CHAPTER 37

KEVIN
I am going crazy. I never expected this and it's driving me nuts. How the hell did Nina come back from the dead after a long time of thinking she died? I mean, I heard the house was locked and surrounded with wolfsbane. They even pierced the whole place with silver and the doors was made with something they couldn't escape.
There was also an explosion. And my father had time to save Nina alone without that innocent maid? Why would my father do that? He could have saved the two women if he did get the opportunity to save Nina.
Why do I feel like something is not adding up? Why can't I trust Nina? She loves me right, and she won't tell a lie so serious.
"What are you thinking about?" Sia asked sitting beside me.
I put my arm around her neck and pecked her cheeks. She blushed visibly.
"I'm thinking about you. You have managed to get in my head so much that I can't get you out." I told her. It is not a lie, she is always in my thoughts.
She smiled, "I know you care about me. But don't hide how you feel. We are in this together. You're thinking about Nina right?"
I sighed, she is so smart.
"I still can't place what is happening today. How come she escaped a place built to kill even the strongest Alphas?"
"She said your father saved her. She can't possibly lie about that."
"Still, we got to found out how they got trapped there. There was no escape and I never knew someone followed them that day. My father could have saved the both of them, why didn't he?"
She rubbed my back, "You have way too many things to think about. You shouldn't bother yourself about all these for now. You can carry out an investigation later on if you want."
She's right. Yet I can't get the issue out of my mind. This is someone who we thought was dead for a long time now. If there was a maid with them that day, why haven't we seen her family here? No one has come to ask of her or does she not have a family?
"I will try to take my mind off things for now. I have to leave now, I have another appointment with someone today. I'll be right back, don't go anywhere for now." I instructed her.
She nodded in agreement, "I won't. I'll be waiting for you." We kissed.

I walked through the passageways after leaving my chambers. I passed through the room where Nina is staying, I wanted to go but I stopped myself.
"Why don't you go and check on your girlfriend? Are you suddenly scared of her now?" Robin asked me.
I frowned, "May I know what business of yours is it to be here?"
He shrugged, "To say hi to sister in-law. I heard the dead was resurrected and I wanted to see for myself. It's not everyday you get miracles like this."
"I don't want to see you anywhere near her." I growled.
He arched a brow, "Huh? What's this? I can't say a friendly hi to Nina anymore? Besides, don't you have a new Luna now? Are you going to marry them both?"
"Even if I am no longer with her, I won't let her stay around toxic people like you. This is a fair warning." I warned him.
"You know, I don't understand what you want brother. You can't have her anymore, and I am not interested in her. But you can't tell me what to do or not to do." He seethed.
"Try me then." I walked away leaving him there. I can feel his anger, I don't care. There is nothing he can do to stop me from doing what I want.
•••••
I got to the the meeting place an hour later. I got an invitation from an unknown person, to come alone. At this point, I need all the information I can gather.
So I left alone without informing anyone. I should face my problems on my own sometimes without needing the help of others.
I got to the appointed place. It is not a shady place, rather its a big exclusive hotel. I was met by one of the workers and led to the meeting place. To my surprise, I saw someone I wasn't supposed to see there.
Alpha Logan.
Everything is adding up now. He is the one who invited me saying he has something important to say to me? What's the important information he could possibly have to help situations.
"Welcome Alpha Kevin. I've been waiting to see you." He smirked.
I frowned and found myself a seat, "To what do I owe the owner of your unpleasant invitation. What do you want from me now?" I asked harshly.
He shrugged, "I am not gay. What would you think I want from you?"
"You said you had important information for me, what is it?" I sneered.
He gestured for someone to come over. He poured us some red wine and stared at me intently.
"What would you like to eat?"
"I am very sure you did not invite someone like me here to feed me with food. I am.not hungry, go straight to the point or I'm leaving!" I growled.
What's his problem? I left the comfort of my home and duty to be trampled upon by this man. This is why he and my father never got along. He is always making things difficult to understand.
"You have quite a temper for someone so young."
"You're quite stupid for someone so old. My wolf is impatient, what can I say?" I mocked him.
His face turned serious.
"We have a common enemy. I would like us to work hand in hand in bringing our enemies down."
I scoffed. Is this man for real? What does he think I am? A stupid young man he can fool around with? We are supposed to go to war against each other. Now I'm sitting here with him and he's saying things that I don't even understand.
"I'm sorry, what??" I pretended not to hear him, in order to have him repeat himself. Perhaps this could be a dream and I will wake up from it soon.
"Let's set our differences aside and find out the culprit involved in cutting off our supplies, and also the sudden disappearance of people." He added.
I clapped for him. He should get an Oscar in acting because his acting skills are very good.
"What makes you think, I'll be stupid enough to fall into your trap old man?" I asked with no emotions.
How stupid did he think I will remain?
"This is not a trap. You know I am not someone who would call for peace at anytime, but this is a different situation. You can choose to believe me or not, I am sincerely asking you today."
I folded my arms. He looks sincere though, but not desperate. If he needs my help this badly, why does he still look calm. Nothing he says is moving me at all.
"The last time you came to me, we agreed to go to war because of your accusations. Have you suddenly forgotten that? It's not been long, what makes you think I am not the one responsible for what is happening again?"
"I swallowed my pride to come here and ask for collaboration. Yes, I did threaten for war. However, after much thoughts, I realized that you won't do something so low. Your pack is also getting attacked, I know you are not responsible. You may be angry but not to the extent of destroying your own pack as a leader."
He does have a point. Still, I find it hard to accept or trust him.
"What do you propose we do then? You suddenly coming to me with this idea was unexpected. What do you think we're supposed to do?"
He sipped his wine for a while before speaking.
"We get revenge on them. We beat them to their own game. The only way we can achieve this is deception."
I raised a brow, "Deception?" What is this man talking about? One minute he's asking us to trust each other and now he's talking about deception?
Come closer. I hesitated for a while, seeing that he is serious I moved over to him. He whispered his plans in my ears. I understand everything he said, but can I still trust him? What if this is a trap?
"How am I sure I can trust my rival?" I asked him intently.
He sneered, "Our packs have been rivals for a long time. Not you and I."
I chuckled, "You seem not to understand what I am talking about do you?"
"Make me understand."
"I will only ask you once hoping you will give an honest answer. For the sake of this cooperation you seek, what is the relationship between you and my mate Sia?"
His face went pale when I said that. It's as I suspected, he has a hidden agenda.
