CHAPTER 20

SIA
The rays of sunlight reflected on my face. I yawned and stretched with my eyes still closed. I felt like I've woken up from another dream. I feel a bit pain and laziness. It feels like I shouldn't get up from this bed, I opened my eyes and realization hit me. I jerked up with full force from the bed, why did I let myself get so carried away?
I am tired but I should not forget the fact that I still have a job to to to. That's what brought me here in the first place isn't it. I looked around the room and my eyes met with Kevin's. He's seated across the room holding a cup of coffee in hand and w
staring at me.
I swallowed loudly, he has long been awake and I've been sleeping on his bed like an idiot.
"Good morning." I said nervously.
He shook his head and dropped the coffee on the table beside him.
"You don't need to be so nervous around me anymore. I'm not going to bite you. Don't worry about getting late, just go take your bath and get ready for breakfast." He assured me.
I felt a bit relieved, I'm not shocked that he's defending me anymore. I just never expected things to take turns so fast. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
"Thank you. I'll go take my bath now." I replied with a smile.
I made to leave the room, then I remembered what happened last night when I tried to. I turned to look at him, his gaze still fixed on me. I would love to stay here but my clothes are in my room, and also my accessories. That's why I need to leave though I don't know if he will consent to it.
"Can I..."
"You can. Don't take long. Meet me downstairs." He cut me off.
I nodded and walked out of the room. My cheeks turning tomato red as I closed the door behind me, it still feels like a dream.
I've never really had a good relationship like this. Especially when I became an Omega, everyone wanted to stay away from me because they think I'm useless.
Most boys wanted nothing to do with me and they all bullied me at school. It's good to know I finally have someone who likes me and who won't hurt me like they did. I should call my aunt and tell her about this. I got to my room and picked up my phone, I totally forgot that I didn't take it with me last night.
I already have tons of texts and missed calls from my aunt. Of course it will be from my aunt, she's the only family who has my number. Filled with guilt, I decided to call her back. She must be worried about me since I didn't pick my calls or reply her texts.
"You finally decided to communicate with me..." She said immediately after picking the call.
I bit my lips, "It's not what you think aunt."
"Tell me what to think dear. You hardly call me and when I do, you refuse to pick up. Are you too busy to talk to me now?" She sounded upset and hurt.
I sighed, "I am so sorry aunt. It's not what you're thinking. There's a lot going on that I haven't told you about. The last few days has just been... shocking and joyful."
"Joyful? What's going on? Did you get promoted already?" She asked with a hint of confusion in her voice.
"It's more than that aunt. This is the most shocking revelation ever. I'll tell you how it all happened."
I told her about everything. How he decided to claim me as his mate, except the sex part.
"This is so great. Even if he's from another pack, I don't care. All I want is for you to find your mate and be happy in life. Even if you missed some parts, I already know everything."
I laughed. Of course what was I thinking. She was bound to find out what I'm hiding anyway.
"I also have something to tell you." Her voice sounded serious.
"What is it aunt? Did something happen?"
She breathe in and out, I could hear loudly from the phone.
"Your father has been calling me. He said he wants to see me and he's even making threats." She blurted out.
I immediately got angry. Hasn't my father done enough by throwing me out and making us suffer? What does he want with her again? We have all learnt to stay away from him and his family, I don't understand why he's bothering aunt again.
"What does he want? Did he tell you why he's bothering you?." i asked frustrated.
"Don't worry about it. Just focus on your life and enjoy it. Your father will regret ever throwing a jewel like you away when he finds out what you become." She assured me.
Aunt is hiding the truth from me. She has to tell me why he's bothering her after abandoning us. I didn't do anything and I'm sure aunt did not do anything to him. I know how cruel and hard my father can be. Everyone in the house always tries to avoid his wrath. I'm the only one that has gotten far as unleashing it over something that's not my fault.
"Don't hide this from me aunt. Remember that I'm the reason you are going through all these. Please tell me what is going on." I begged.
