Chapter 101: Sawyer

“We still need a name for him,” Bryn says.

We’ll be allowed to take the little guy home tomorrow since Bryn is doing well and so is he, but this has been a problem. We can’t seem to agree on a name, and he needs that for his birth certificate and shit. So here we are, picking a name for the last hour.

“How about Bryant? It's close to your name.” I offer even though I hate the name as soon as I say it.

It sounds like an uptight asshole name, and I do not want my kid to be named something like that. Thankfully Bryn scrunches up her nose and I’m relieved.

“Aiden?” Maddox offers.

Bryn hums in consideration and looks at our baby as if she’s trying to see the name written above his head.

“Uh, why is this so hard?” She growls with frustration making the baby fuss and quickly coos him back to sleep.

She’s a natural with him. Not that it’s a surprise given how she is with Molly but it still impresses me.

“His name has to fit him. You know?” She says with a sigh. “Maybe I’m overthinking this.”

I laugh and grab her hand. “We have the rest of the day to think about it, so don’t rush.”

She nods but still looks disappointed, so I decide to distract her for a minute.

“So now that you know about the move, why don’t we discuss houses?” I tell her.

She perks up a little. “Won’t we have to rent for a while? I mean it can take a while to find a house let alone buy it right?”

“My agent…” Man, that’s weird to say. “Said he can get us anything we need for the move and not to worry about anything. So we just need to pick a place and he’ll take care of the rest.”

“Henry!” Bryn shouts suddenly.

“Henry?” I ask looking at my son. “Henry Beckett.”

“You know if we all get married we are going to need a new last name.” Jaxon points out.

“Why? You guys can all be Becketts.” I say with a scoff. “It’s perfect since Bryn already has my last name.”

“No. I think we should either come up with our own or take Bryn’s.” Jaxon says giving our girl a too sweet smile.

“You guys would really take my name?” She asks looking a little shocked he would offer.

I guess it isn’t common for couples to take the woman’s last name, but I don’t see why not now that Jaxon has mentioned it.

“Hell yeah, angel! I’m down with representing my girl.” He acts like he’s ready to go down today and get it changed.

Bryn doesn’t seem convinced though. “Raven doesn’t seem to suit all of you though. Maybe we should come up with a family name.”

She contemplates it for a second and then a slow smile appears on her face but she shakes her head.

“What?” I ask her.

“Nothing it was a weird and dumb thought.” She says waving me off.

“You couldn’t think or say anything dumb sweetheart. Tell us.” Maddox pushes.

Bryn sighs. “Bennett.”

There’s a moment of silence while we all consider the name. Nolan chuckles and gives Bryn a knowing smile.

“I like it.” He says and Bryn’s smile widens.

“What’s going on?” I ask them.

“Bennett is the family name from Pride and Prejudice, Bryn’s favorite book.” He explains.

Right. The family with the mom who keeps trying to find her daughter's husbands.

“Jaxon Bennett. I don’t know what my mom thought naming me Jaxon to start with and now Bennett…no one would believe I’m half African with a name like that. I don’t hate it though.”

“Maddox? Any objections?” I ask.

He shakes his head and I realize he isn’t listening at all. His eyes and smile are directed at Bryn and the baby. If he has anything to say she’s going to be pregnant again in no time and this time with his baby. I wonder how pissed he would be if he and Bryn have a girl. I consider that for a moment and remember one of those events where the team hosts a bunch of kids on the ice. There were these three little girls that were all over Maddox. He looks like he would be a girl dad, which is funny given that he’s a fucking monster of a guy.

Maybe that’s why Bryn loves cuddling with him all the damn time. Alright, I sound bitter but I used to be the one she cuddled with and now I’m the one clinging to her in the big spoon side of things while she’s suffocated by the big guy. Well unless Nolan is in bed too, then he spoons her and I sleep on the other side of the bed. We need to get a bigger bed for the new house. Also, will we all share the same room or each of us have a different room?

I guess that would be up to Bryn, but we’ll have to work on a rotation schedule if end up all sleeping in the same bed together.

“You guys I wasn’t serious! Who names themselves after people in books like that?” She says with a nervous laugh.
“People use names from movies or people in history, so what’s weird about using book names?” Nolan asks her.

She glances at each of us and a smile slowly forms on her lips. “We’re doing this?”

“We are. Now about the house.” I say moving on to the next subject because we need to get this figured out.

“Right. Pemberly.” She says and Nolan chuckles.

I glance at the others and they shrug. It must be some kind of inside joke.

“Are we all sharing a room, because if that’s the case then we don’t need as many bedrooms. Unless we want lots of room for when family visits.” I offer up for discussion.

“Well, aren’t the family moving there going to have their own places?” Maddox asks.

His parents are not among the ones coming, but someday they might want to visit. Especially if he has a kid someday.

“Some aren’t, or we can even keep them for friends.” I offer. “But are we going to all share a room?”

There’s silence and everyone looks at each other before we all turn our attention on Bryn. She jolts back a little.

“What? You want me to decide?” She asks a little panicked.

“Do you want to share a bed with all of us or take turns with who spends the night in your room?” I ask her.

She hums. “That’s hard. I love it when we’re all together, but I’m sure you guys would like to have your own rooms when you don’t feel like the sleep pile.”

That makes me chuckle. I understood that reference.

“I don’t mind sleeping next to you every night sweetheart you know that,” Maddox says without hesitation.

“Same, but it’s gotten crowded lately,” Nolan adds. “Plus I’m not a fan of Sawyer’s morning wood poking me in the ass.”

I scoff. “The fuck it does. You’re the one that pushes your ass in my direction. I am minding my own business and boom.”

That sends us into a debate on who accidentally feels up the other when we’re half asleep.

“I have to agree with Nolan man, you get clingy in your sleep,” Jaxon says jumping in.

“Guys!” Bryn calls out and Henry immediately starts to cry. “Shoot! Sorry sweet boy. Hang on.”

She pulls down her top and Henry latches on to her with no problem at all. “Like father like son,” I say proudly.

Bryn makes a sound of shock and then pelts me with a pillow. “Shut up!”

I laugh and the others chuckle and shake their heads. All their eyes are fixed on where Henry is latched on to Bryn’s boob.

“Stop that!” She reprimands us.

“Sorry.” All of us grumble and then do a horrible job of trying not to look.

Torture.

“I wonder what it tastes like.” Jaxon blurts out.

I scrunch up my nose at the thought but he looks serious. “Why do you ask?”

“Babies seem to like it a lot, so it must be good right? Angel…” He sings her nickname and wiggles his brows at her.

Her face flushes pink. “Isn’t that gross?”

Jaxon rolls his eyes. “Hell no. It’s just another piece of you I get to taste.”

Well, when he puts it that way. “Fine I’ll taste it, but only from the source and with her very very naked.”

Bryn Scoffs. “You’re all crazy.”

“Now I’m curious too,” Maddox says.

“We can’t have sex for 6 weeks! It would only be torture for you guys.” She reminds us.

Shit, she’s right. No sex for 6 weeks? We’re going to lose our damn minds.

“There will still be milk after that right?” Jaxon asks.

He really is serious.
