CHAPTER 41

SIA
He looks so pathetic. Just now, he was running his mouth and saying things that didn't concern him. Now he's on his knees pleading for mercy. I honestly don't understand why people have to act so stupid sometimes.
"Do you have roasted crabs?" I asked him.
He nodded quickly, "Yes Luna! We have lots of them. Any variety you want."
I rubbed my stomach, "You know what, I actually feel so hungry. I don't think I can wait any longer."
"Let's eat here." I faced him.
He raised a brow in surprise, "Are you sure? You just said you didn't..."
"Who cares what I said? I'm hungry. Be fast."
I walked away to find us a table to sit.
I sat down waiting for him, he was still talking to the man. The man quickly got up and hurried away. I sighed, I would have felt guilty if I had let Kevin deal with him.
Not only does he have the right as the pack leader, there's a lot of things he could do to this man. It will all be my fault, then I would have a bad name as the Luna.
He came to sit in front of me, staring at me intently. Meanwhile my stomach is suddenly grumbling for food. Maybe because this whole place smells of food.
I don't know, these days I get strange feelings.
"You are one weird werewolf." He told me.
I suddenly remembered that I'm still mad at him. Though I don't have much feelings of anger anymore, maybe I truly needed to get out of that house like he suggested.
"You are one mean werewolf." I replied with a scoff.
"How am I mean?"
"You were about to shut down a restaurant with a lot of employees because of one man. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a job these days? Of course you don't! You're the CEO of the biggest company in the country and the Alpha of one of the biggest packs in the world. You can't relate." I folded my hands.
He sighed, "I won't let anyone disrespect you or talk to you in any disgusting way."
That made my heart flutter. Then I remembered Nina, she just had to cross my mind and ruin the moment.
"You always come here with her right?"
"Didn't we agree not to talk about that here. We came here to eat and forget everything happening at home." He frowned.
"Yeah. But that is inevitable. The moment we arrived here, we got reminded of her. I don't know how I am going to breathe now knowing she will be everywhere I go." I lamented.
"You are jealous." He stated.
I rolled my eyes, "I am not jealous of a dead person."
"Then, can we not talk about this anymore? I don't want you to continue getting angry because of this." He pleaded softly.
I melted at once. He is no longer the cold and ruthless Alpha Kevin I once met. He no longer shows his anger whenever he's with me. This is making me fall for him more.
How can I be mad at him? He just wanted to end someone's job because of me. He didn't care about the consequences or the many people involved. Is there any other way to show his love than his respect for me?
I didn't say anything else. The waiter brought the menu and I chose what I wanted to eat. Kevin stared at me wide eyed. I also don't understand why I want to eat this amount of food.
We ate dinner and had dessert. Kevin was settling the bills when the manager guy rushed over to our table.
"I have come to show my appreciation to you Alpha Kevin and Luna. I want you to forget the bills, it's on me." He offered.
"No. You don't need to do that. We will pay for what we ate." Kevin rejected.
His face went pale again. I can sense the fear he still feels.
I coughed, "This is such a tempting offer. But then, you've been working so hard. How about we split the payment. We pay half and you pay half?"
He nodded happily, "Yes Luna. You are indeed merciful and smart. I won't dare argue with you."
Kevin looks amused and bored at the same time. He eventually accepted my offer of paying half and we left the restaurant. They gave me a parting dessert as a gift, I didn't refuse.
"Where should we go now?" Kevin asked as we got into the car.
"Home? You said we should come for dinner. Do you have somewhere better than home?" I replied with a question.
"Do you want to go back home now? The night is still young and there's nothing to be afraid of. We're not humans after all."
Makes sense. He's right, I don't want to go home now. Staying out here makes me feel less worried, I would have loved us to go back to his own mansion if not for the tasks he has.
"So where do you suggest we go to?"
He smiled, his eyes portray so much love. Makes me feel like sometimes this is a dream. How this all happened fast is a big dream.
He drove off, he continued driving till he stopped in front of the island. I got out, the full breeze hitting my face and making my hair fly to my face.
"What are we doing here?" I asked trying to sound mad. The truth is, I am no longer mad at him. Rather than cry, I should fight for him. He is mine after all. He's my mate. I deserve to be with him and not her, I shouldn't let her intimidate me.
"Watching the sea. We can leave if you don't like it." He told me.
"It's fine. We're here already. It will be totally unfair to just leave like that." I scoffed.
He sat on the bonnet of the car. I also sat down with him. We both watched the sea without saying anything to each other. Then I wonder how long we are going to be this silent like strangers.
"The stars are beautiful tonight. Not more beautiful than you though." He finally said.
Even though I see it as just flattery, I blushed. I tried to hide my face so he wouldn't see how much I'm blushing right now.
"You shouldn't try to flatter me much. I won't take that bribe."
He sighed and got down from the car. He's sad, I felt it.
"I know how you feel. I don't mind if you keep treating me this way. But what I can't take is...having to lose you." He said not facing me.
Somehow, my tears found their way out of my eyes. I rushed to him and hugged him from behind. Gosh he's so romantic, he's always making me cry.
"I don't want to lose you too. That's why I can't stand seeing you with her. Knowing that she's someone you felt love for makes me more insecure. I can't..."
He turned around placing a finger on my lips to stop me from talking.
"You shouldn't be. You have nothing to worry about except you want to worry yourself over nothing. I am yours, you are mine. We love each other very much. That's all that matters."
I nodded my head and hugged him. I felt the warmth of his body and his beautiful scent. I want us to remain like this and not go elsewhere.
"Would you like us to go back to the mansion?" He suddenly asked.
I can't say no. Since he must be tired and wants to go home, I can't stop him from resting.
"You must be very tired. Let's go quickly." I tried to drag him away but he didn't budge.
I stopped, "What is wrong with you? Don't you wanna leave anymore?"
"I don't mean the palace mansion. I mean my own mansion, where you used to stay with me and had the liberty to do whatever you want."
He's talking about his house. He must have read my thoughts earlier.
"But... That's going to be stressful for you. Coming from there to the palace mansion, going for all those meetings and attending to your pack needs. It's hard."
"I don't care. I want you to live comfortably and be happy. I don't want you to feel bullied anymore." He replied with a smile.
I sighed. He's doing all these for me? Neglecting his duties and responsibilities, fighting his family for me. This is all becoming too much. There's no way I can live with knowing that I might cause him great trouble in future.
"I won't go." I refused.
His face dropped, he looks surprised that I'm rejecting such a great offer.
"Why? I know you are not comfortable with anyone in that place. I want you to be where you will feel free and happy." He protested.
I shrugged, "My place is with you. Why should I run away? A Luna who runs away from responsibilities? I am staying with you till the end. I don't care what happens, I won't run away."
"And don't even try to convince me. I have made up my mind. I won't leave you alone so you can see her occasionally."
He arched a brow amused, "Why didn't you just say you're doing this because of Nina. You're naughty, little jealous wolf."
I rolled my eyes, "Well get used to it. I won't take it lightly with you or her the next time I catch you together. Hmph!"
He stared at me for a while before bursting into laughter. I also joined him in laughing. We sat on the ground watching the stars together, this is a romantic night. I don't ever want to lose you, Kevin.
