappointed, but nods “Ok, so what’s the plan?”
I wiggle into my dress as I talk “Well they managed to send me to sleep before I could blink, so I guess we have to take them by surprise and immobilise them before they get a change to attack.”
“They don’t seem to realise I’m here, so I can probably go and scout out the building” Juan offers.
“Good idea, but be careful and maybe leave your clothes here, we are running out of trousers” I say.
“If you wanted a strip tease, all you had to do is ask” He says and begins to remove his clothes painfully slowly while thrusting his body in a way that makes me jealous of the air around him. As his shirt comes off, I reach to trail my hand down his chest, but as I do, he puffs into a fly. A fly which I swear just winked at me.
“Very funny” I grumble as he flies back towards the cottage that I escaped from.
As time ticks by, my impatience grows to become worry. I look at every passing fly with hope and then disappointment. I fear that he may have been discovered, but thankfully before my imagination can run wild with worst case scenarios, a fly transforms into a devilishly sexy man.
“What took so long? Are you ok?” I ask
“I overheard a conversation that I thought might be interesting. They were discussing who you were and how you got here, they didn’t actually come up with anything though, just throwing around ideas. There are only 5 of them in the main room as you enter, there is one more in the basement guarding the room you were in.” He explains.
“Ok, so we charge in, I freeze them and you beat up any stragglers. Maybe choose something more lethal than a fly. We do need them alive though, so let’s try to go easy on them.” I say.
“As you wish princess” Juan says and becomes a large majestic grey wolf.
I start to walk to the edge of the forest, but Juan’s wolf blocks me and bows down. I look at him perplexed for a moment and then realise that he wants me to ride him. I can’t argue that it will be quicker than my running or that it excites me getting to ride such a powerful animal. I climb on and wrap my arms tightly around his neck to hold on as he speeds across the distance to the cottage. I jump from Juan’s back, pausing briefly to gather the water from the stream, burst through the doors and throw the water at the people gathered in the room, quickly turning it to ice.
I only miss one which Juan jumps on and pins to the ground, snarling. In a flash Juan flops limply on the floor and changes back to his human self.
“What did you do to him?” I demand
“The same thing I’m going to do to you” The witch says and looks at me, but nothing happens.
I use the opportunity to freeze him in place too. “Don’t worry, I hear performance problems are quite common among men.” I say sweetly before going to check on Juan. I can still feel a pulse which relieves me.
I walk to the woman who seemed to be in charge and address her. “As I said, I wish a meeting with the high priestess, now please tell me how to find her. I mean her no harm, I just need information to help me get home” I explain.
I unfreeze the woman head and she mumbles some phrases I don’t understand. “I’m sorry, I’m terrible at languages, you will have to use english please” I say politely.
“How is this possible?” She demands angrily.
“What exactly?” I ask
“How are you immune to our spells? They worked before” She says.
“That I don’t know, but it would seem to have put me at an advantage. Now the high priestess?” I prompt
“Ha, go ahead, go to the emerald palace, you will only be walking into your death anyway.” She says and tries to spit at me, but I freeze it in place before it leaves her mouth.
“And how do I find this emerald palace?” I ask, ignoring her threat.
“All roads lead to the palace” She says.
“Well thats helpful, thank you. You should thaw out in around a day.” I explain.
“I hope it is in time to watch the high priestess put you in your place.” She says.
I ignore her and turn to retrieve Juan, but I freeze. A younger woman is holding a knife to his throat.
“Release them now or your friend dies” She demands.
