CHAPTER 103: JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL

Even before I aired a live telecast, I’ve already hired groups of people to be stationed at home and at the office where I have situated a specific area to take and assist callers as the worldwide search progresses. As expected and foreseen, tons of calls came in less than an hour from the time I was last seen on national tv, but most of them were obviously prank ones.

It had been more than three days from the time I grounded a ransom on Nicole’s head, but so far, none of the inbound calls were fruitful. Calls could easily be detected if it was legit or not, because I managed to also employ and recruit computer hackers, who know the system technicalities and could access inside the web loops in minutes. They are my trump card and my aces, which I paid higher for their specialized service.

But aside from this recent action that I had adhered to, the police continued their manhunt operation to speed up the search. They were unto the case 24/7 and were as eager as I was to nail the culprit.

I am currently at the mansion, precisely inside my father’s study room, which had become my temporary office since the ransom started. I was reading a report that was sent to me by my personal secretary when I heard someone knock on the door.

“Come in” I uttered without removing my sight from the folder I was holding.

“Miss Hunt, there’s this caller from Maldives whom one of our hackers tracked and was now put on hold on the line” One of my phone agents swiftly stated.

“How legit was it?” I asked casually with thoughts that it was just another prank caller on a power trip.

“8 out of 10, Miss. The hacker requested for your presence downstairs, so you can personally hear the man’s words, as we think this call was by far more believable than the others.”

At what I heard, I immediately placed the folder down on the desk and swiftly stood up. “Lead the way” He did what he was told and promptly led me down to the basement. The path was cleared down for me the minute I stepped inside. “There, Miss Hunt,” He pointed at one hacker, who was seated at the right side and I walked towards him with a fleet.

“What do you got?” I inquired immediately as I stared at his computer screen.

“The caller was a certain Dylan Frazer, 30 and was currently at Patina Maldives Fari Islands. I’ve already tracked his background. Originated in Manila, Philippines and was a tourist in Maldives for a month-long vacation.”

“How legit was his call?”

“He was calling from his cellphone, Miss Hunt, a direct call. He wouldn’t be spending a lot of money just to prank a call, I believe.”

Realizing the weight of his speculations, my adrenaline rushed as I gazed back at the person who fetched me. “Put the call on the speaker and squeeze all the information he possessed” I hastily ordered and followed him to his seat.

“Thank you for waiting, Mr. Dylan. Can you please detail to me again what you have told me earlier before I put you on hold? For recording purposes, Sir.”

A very manly and baritone voice immediately spoke at the other line. I listened to him as he commenced talking. “I knew the woman who Miss Penelope Hunt was in search of. I met her in a bar and we had sex several times. I didn’t know her exact full name that time, as she introduced herself to me as only Nicole. But right after I saw her photo during the live telecast, that’s the only time I realized who she really was.”

“What appeared on national television was merely the face of this woman, can you kindly describe her to me to validify your claims?”

“She stood about 5’ 2 or 5' 3 inches tall, white complexion with voluptuous features. She doesn’t merely look like someone from a rich family, but she does spend a lot. She…”

The first line this caller mentioned quickly caught my attention and filled me with great anticipation. Nicole’s height and body features weren’t stated at her basic information that was flashed on screen during the live telecast, and hearing this crucial information from someone who I didn’t know was something I should highly consider. This only shows and means that this man knew whom he was pertaining to. If he was just guessing Nicole’s appearance, then he was a pretty good wild guesser. He must have seen her close hand for him to describe her with such precision.

I bent forward and whispered something in my agent's ear. “Get his precise and exact location and also Nicole’s. Have his other contact number as well, then tell him that we call him in less than an hour, so keep his line open. Assure him of our call, he’s the one we’re looking for.”

With that, I ran towards the door and made my way back to the study room to make an urgent call at the police station. Once I talked to the chief of police, who informed me that he and his men would be on their way here, I called Lewis at the hospital he was working at and asked him to come home immediately.

A feeling of gradual ease and gratitude enveloped my whole being as I waited for the police to arrive. As I leaned back at my father’s leather seat and gazed at his framed photograph, my eyes were beaming with utmost exuberance as they shed relieved and joyful crystals. Finally after a long wait, I have a feeling that our prayers have been heard by the heavens.

“We finally have her, Dad. I have a strong intuition that that man, Dylan Frazer, was our key in finally capturing Nicole. It would be just a matter of time until I could grant you the divine peace you truly deserve. I will personally be with the authorities when they arrest her. I want to see her face to face the minute they finally handcuff your killer, Dad. Justice will prevail and I will make sure she can't escape, not this time around.”
