CHAPTER 57

NINA
Robin has gone too far. How could he do that to his own mother and now Kevin suspects everyone. Sometimes it's hard to convince people that what you did is wrong. How am I going to get out of this mess? It's getting worse everyday. Sheila has gone to stay with her mother at the hospital so I practically have no one to talk to now. Robin and I are not even on good terms and I don't want to talk about it.
My door barged open. I was expecting that to be Robin and it turns out to be Kevin. He has this fierce look that makes me detect something is going on with him. The way he looked at me made me shiver.
"Kevin. What are you doing here? Do you need anything?" I asked him.
"What are you talking about? This happens to be my house and I can do whatever I want it in it. I wanna talk to you... About my father." He said firmly.
That made me get scared, what is he talking about? Could it be that he suspects me already? Did Robin tell anything?
"Kevin you sound mad. What do you want to know? I mean I don't understand why you suddenly want to talk about your father with me and not your family." I said nervously.
He walked around the room and also around me in circles that I started to feel dizzy. What is Kevin doing to me?
"You know what I mean! You should tell me everything you know about my father's death. I mean everything with no detail left out." He yelled at me.
I moved away from him, but he kept coming close to me with murderous stares. I stopped walking when I had nowhere to go.
"Are you going to tell me the truth now or should I force it out of you?" He growled at me.
"Kevin you need to stop! You have been unfair to me since I came back. I am going through a lot of trauma too. You think bringing your father up doesn't make me feel bad? He saved my life and lost his, that's something I won't ever forget." I said getting emotional.
He wasn't moved, instead he stayed there and waited for for me to talk.
"You're accusing me of something I know nothing about. Why do you think I have something to do with his death?" I added with a question.
"You are so good at pretending yet all this years I thought you were good. Only for you to betray me. You think I would never find out you and Robin are involved in my father's death!"
I was taken aback by his sudden outburst. He knows! How am I going to explain this without getting killed by then or without losing my head? No! I can't give in just like that. I also have to defend myself and not let him step all over me. If he doesn't have proof then it's nothing.
"Kevin I have told you I know nothing about his death. I am also a victim too, you should blame everything on Robin if you suspect him. You know how evil your brother is." I defended myself still refusing to tell him the truth.
He held my neck, making me gasp for air. I was choking, I never expected him to do that. His eyes show that he is so angry.
"It was you, wasn't it? You came to my mansion at the city that night. You have been spying on me for a long time..." He said still holding my neck. I was still gasping.
"...You never died. You were never a victim. You planned with my brother and killed my father. What I want to know is why? Why?!"
I am going to die if he doesn't release me. I can't even breathe, how will answer that question? He seemed to notice that and released me, I coughed and some blood came from my nose. I wiped it with my hands and looked at him shakily.
"Kevin... I'm sorry." Was all I could say.
"I want to know why. Not why my brother killed my father, but why you helped him? You claimed to love me and you will never betray me. I almost lost my mind when I heard you died. And now the truth is that you never died?" He asked visibly hurt.
I sniffled, "Kevin. I am sorry. I know I sound stupid right now and no amount of sorry would undo the harm I have caused you. I never really wanted to do it. I was misled by Robin. He told me different things about your father and you, he also gave me proof."
"What things?"
"He said your father was planning to marry you to another pack leader's daughter, and you accepted that you wanted to chase me away. He told me your father planned to kill me if I refuse to stay away from you. That's when I started to follow his advice and betray you. I thought with your father out of the way, you'll be with me..."
"...So we deceived your father and a maid into the house. I never entered there, that maiden was made to look like me. I hid at a cave for months, Robin gave me news about how you moved on fast. He told me you didn't want me anymore and showed me pictures of you with another woman. That made me angry, I hated you more."
"This is unbelievable!"
"That's not all. I started coming out of the cave a few months later. And truly I saw you with that woman. I got angry, I waited till Robin asked me to come out. That's when I came here, I'm sorry Kevin. I am only telling you this because I don't trust Robin anymore. He told me the truth."
Kevin held his head and growled. There's no way I can defeat Kevin because he is so much stronger than me. I knelt down at his feet and held his leg.
"Please Kevin, I am sorry about what I did. I know I deserve to be punished but please tamper justice with mercy." I pleaded.
"Let me go Nina! You are the worst type of betrayal I have ever seen. You killed my father for that stupid reason of not losing me? After going on that path, you think I'll ever want to be with you again?" He yelled at me.
I nodded, "I know. You don't deserve someone like me. I have lost everything and I am quite aware of that. I only want you to forgive me, and I'll help you defeat Robin even if I lose my life. This is what I owe you at least."
"This is what you owe? Please Nina, I don't want to see you. I won't do anything to you, I expect you to get out of here and never come back. If I see you again, I won't hold myself accountable for whatever happens to you." He warned me and left the room in anger.
I fell on the floor and cried. This is all Robin's fault. He misled me and made me lose the love of my life, Kevin was so good to me. He was sincere and truly loved me even if I wasn't his mate. He wasn't interested in finding a mate anymore because of me.
I messed it up. I chased him away and he fell into the hands of another woman. I don't even deserve to fight for him after what I did. I have to fix this, I can't let Robin harm him.
Just when I thought I was done with the devil called Robin, he came into my room. He saw me sitting on the floor, he squatted to my level showing a concerned face when both know he's not concerned about me.
"What's wrong Nina? Why are you crying? You're so beautiful and you should not be shedding tears like this." He said playing with my face.
I slapped his hand off, "Of course you don't care. You are rather too kind."
He nodded, "You bet I am. You've been avoiding me since we had that little misunderstanding. You're not going to let that change anything between us right?"
"Your brother was just here. He knows everything." I blurted out.
His expression changed, his eyes turned red as always.
"He knows everything? You betrayed me and told him everything?" He growled. "After I told you to keep your mouth shut, you still went ahead to tell him everything."
"What do you mean by that? He came here and demanded to know all the truth by threatening my life. He already found out from someone before coming here. I don't know how he did it, but he knows everything now." I explained glaring at him.
He sighed, "I guess I actually have no choice anymore. My brother is very stubborn, he will have to face the consequences of his stubbornness soon enough. You're not going to leave, you and I will stay here and fight him."
"Why don't you let this ambition of yours go? You don't need this. Fighting your brother for something that can never be yours. Stop now Robin, leave Kevin alone." I warned him.
He growled, "How dare you! I should give up and continue letting myself be ruled by my brother?"
Robin stood up angrily pacing up and down the room. I stared at him anticipating what he's going to do next, he might just try to strangle me like the last time.
"Now listen to me Nina, I am the reason you are still mine. Stay away from Kevin if you're not going to help. You're not helping matters. You are becoming a betrayal, you don't want me to show you my bad side." He warned me.
"Your mother was given an overdose while she's still sleeping. In as much as you want to blame me, it is impossible. She woke up, but you shut her up again because she knows everything you did. If you are not so scared of your brother, why didn't you tell him everything? Confess to him that you killed your father ." I dated him.
"You know what, it's useless trying to argue you. You are going to stay in this room and will not come out unless I order you to. ." He said seriously.
I need to stop Robin. An hour later, I heard noises outside. I checked the window and saw Kevin and Robin fighting. I was shocked by the size of Robin. I tried to go out but the door is locked. Then I saw Kevin getting defeated by Robin, he ordered to take Kevin away and chain him up. That's when I was able to use all my strength to break the door and sneak to meet Kevin.
