CHAPTER 29

KEVIN
I won't get my mind off what happened. I know this is a plot by someone to make me look guilty of what happened. That person is trying to start a war and make me responsible for everything. I do have a lot of thoughts on my mind, I don't trust the victim either.
Since I know what kind of evil man he is, he might have something to do with this. He is deliberately trying to make me look guilty and that's unacceptable. I will get to the bottom of this issue, I won't spare whoever is responsible for this. I looked at Sia who is working on the office files, she is worth going through all this for.
She just has a lucky charm that no other woman has. I will do my best to protect her at all costs. No one will harm my mate anymore when I am alive. The door opened and Amanda walked in.
She glanced at Sia who didn't notice her and frowned, she walked straight to my table.
"There's someone here to see you Sir." She announced.
That's when Sia looked up, the sarcasm on Amanda's voice was visible. I don't know why she refuses to listen to me.
"And who is that supposed to be?" I asked.
"A very important man. An august visitor, your best enemy friend." A voice said at the door.
I recognize that voice. Even though we don't talk much, we happen to meet at pack meetings. Alpha Logan. He came in with a smile on his face, Sia had a very shocked look on her face. She stared at him as he walked towards my table while I didn't move or fret.
"You can go Amanda. I'll take it from here." I told Amanda, she rolled her eyes and walked out.
We are going to talk about her disrespect later. For now, I'll deal with the issue before me. Alpha Logan would never leave the comfort of his kingdom to come see me in my office. Unless it is something very important, which I know the reason why he's here.
"What can I offer you?" I asked sarcastically.
"Oh! Thanks for offering me a seat." He sat down even though I didn't ask him to. "I'd like red wine please." He faced Sia when he said that.
Sia did not say anything but what went to get the wine from my bar. She poured into a glass and served him. He smiled at her while collecting it, she moved away uncomfortably. I noticed he won't stop looking at her, way too much.
I cleared my throat, "Ahem... What do I owe this surprising visit?"
He took a sip of the wine and dropped the glass on the table. He looked from me to Sia, staring intently at her again. That is beginning to get annoying, he can't keep looking at her like that. I am the only one allowed to do that. Besides he is making her uncomfortable with his stares.
"I take it, you know why I am here. But you want me to say it, don't you?." He asked sarcastically.
I shook my head, "I don't live in your head. This is not your usual spot so I wouldn't know why you are here. I'd like to know why you're here as I have a lot of things to attend to."
He smirked, "Of course. A very busy king who is more interested in business than matters of his kingdom. I understand you quite well.'
"You still haven't said why you're here, Logan." I called him by his name to make him understand that he is already pissing me off.
"Well... I'd like to know why you're attacking my subjects." He finally said.
I scoffed, "What makes you think I have to answer to you? If you need someone to answer, why not ask your subject like you call him Logan?"
"I believe there's a reasonable explanation for all this. That's why I came all the way here to ask you that. I know you have something to tell me, or am I wrong?"
This man is really getting on my nerves. I owe no one an explanation for something I did not do. I will not answer to him or anyone, he can do whatever he has in mind. I don't care, I am always prepared for my enemies.
"I have nothing to say to you. If that's all you came for, I suggest you start going because I am a very busy guy." I said coldly.
He took another sip of the wine, and looked at Sia again.
"You are not allowed to look at her like that. I think you came here to talk to me not look at her." I snapped at him.
He cleared his throat, "Hmm... I don't have a problem with that. You know she is part of my subjects right? And for peace to reign, give her back to her family. This way, everyone will be happy and there will be no need to go to war."
I growled, the beast in me already getting angry.
"I don't care what you think or what you want to do. She is mine. You will need to kill me if you ever want to lay your hands on her. That's to tell you that I will never let you near her, so don't even think about it." I threatened him.
He looks a bit taken aback, and also a bit angry. I know he is trying to control his anger. He won't want to mess up in my territory.
"How can you even call her your subject when you never saw her as one. You all treated her like she wasn't worth it and she is useless. You threw her out, and you call her a subject?"
"I think that's a question only her father can give an answer to. As to whether you're involved in the incident or not, you have challenged me. I'll take up your challenge." He stood up.
"You should be careful. Your enemies are closer than you think." He faced Sia, "I hope you don't forget that you're always a part of us. Like it or not, you will come back home."
With that he walked out of my office. I was able to control my anger which is very surprising. I didn't think I would be able to do that considering the fact that we are not in good terms. I know the presence of Sia is what held me back, yet she doesn't seem comfortable herself.
"He's gone. There's no need for you to fear." I told her.
She nodded, "I... I'll just go back to work."
I felt that she's still troubled. So I got up from my chair and headed to where she is. I pulled her up and hugged her while stroking her hair. She's my mate. I should be able to comfort her.
"As long as I am alive, no one will hurt you. You have nothing to worry about. I want you to be strong." I assured her.
She looked up, straight into my eyes. Her eyes showed all the emotions she's trying to control.
"What if it all goes wrong?"
"I'll take you with me. I won't leave you all alone for anyone to harm you. You're mine forever." I replied.
She smiled, "You always manage to make me smile no matter how sad I am. Thank you for accepting me and standing up for me even though I don't deserve it."
My heart beat fast against my chest when I hugged her. It is true that I not only have the mating bond, but I feel something I never thought I'd feel for her. Love.
