The Elementals: Chapter 43 Trust

We follow Hades in silence back to my office in the underworld. Once the door is closed he finally speaks.
“I wanted to apologise and explain myself” He starts.
When neither of us respond he sighs and continues. “I want you to know that I’m on your side, I know it is hard to believe, but I never wanted you to get hurt Sky and I’m sorry. I knew our plan wasn’t working, when I came here I overheard a conversation between my mother and Ryder. Ryder was going to call the council to punish you for exposing us to the humans. I couldn’t let him do that to you. He caught me listening and so I had to think quickly. I pretended to be on his side, wanting to double cross you because you rejected me as a suitor. The whole thing with Sky was not well thought out and I’m sorry, I genuinely thought we would get there before anything happened to him. I really am sorry.” Hades says with sad puppy dog eyes that make it near impossible to hate him. In all honesty, I believe him and his story checks out with what I saw on the cctv.
“You realise that telling me you played both ides, doesn’t exactly make me think I can trust you.” I say
“It’s ok Lily. There was no harm done.” Sky says trying to brush it off to keep the peace.
“No, she is right. Trust needs to be earned. Tell me how I can do that, please” Hades says.
I think for a minute, unsure I’m ready to forgive him. “You need to prove your loyalty to me” I say and I smile as I catch a worried look cross Sky’s face remembering how I made him prove it. “Not like that.” I tell Sky before continuing. “We want to abolish the rules about hiding from humans, support us at the next meeting”.
“Of course, I think that those rules belong in the past anyway. Many of the older council members will vote against you though so don’t get your hopes up. Sky, what about you? Is there anything I can do earn your trust and friendship?” Hades asks.
“You could stop hitting on my fiancé for one. Oh and you could let me in on your secret.” Sky says smiling.
“You ask too much… wait fiancé? Is it true?” Hades asks
“Yes” I say happily
“My heart breaks, it is not fair that such a beauty should belong to just one man… although I suppose he is a worthy man” Hades says dramatically
“What is this secret you want to know?” I ask curious
“My families secret sauce recipe. It goes with me to my grave unless I have a child to pass it on to” Hades explains
“Well you did almost send me to my grave, I think it’s a fair trade” Sky bargains.
“Very well, but you must swear a blood oath not to tell anyone, not even Lily!” Hades gives in.
“Deal!” says Sky excitedly
“I was actually going to make some tonight for… a date, you can help if you like” Hades offers.
“Oh, who is the poor innocent soul you are about to corrupt?” I ask
“I suspect she is far from innocent, she is actually a challenge for me, maybe too wild for one man to tame, but I’m definitely going to enjoy trying” he says suspiciously avoiding my question.
“Oh god, please tell me you are not fucking Rain?!” Sky says horrified
“No, don’t get me wrong, I tried, but she has not forgiven me for putting Lily through all that stress.” He says and Sky visibly relaxes and goes to get a glass of water. “you do know her though, watching her fight in that sexy red costume really did something to me” Hades continues and Sky drops the glass, glass shattering and scattering across the floor.
“That is lovely, isn’t it Sky, I hope you are both very happy together.” I say covering
