The Elementals: Chapter 45 Hope

In all the wallowing in self pity that I did over the past few weeks, no-one, not a single person suggested that I should actually take a pregnancy test. It was only after going to the doctor in the underworld this morning to discuss options that I discovered it.
I’m approximately 2 months pregnant. If I had found this out 2 months ago I would have freaked out that it was too soon and I had too many other commitments, but after thinking that I couldn’t have children I’m nothing but joyous. It has been an emotional rollercoaster, but it made me realise how precious the gift of a child really is. I’m not out of the woods yet, because there is a risk of miscarriage, but I’m hopeful.
I can’t wait to tell Sky, I have thought of approximately 100 different ways I could do it and researched the best baby reveals, but I don’t actually think I have the patience to do any of that. I’m just so desperate to tell him.
As I walk into the flat and hear footsteps coming towards me I scream excitedly “I’m pregnant”
“Oh holy shit! Really?” Rain says coming flying towards me and trapping me in a bear hug.
“Oh oops, where is Sky? I thought you were him.” I say
“I’m offended that you were thinking of telling him before me. But he isn’t home yet” Rain answers
“Well he is the father, he will be mad if he finds out that you know first.” I say.
“I don’t think he will care, he will just be so happy. I’m so happy for you both. Oo but since we have time before he comes, let me help you do it properly.” Rain says excited.
Rain finds a ribbon and ties it around my stomach in a pretty bow and then hides it under my jumper.
“Whats this?” I ask.
“You are going to get him to find his surprise, be patient, I don’t care how much he begs, let him work it out.” Rain instructs.
We hear the door opening and Rain goes to hide behind the long curtain.
“Hi Honey, how was the doctor?” Sky asks as he comes in and kisses me on the cheek before going to take his coat off.
“It was good, I actually got something for you. A surprise, but you have to find it.” I say, failing to hide my grin.
“I don’t want a surprise, I just want you.” He says pulling me in for a long kiss.
When he lets me up for air I reply “You will want this. Now play along, I will tell you if you are hot or cold.”
“Fine.” He says as he moves towards the kitchen where Rain is hiding.
I quickly shout “Cold” before he spots her shoes. Sky turns and walks to the living room. “Still cold”. He moves towards the bedroom “Still cold” I say.
“Damn, I was really hoping I could get you in there” Sky says as he moves closer to me.
“Hotter” I say. He looks around the hallway confused. He takes another step to me “Hotter” I say again. He smiles slyly and pulls me into his arms “Very hot” I say.
“Ok, I do like this surprise.” He concedes.
“You are not finished yet. You have to find the bow.” I say teasing him.
He lifts off my jumper excited by this game now, but freezes when he sees the position of the ribbon. “Not what I was expecting.” He says.
“Why do you think there is a bow there?” I ask holding back the urge to tell him.
“On your stomach? I don’t kn… The doctors.. Your.. are you?” Sky stumbles trying to process what his brain dares not to hope for.
“I’m pregnant!” I scream with the same enthusiasm that I gave to Rain.
Sky picks me up and twirls me around “Thats amazing! You are amazing! I love you” He says and then kisses me as I wrap my legs around him to pull him tight against me.
“Congratulations!” Rain says jumping out and blowing a party horn which I have no idea how she found.
“I should have known you helped with this” Sky says rolling his eyes.
“Well she was just going to scream it at you, so really you should be thanking me for putting on such a good show on short notice” Rain says.
“Well thank you, you are going to make an amazing aunty” Sky says.
“I’d like you to be my maid of honour first. How quickly do you think we can throw a wedding together? I don’t want to be fat for the photos” I say.
Rain looks like she is genuinely speechless which is a rarity and I can see her fighting back tears of happiness. “I can have a wedding planned in 2 weeks if you are willing to be flexible, but with the power you guys have now, I bet you can get a lot of strings pulled.” She says when she recovers.
“Then you better get started, the sooner the better” Sky says beaming and looking at me with so much love, I feel my own heart swell with emotion.

So I was too much of a control freak to completely let Rain plan the wedding, but we did manage to get everything organised and arranged in record time. I’m incredibly thankful that the hen do was 4 days before the wedding itself because my bridesmaids very much needed that time to recover. Being the only one who remmebered the night was actually more fun that I thought, I got to go along with all their drunken antics and not have to deal with a hangover afterwards. Skinny dipping in Sanotini was a highlight, which made me very grateful that Hades went to Sky’s stag instead of my hen do. Sky and Hades were trying to out bid each other to see the photos, but thankfully I have the only copies on my phone so that is not happening. I should just delete them, but part of me wants to hang on to them to remember the wild and carefree side of me after the baby is born and changes things.
The wedding day has finally arrived and I’m being helped into my beautiful wedding gown by my beautiful best friend. My wedding dress is a white ball gown style with red floral details, my bridesmaids dresses are the opposite red dresses with white floral patterns. My dress hugs my curves tightly accentuating my waist and pushing my chest up. We decided just to let my hair flow naturally, but Rain has done an amazing job of my make up, my lips perfectly match the dresses and my eyes natural colour is being highlighted by mascara. I have opted for a simple ankle boot to walk in to suit the setting.
I wanted a small intimate wedding in a fairytale setting. We chose a place where the earth and the air kingdoms over lap, at the top of Mt Everest, so that in a way my dad and Skys mum could be part of our day. There is not a lot at the top, clouds and snow and rocks mostly, but we have set up a small alter and a few seats for the guests. The air and water dragons present have been working to keep the sky clear so that we can get some good photos.
Rain and I fly in and change to our human forms where my mum is waiting to escort me down the aisle.
“You look beautiful sweetie, I’m so proud of you” She whispers as we walk up the small isle.
I smile at her, but when I see Sky standing waiting for me, looking incredibly handsome in his black suit and red shirt, he is all I can pay attention to. I don’t even really register what the priest is saying, I’m just eagerly awaiting the confirmation. Sky says “I do” and I realise that it is my turn.
“I do” I say on cue, smiling brightly.
“Then I now pronounce you man and wife, you may kiss the bride and light the candle of your union.” The priest announces.
Sky barely lets him finish before he grabs me and dips me down, kissing me deeply without a care for our spectators. In this moment I feel complete, like I have everything I could have ever asked for and more. I never want it to end, but inevitably we have to break apart and continue the celebrations with everyone gathered.
The party goes long into the night, with dances from so many different cultures and the most amazing chocolate cake I have ever eaten. I eventually give up on the party ending and pull Sky away to begin our honeymoon and finish the perfect day with a perfect bang.