"Like I said. I can take care of myself, it's nothing to worry about. I just want you to also take care of yourself so nothing goes wrong. I have to rush now, I'm still at my part time job. We will talk later, bye."
She hung up before I could say anything else. I know she's trying to protect me. We have to be strong for each other, I'll find a way to visit her so I can know what is really going on. Something's not right, I'm scared for her.
I walked into the bathroom and took my bath. I came out a while later and checked the time. I rushed to wear my clothes and dry my hair. I took so long on the phone that I totally forgot about my work.
I hope he doesn't get mad at me. I walked downstairs in a rush, I bumped into him on my way to the dining room. I looked away to avoid his gaze, he must be mad at me now. He's already leaving.
"What took you so long? I was coming to check on you." He asked.
I looked up, "I'm sorry. I actually slept off... I mean slipped off... I couldn't find my phone actually."
He observed me for a minute and smiled.
"Let's have breakfast."
He walked back to the table while I followed him. Our breakfast was served and we began to eat. All the while he kept giving me uncomfortable stares. I am supposed to be free around him now but that is not the case.
We had breakfast in silence, as usual he doesn't talk much when he's eating. Most things about him are exceptional. After breakfast, we proceeded to leave the house.
Seth came to pick us up, we silently got into the car.
"You should try telling me the truth. I won't kill you for doing that." He said when the car took off.
He has been silent since breakfast, I guess it's because of my lie.
"I'm sorry. I just wanted to talk to her because I saw all her missed calls." I apologized.
He nodded, "Accepted. We have a lot to do today. I hope you didn't forget my schedule."
"No I didn't. You have two meetings today. One in the morning, and one by afternoon. You also have lunch with the new investors from china and..."
He stopped me. "It's good to know you remember all that. I didn't think you'd remember after all that happened yesterday."
I blushed in embarrassment and hid my face. Mostly because there's someone else in the car with us, I feel so shy. Alpha Kevin is also talking dirty, he's just a good bad boy in every way.
"I have a pretty good memory." I boasted.
He nodded in agreement, "You do baby."
My jaws tightened. Baby? He's calling me that already? Does that mean we're official now? I mentally slapped myself for my stupidity. What was I thinking? We may be official now that he has claimed me as his luna. I am beginning to think like a stupid teenage human.
"Thank you...sir." I said not knowing what else to say.
My heart is literally threatening to pop out of my chest from the excitement. The way I feel is unexplainable because I've never felt this way towards anyone before. I'm thinking, do I suddenly feel this way just because he claimed me or had these feelings always been there?
"You should learn to start calling me in a romantic way darling." He whispered to my ears.
I giggled though not loudly, I still felt shy about the whole thing. I won't deny I'm attracted to him though.
We got to the company, I followed him behind like a normal assistant would do. Most people in the company would not stop giving me dirty looks. I guess they all think I am unqualified for this job and I just got lucky.
It's quite true though. I only got lucky and my luck is just beginning. We got to the office, Amanda welcomed him as usual. I wanted to say hi to her but she gave me dirty looks. I don't know what happened but she certainly doesn't seem happy with me. I began to think about what I might have done to get her angry but nothing tangible came to my head.
It's either she's in a bad mood or she's just mad at me for no reason. I decided to shrug it off and avoid her today. Perhaps she will be calm by tomorrow.
"When is the first meeting starting?" Kevin asked as soon as we entered the office.
"In fifteen minutes..." My phone began to ring interrupting my speech.
I removed it from my bag and saw the caller ID as an unknown number. I cut it off and put it back in my bag.
"Sorry about that. The meet..." The phone interrupted me again. I should just switch it off.
"You can pick up the call. I'll be at my desk." He said and went to sit at his desk.
I decided to pick up the unknown number, I wonder who it is.
"This is Sia speaking. What do you want?" I asked rudely.
I heard a growl, "I see you've become so bold now."
That voice. I recognize that voice anywhere.
"Father?" I called. Why is my father calling me and how did he get my number?
