The Elementals: Chapter 28 Tour
I wake up all hot and bothered after a steamy dream about skinny dipping and a beach. The man of my dreams sends a pang of guilt rushing through me. I should never have led Hades on last night, it was unfair when the only person I want is Sky.
Realising I overreacted, I reach for my phone and try to call him, but annoyingly there is no signal here. I will just have to get through the next few days avoiding Hades and then I can talk to him properly.
A knock at my door makes me jump.
"Who is it?" I ask
"I will be anyone you want me to be if you open the door" a sexy accent replies.
"I'm not decent Hades" I reply hoping he will take the hint and leave.
"I don't believe that, but I will wait if you wish. Dress casually, I will take you on a tour." He says.
I roll my eyes at his flattery, but I get up. I dress in my jeans and a vest top and scrub my face of all last night's make up. I hope that my lack of effort will reduce his interest in me.
"Ok, but I need to meet my mother to train this afternoon so we can't be out long and I need breakfast before I leave" I say leaving the room.
"How could I deny such beauty. There is a very good bakery I know if you are willing to eat on the way." He says.
"As long as you are paying" I say as I follow him out.
The pastries are divine, definitely worth leaving the house for. Hades has actually been charming and to my surprise a complete gentleman aside from his wondering eyes.
"So now that you are fed, let's fly" he says.
“I’m not allowed to fly unless absolutely necessary, my mother says it's dangerous" I explain.
"Maybe up there, but down here there is nothing to fear and flying is the quickest way to travel. " He says.
"I guess it would be nice to practice, I have only flown a couple of times" I say changing into my dragon.
"Such a magnificent creature should never be caged" he says before changing too and taking off.
I follow him and take in the sights that rush past us. At important landmarks Hades stops and changes back, explain the importance of each place. He obviously knows far more than I do about this place, you can tell by his charm and his knowledge that he was raised to be on a position of power. He may look like a model, but he sounds like a politician.
"I wish I had grow up here. There is so much I still have to learn and I need to take my seat on the council soon" I say.
"Perhaps it is best you were not raised here, a different perspective could be what the council needs. Besides, I will be by your side to help." He says taking my hand in his and stroking it.
Ok, I have to tell him, without the alcohol and anger clouding my judgement, I can see that this is wrong.
"Hades, I'm sorry, but I can't marry you. I don't know what my mother arranged, but I love someone else. I should never have agreed to this meeting or led you on."
"Oh thank god!” He says and I see a chip in his composure which is quickly replaced.
"You mean you are not disappointed?" I ask
"Disappointed that I can't be with you, very. But disappointed that we won't marry not at all. I am not ready to settle down, it would be a crime for me to keep all this from the world.” He says
"Well I'm glad we agree. I hope we can be friends" I say.
"I would like to be more than your friend. I hope this love of yours slips up, when he does I will be here with open legs."
"The phrase is with open arms" I correct.
"I know" he says and winks.
I roll my eyes at him "well we did have a fight before I left. I might yet have to take you up on that offer"
"They must be a fool not to see your value." He says
"Oh he saw my value, he just thought that I'd share it around” I explain.
"Oh well this I can understand, surely men fall at your feet. It makes sense he would worry about losing you." He says
"Huh, I never thought of it like that. And men do not fall at my feet" I say
"Are you sure about that?" He says and dramatically falls to the ground to kiss my feet.
"Stop it! You will get all dirty" I say laughing
"It is worth it to see you smile" he says turning his charm back on.
"Come on, I need to get back, show me the way." I ask
"As you wish" he says and takes off.
