The Elementals: Chapter 33 Plot

We have all been allowed to return home, under certain conditions. I have to visit my mother to prepare again ahead of any meetings, we have a literal army protecting us and 2 body guards assigned at all times and we have had to move to a more secure location. The body guards feel a bit too much like baby sitters checking up on me, but I can’t complain about our new accommodation.
We have a full penthouse suite across from arthur’s seat which, as an extinct volcano, also happens to be a gateway to the underworld. The apartment is modern, with security cameras at all entrances, smart door locks and bullet proof glass on all the windows.
Rain has one room and Sky and I share the other. There is an office set up, a large open living room that joins onto the kitchen which has a full rangemaster oven and a giant bathroom with both a waterfall shower and a jacuzzi bathtub. My favourite feature is the swimming pool and gym in the basement which residents can book out for an hour at a time for private sessions.
Rain and Sky very briefly protested about me paying for it and them living there rent free, but after seeing the place, they quickly packed their bags and moved in.
It came furnished with all of the most luxurious furniture, but with our stuff, posters and photos now in place, it feels more like home.
“Ok so we need to figure out a way to distract the guards so that we can have a house warming party. This place is dying to be christened.” Rain says excitedly.
“I don’t think that is a good idea, but we can definitely christen it ourselves. Maybe some of the guards might even join in” I say trying not to kill her fun too much.
“That is way less fun to plan” Rain says, but doesn’t argue and instead goes to get the cocktail menu from the table.
“Actually, I need your help with a more important plan. We need a way to force Sky’s dad out of his seat on the council. It will be easy enough to prove Sky is his son, even if the resemblance is not enough, a simple DNA test will work, but proving he is his son won’t give him the position unless Ryder abdicates which is not likely given his arseholery. So we need a plan to make him leave.” I say
“Oo I love a good plot” Rain says. “We definitely need drinks though” She adds ordering a round of death by chocolate cocktails and tequila shots.
“So the only cases we learnt about of positions changing in the council were voluntary abdication, death or banishment” Sky says.
“We could just kill him? Oo like a real death by chocolate we could poison his drink” Rain says, after only one shot she is already willing to murder for our cause.
“We can’t just kill him, that would make us as bad as him” I say.
“Plus he may be a giant prick, but he is still my father. I’d like to at least speak to him about my mother and what happened to her before he dies.” Sky adds.
“Ok so abdication and death are out as options, that just leaves banishment” Rain says.
“If we can prove that he murdered people that would get him banished. That is why my mum got removed from the council.” I suggest.
“But he isn’t linked to any of the deaths, they are all attributed to the hunters.” Sky says.
“Do you think he might be working with them? When they captured me they did say one of the options was to join them, maybe that is what he did.” I think out loud.
“I doubt he is working for them, but he definitely seems like the type of guy to play both sides” Rain says.
“Ok so we need proof that he is using them to do his dirty work. My mum said that the council has never been able to gather enough evidence against him. We need to set up a trap, bait him into doing it and catch him in the act.” I say.
“What if we reveal ourselves, that would draw out the hunters. We could capture and interrogate them, then we tell him we have proof and wait for him to come to destroy it. We can live stream it to the council.” Rain suggests.
“We can’t just reveal ourselves, it’s dangerous!” Sky says, looking at me with concern.
I think for a minute and then smile. “Its prefect. What if we form our own real life superhero team. Think about it, people wouldn’t know it was us specifically, we would be doing good and helping to show normal humans that they don’t need to fear us and we would definitely draw out the hunters.” I say excitedly.
“I think its a terrible plan, you are drawing in the people your mother is trying to protect you from” Sky says.
“But we have so much protection, if any of the hunters get too close our guards will step in. They are authorised to kill them if it is in defence of us. Plus isn’t it better that we draw them out and we are ready for them rather than living our lives in fear of them finding us and having the upper hand.” I say.
“I still don’t like it” Sky says.
“Well I love it! Can I please design our costumes?” Rain says
“Yes!” I say clincking my glass against hers in a toast.
