CHAPTER 55
"No, no, no!!!" Annabelle's voice echoed round the room. Beads of sweats played on her forehead. She breathe hard, trying to figure out where she is. Her eyes fluttered open, she discovers she is in her room.
"Your majesty! You're awake! Are you okay?" The maid watching on him asked excited.
She nodded, "I am okay. Get me Robin. Tell him I want to see him, I don't want anyone to know I am awake yet."
The maid was confused, she just woke up from a deep sleep and she's asking not to talk to anyone about this?
"But Luna, I need to tell his..."
"Do as I said or I am going to have your head." She threatens the maid though her voice is low.
"Yes Luna, I'll be right back." She rushed out of the room to get Robin.
Annabelle could not stop thinking about the nightmare she just had. She doesn't remember what happened to her, but she remembers what she saw in her sleep. It is more like a revelation. She was more worried about it than her health. She wanted to see Robin, to be sure she's just dreaming and it won't ever happen.
"It can't be. This is just a dream. My Robin would never do such a thing." She repeated to herself. She laid on the bed and closed her eyes to make sure no one sees her awake.
The maid was lucky enough to see Robin on his way upstairs. She bowed to him and whispered in his ears. Robin's eyes widened, he followed her immediately to confirm it.
"You said she was awake. Why is she still sleeping then?" Robin asked pissed at the maid. He was too impatient to notice Annabelle was sweating, which means she did wake up.
She knelt down in fear, "I am sorry Alpha Robin, she woke up and asked me to get you. Believe me, she also asked me not to tell anyone yet."
"You little..." Annabelle opened her eyes making him stop. He pushed her aside and rushed to her.
"Mother, you're awake. This is good news." Robin said with a smile, he felt so good that his mother asked to see him first before anyone.
"Yes Robin. I'm fine now, you don't have to worry." Annabelle replied.
"That's great then. Let me get the doctor..."
She stopped him, "Go outside and wait there. Make sure no one comes in, distract anyone that tries to come in."
Robin did not understand why she was giving orders for no one to come in.
"Mother, you just woke up. Shouldn't you allow me get the doctor to check on you?"
"No, I want to talk to you first Robin. Get out!" She ordered the girl who ran out of the room.
"What do you want to talk about that's so important than your health mother?" Robin asked suspicious.
Annabelle sighed, "Tell me the truth Robin, do you have anything to do with your father's death? Are you also planning to dethrone your brother and kill him too?"
Robin felt a wave of shock in his blood, how did she know all that when she just woke up from a long sleep?
"What are you talking about mother? Where did you get all that idea from mother? That's do ridiculous!" He protested.
"I asked you to tell me the truth Robin. Don't lie to me, I see fear in your eyes. Your heart is beating than usual, I want to know the truth. That's all I want to know." She pleaded with him.
Robin stood up and moved away from his mother.
"You tell me mother, did you get all of this from a dream? You have been sleeping for days mother, I think the poison is affecting your brain."
Annabelle growled at him, her eyes turned red which means she is dead serious.
"I may have been asleep but I am very much aware of everything happening around me. Like the fact that your brother's mate was accused for what she knows nothing about. I regret ever trying to poison her, she's innocent."
Robin scoffed, "It's obvious mother. You are still unwell. That's why you are saying things that you're not supposed to."
"That girl is innocent, she knows nothing about all these things. She is only a victim of bad luck, that poor girl. You are the real culprit. I know why you wanted me to chase her away badly. So you can use her for your own selfish interests." Annabelle continued.
Robin was perplexed, his mother is speaking like a sorcerer. How come she knows all of this just by dreaming?
"I won't stand here and listen to you mother. You are not feeling too well."
"It's true then, you are guilty of everything I am saying. Then my dream is real, you really mean destruction for this pack. You are threading the wrong path. How can you kill your own father?!"
Robin laughed, "He deserved to die a thousand deaths mother."
"What? You're admitting to killing him. You also had an accomplice, who is that person?" Annabelle asked, fuming in anger.
"It doesn't matter anymore. The most important thing is that my father is dead. He deserved to die that evil old man. He never loved me, he always disregarded me. He always saw Kevin as the good and important one. I was a joke to him, to the extent that he left me to die once."
