The Elementals: Chapter 29 Misunderstanding

My time in the underworld passes too quickly in a blur of training, meetings and parties. I have actually come to think of hades as a friend, usually it takes me a while to warm up to trusting people, but there is something about his flirtatious charm that draws me in. He has agreed to play along with the arranged marriage for the time being to allow my mother to return to the underworld when she likes. She is so happy here that I don’t want to take her back, but I am desperate to see Sky again.
I also can’t wait to tell Rain about Hades, I think they would be a match made in heaven, well I suppose a match made in hell would be more accurate.
Hades escorts us back up through the volcano to say goodbye and help carry bottles of champagne for Rain. As we emerge and change back into our human selves, he takes my hand and kisses it like the first time we met. “No seas extraña, hermosa” He says which I struggle to translate roughly to don’t be a stranger beautiful.
“Thank you for everything. I’m sure we will meet again soon” I say and turn to walk up the volcano with my mother. As I turn I see Sky looking down at us. Before I can even smile at him, he changes and flies off.
“Wait Sky! It’s not what you think!” I say exasperated. I’m about to follow him when Hades catches my hand.
“Please, allow me to talk to him” He says and then quickly flies after Sky.
I hate to think how that conversation is going to go, so I just climb back out of the volcano with my mum and wait for them both to return, hopefully not in pieces.

Sky’s POV.

I can t believe her! I know I shouldn’t have spoken to her like that, I regretted it straight away, but it didn’t give her the right to cheat. I camped out here for days waiting for her, waiting to apologise, but how could I apologise after seeing that. He kissed her! And she just smiled at him! I’m angry and sad and jealous all rolled up in one emotional rollercoaster. I don’t even know where I’m flying to, I just know I need to get away.
Suddenly something crashes into the side of me and sends me plummeting to the earth before I can react. I scramble to my feet and look around to work out what happened. I landed in a large field of tall corn crops. I turn to see that what knocked me out of the sky was another dragon with glowing golden eyes. He shifts back to a human form and I realise it is the sleasebag that took my woman’s hand, that kissed my girl’s supple skin. Before he talks I growl at him. I change to human form and throw air at him to pin him to the ground.
“Just listen to me, it’s not what you think!” He says in a heavy accent.
“She is mine! You have no right to touch her like that!” I say squeezing him tighter.
His hands glow with fire and he throws a ball at me, making me dodge and release him. “That is exactly what I came to tell you, you idiot! She is yours” He says.
“Huh?” Is all I manage, that caught me off guard.
“Believe me, I tried, but she said that her heart belongs to another. While I can’t see why, I can only assume that she meant you” He says
“What do you mean you tried?” I ask getting angry again.
“Oh please, I’m a very hot blooded male and she is drop dead gorgeous, especially in that black dress. But that is not the point. She didn’t want me, she wants you. Now you really should go and apologise to her…. Or don’t, maybe if she stays mad enough at you she will reconsider my advances.” He says.
As much as I want to pummel him to the ground, I know he is right so I quickly fly off to get my girl back.
When I return to her she smiles at me and then looks over my shoulder concerned “Please tell me you didn’t kill Hades?” She says.
“Maybe I should have.” I say, unimpressed at her concern. She hits me in the shoulder pushing me backwards.
“Sky, be nice, he is my friend. Just my friend. He just can’t help but flirt with anything that moves.” She says.
“He didn’t flirt with me, actually he was quite rude.” I say.
“Give him time. I think he was probably just defending me” She says.
“Well at least I can respect that about him. I suppose that I should be grateful that there are other people willing to defend you. I’m sorry I overreacted and I’m sorry about what I said when you left. I have been waiting to apologise for days, seeing you with him just caught me off guard. I have really missed you.” I say.
“Well I was almost ready to forgive you, but after that stunt, I think you still have more grovelling and amends making to do.” She says playfully.
“What did you have in mind?” I ask.
“You will see” She says and walks off to her mother before returning to me. I watch her mother fly away in the helicopter.
“We aren’t leaving with her?” I ask.
“I want to take a small detour. There is something I want to try, a dream I’d like to recreate” she says pulling my hand and walking me towards the beach.
