CHAPTER 21

KEVIN
I won't deny that I've been acting crazy and out of my way for days. I have been doing things I am not supposed to do because I can't stop my attraction for her. She's my mate, and there's no way we won't bond. I can't stop trying to protect her after knowing her vunerability.
Last night is one of the best nights since a long while. I have always thought Nina would be the only woman to satisfy me even if she's not my mate but I am wrong. My mate is nothing compared to what I get from Nina. I still love Nina but my heart is being occupied by someone else.
Ironically I have been trying to forget her but I could not do it. Now I'm finding easy to give my heart to someone. Is this how the mate bonding is? I'm still inexperienced about this kind of things and I do have a lot to learn. I'll make her my girlfriend officially today, there's no need to rush her. She is a young girl and is still very inexperienced about this kind of things.
It would be awkward to ask her to become my wife in such a short period of time. Still she's going to be my luna anyway, even if the world is against it. I won't go against my nature and ignore my mate. I see a potential in her, she's not as weak as she seems.
I sat down at the desk and watched her pick her call. Her mind is occupied with a lot of things, especially what Amanda did to her this morning. I noticed it but I acted like I did not see her do it.
"Father?" I could hear her heartbeat rise.
She's in panic, I can feel it. I didn't want to eavesdrop but the way she became tensed made me use my abilities to listen to her conversation. Why is she afraid of her father? What could have went wrong between them?
"Father, how did you get my number?" She asked after dealing with her panic.
The other man laughed, a sinister laughter to be precise. Is he mocking her?
"You're still so stupid and dumb aren't you? What do you think you are? Invisible?"
"What do you want father?"
"I want you back in the house in two hours or I'm going to make sure Carmen and her kids suffer for your action." He threatened.
Who's Carmen? And why is her own father threatening her with someone? This is so strange. Here I was thinking my family's worse.
"Father! How long will you continue to do this? What have we done wrong? She's your sister father, why do you want to hurt her?"
"Shut up you little rat! Since you have the power to give yourself as a fling to that Alpha Kevin, you leave me with no choice. I won't let you tarnish my reputation. You have two hours to decide if they live or die." He continued to threaten her.
"Don't do this father please." She pleaded.
"I have nothing else to say to you. Excuse me." He hung up.
She said nothing as she just stood there. She was backing me but I could feel her emotions. I need an explanation to what's happening, this all seems to be so confusing and indecent.
"What is wrong?" I asked.
She turned around with a fake smile, "It's nothing important. I just need to quickly go and attend to some things back home. I don't know if you'd give me the permission to go since this is still work hours."
I stood up and walked close to her. My face hard and serious, why is she trying to hide her problem from me? It's obvious she's scared and this is not something she can handle alone.
"You can't leave. You have to stay here and work since you don't want to tell me what's wrong. I am very sure you don't want to disobey me." I said in my worst scary tone.
She sighed and looked away, "It's a long story. I really have to go. I don't have a choice, even if it would cost me my job and... You."
"You think I'm going to let you go that easily without getting a reasonable explanation from you? You think I'll let you leave just like that? How easy do you think I am?" I snapped at her, upset.
She finally let go of the burden and let her tears fall.
"It's so hard. My family hated me since I shifted to an Omega wolf. My dad hated me the most. He thinks I'm a disgrace to his name since he's the pack leader's right hand and he holds a very high position in the society. I had to leave when everything became unbearable." She narrated in tears.
"I moved in with my aunt Carmen, she's my father's little sister and a widow. She has two kids she's taking care of. My father cut off her supplies, she lost her job and many other things because she took me in. But she never sent me away, she loves me like her own. She's the reason I came to work here, I wanted to help her since she's in this because of me. Now my father has kidnapped her threatening me to come home or he'll hurt her."
Even though I'm not a low rank wolf, everything she said is relatable. I know how people like her are treated in the society. That's just how the world is. They struggle to live, survive, people hate them. Even some of their loved ones neglect them because they feel they are useless. I used to think like that too, I hated her the first time I saw her. But everything changed with time when I got to know her.
"Wipe your tears. I'll come with you. I know your father is doing this because you're with me. I won't let anyone hurt you or your aunt. You have nothing to worry about." I assured her.
She wiped her tears, "I can do this. I don't want to put you in any more trouble or ruin your reputation. I'll try and convince my father that whatever he thinks I'm doing is not true."
I frowned, "Actually, you're not in any position to argue with me. I am coming with you and that's final. Cancel all the meetings we have today, Amanda will reschedule while we take care of the problem today."
"Thank you so much."
I shook my head, "There's nothing to thank me for. Go and inform Amanda about the new development. Then meet me down, in the car."
She bobbed her head in agreement, then walked out of the office. I closed my computer and walked out a while later. I went down and waited for her on the car while I passed a call to some of my men. She joined me a while later, looking quite nervous.
"Take a chill pill. The world is not going to end yet, you have nothing major to worry about." I said trying to calm her down.
She smiled, "Thank you for your support. You don't know what it means to me."
"You don't need to thank me luna. You're my responsibility now."
She gave Seth the direction to her home. It took us close to an hour but we got to their town. This place is filled with mostly people from the Blue Moon pack. There are also some normal people, but the majority is ruled by the wolves. We drove through the town to their house, fair enough she comes from a rich family. The car pulled to a stop, she took a deep breath.
"It's been long I came here. I never thought I'd be coming here anytime soon. I guess fate always has surprises in store for me." She sighed.
"I'll come in with you if you can't face them." I offered.
I wanted to see her father and know who he is. I want to know why he's so cruel to his own family all in the name of protecting his reputation.
"There is no need for that. You told me to be brave and that's what I'm going to do. I have to face my family myself, I can deal with this. Please just wait for me." She tried to convince me, though I can feel her heartbeat.
I know she's not fine and she is trying to act strong. I have my own plans. I'll let her go, that way I'll be able to carry out my plan.
"Don't take too long or I'll come there and drag you out. And I mean it."
She smiled again, "I won't sir."
She got down from the car and walked into the house. I watched her walk in, their gate is transparent so I see everything going on. I picked up my phone and called my men.
"Get ready guys. I'll give you the signal in a few minutes."
I waited in the car for a few minutes, I tried connecting with her and knowing what's going on. My heart suddenly began to beat fast and I knew something was wrong. I gave them the signal and came out of the car, we burst into the compound and surrounded the whole place. We entered the house, what I saw unleashed the beast in me.
She was in the centre of the room, being held by two people while the jerk I guess is the father whipped her. Her body bleeding and her clothes torn, he has a lot of torture materials with him. A woman and two kids were tied on one side, another woman was standing opposite watching them. She looks like Sia so I guess she's her mother, while the tied woman would be her aunt.
"LET HER GO." I growled.
Everyone turned to look at me with shock written on their faces.