Robin recalled when he had gone deep into the mountains with his father. They walked for a few days, he wasn't given anything to eat or allowed to hunt while his father ate all he likes. Then he got to a cliff, his leg slipped and he almost fell off. He held the cliff begging for help.
"If you want to be a strong wolf, you should try to get yourself out of any situation alive." His father said and walked away.
Considering the fact that he didn't have food, he found it hard to lift himself without getting weak. Robin used all his might to get the top, breaking a few bones and scathing his body. He was very weak when he got up, his father got him up to continue the journey. He finally got something to eat.
His father went on the same journey with Kevin a week later. He followed them closely to know how his father would treat Kevin and also to see how strong Kevin is. He also wished Kevin would fall off the cliff and disappear forever.
He was shocked to see Kevin getting food, and also he got to hunt. When Kevin got to the cliff, their father warned him to be careful. The man helped Kevin all through and treated him differently. When he confronted his father about it, he was told they have different methods of learning. Kevin learnt the easy way while Robin learnt the hard way. Robin hated his father since then.
His hatred for his father became worse when Kevin was announced as the successor to the Alpha King. This made him want to kill his father finally, since he's always been unfair.
~
"What are you talking about Robin? Your father treated the both of you equally but you were too blinded by hatred to see it. All you want is to take your brother's place. Your brother has always been gentle and humble, no matter how he was taught, he would take things seriously. You on the other hand was a trouble maker, you wouldn't learn the easy way so he opted for the hard way."
Robin growled, "No mother! I refuse to accept that. Why did he make Kevin the next leader after teaching me all that? Why didn't he let us fight for our place."
Annabelle shook her head, tears threatening to fall on her face. Is this her son? What has happened to him?
"You have changed a lot. I thought you won't ever turn out to be like this but I am wrong. You have become a monster, killing your own father because of your hatred for your brother. Kevin loves you so much he tolerated all your shortcomings. He would have ended you a long time ago if it wasn't for your father."
"Don't you dare talk about Kevin mother. He doesn't love me, I know he never did. You and father have always given him support all these years while you shoved me aside." He said with so much hatred towards his father and Kevin.
"How did your father die?" Annabelle asked in a calm voice.
"He was burnt alive after killing him with a poisoned silver arrow. We managed to deceive him into getting into that house. He could not escape it." He replied with pleasure.
Annabelle gasped, "Nina!"
Robin laughed at her expression, did she think Nina was a saint? They deceived the entire family well and they all fell for it.
"Nina! She was aware of this all along and she pretended to be dead. She went out with my husband that day, and never came back. She has been working for you all this while. She betrayed kevin and you had her return planned up." Annabelle fumed.
"Now you know the truth mother. I'll tell you the rest of the story. We killed the maid who left with father secretly that day and put her in place of Nina. Nina has been my lover before we faked her death, I am still fucking her. I also plan to get the Omega witch and make her mine. Also guess what? I'm going to use the same arrow used in killing father to kill Kevin." He confessed.
"You are not my son. You are a monster. You don't deserve to live, you deserve to die. I won't let you do anything again. I'm going down with you, I'll warn Kevin and everyone about you. You are a betrayal."
Robin paced around the room while his mother ranted. His eyes caught the syringe the doctor prescribed to be given to Annabelle. He picked it up, he looked back at her. She was trying to get out of bed. He took the syringe and stabbed her with it.
"Robin... You're evil. You're not going to make it. I promise you... That." She fell on the ground. Robin sighed in relief. He took the remaining dose and poured it in her mouth. He carried her back to the bed.
"You need to sleep some more mother. You have said too much, you should rest now. I love you mother." He covered her with the blanket and cleaned the sweat on her face.
He opened the door and pulled the maid in.
"Mother has fallen asleep again. You should watch her just in case she wakes up again, let me know. You should also keep this a secret. Don't tell anyone about this, or I'll make sure you never say anything else again." He threatened her.
She bowed, "Yes Alpha Robin. I pledge my loyalty to you."
He smirked, "Good girl."
He took one last look at his mother before leaving the room. He may have put his mother in danger but it was the right thing, he won't let her ruin his plans.
