The Elementals: Chapter 34 Plea
Rain gets lost in a world of online shopping, but Sky pulls me to our room.
“This is a bad idea” He says.
“Oh come on, it will be fun. We have always wanted to be superheroes, this is the perfect chance.” I say.
“Lily, this is real life, not a movie. There are real consequences here, the bad guys don’t pull their punches. You could die.” He says worry etched on his face.
“You underestimate me. I’m so much stronger than the last time we faced them.” I defend.
“You are the strongest person I know. You always have been even before all the powers. But you are not invincible, dragons can still die.” Sky says.
“What kind of life would I have if I lived in fear? We would never leave this apartment, never have a career, never see the world or do all the things we want to do. Think about it Sky, if we had kids they would either be raised in bubblewrap or they would have the same life we had, never knowing us or their potential. We are not free, not while the hunters are after us or while Ryder tries to kick me off the council. My mother has given us guards to protect us, but they are still our prison wardens.” I say
“I can’t lose you. I don’t know what I’d do without you. You are my future, everything I picture about it has you by my side. Please don’t risk that” Sky begs cupping my face gently.
“I’m not going to lie, there will be a risk, it will be dangerous, but it will also be worth it. I don’t want to lose you either, but i’m doing this to protect you. Not acting and hiding away here still puts all of us in danger.” I say pleading him to understand.
“I love you Lily, I just want you to be safely by my side, always” He says.
“Tell me what you see in our future?” I ask
“I see me taking the job in NASA, travelling the world with you to see your beautiful face light up brighter than the stars at all the wonders of the world, getting married, buying a house with a big garden to fill with kids, growing old together.” Sky says gazing into my eyes and making my own eyes fight back tears.
“I want that too. That is why we need to take this risk. Wait, what do you mean take the job at nasa?” I ask confused.
“I graduated. I actually scored highest in my class and they approached me to offer me a job. It’s only an entry level position, but it’s an amazing opportunity.” Sky says.
“Why am I only just hearing this? Congratulations!” I say jumping on him and kissing him.
“We have been so busy, everything is so crazy right now I forgot to tell you. It doesn’t matter anyway, I can’t take it. It means moving to the other side of the world and away from you” Sky explains.
“Sky, you have to take it! We can fly to see each other every night without breaking a sweat. Think about it, if this plan works then we get rid of Ryder and the hunters which would mean that there is nothing to hide from. If we can build better relationships with the humans then we can fly freely. You can take the job and still come home every night for dinner.” I say.
Sky lets out a big sigh. “Ok, i’m in. You have to promise me though that you will let me protect you. I would rather die than live in a world without you.”
“I promise, but no one is dying. I don’t want to lose you either” I say pulling him into a hug.
Sky holds me tightly and then lifts me up and carries me to bed. He gently strokes his hands all over my body like he is trying to memorise it. The moment is sweet and intimate, carrying the weight of our love, but it doesn’t feel like enough. No actions or words could ever convey my feelings for him, but I can still try. I pull him into a kiss, trying to deepen our connection and his body responds immediately to mine. Sky pulls my body flush against his and the gentleness of his touch is replaced by yearning gropes as we intertwine our bodies.
