CHAPTER 63: BABY

After weeks of uncertainty and living in wishful thinking, finally there had been clarity and security inside my system, which gave me a sense of relief and ethereal ease. After days and days of pleading and persuasion, the ripe time has occasionally arrived.


Words couldn’t express what I am feeling now while holding the hand of the woman I dearly cherished and loved. The feeling of lightness inside my chest, as if a heavy weight was abruptly uplifted from it, was beyond incomparable. It definitely gave me the drive to begin a new chapter of my life with her, as I looked forward to challenges and opportunities ahead of us.


I felt like I was walking in mid air. An over the moon experience that I had never felt from such a long time. As I gazed at her under the moonlight while in jubilant silence, my heart was soaring in cloud nine. I am in a state of extreme happiness and overly elated that even my soul was flying.


At long last, I now finally won the heart of the woman I desired to be with and share my life with. I couldn’t take my eyes off her alluring face, like they were glued to her as I couldn’t get enough of her glorious beauty and divineness. She was beaming with content and unfathomable joy, it was evident in her eyes and obviously emanating at the expression of her face.


I buried my heart years ago, after what occurred between Antonette and I. There were a lot who tried to dig it through, one of them was Nicole, but none of them had been successful and none of them enlivened my barrened and withering heart. Until Penelope came along. From the time I saw a picture of her, I knew there was something about her. She instantly put the pulse back in my sleeping cardiac organ. The confirmation of it manifested the minute I personally beheld her beauty, which not only regained my heart’s circulation, but fortified it to function favorably and in such a great condition.


Now that she has ultimately accepted me and my love, I will not permit any destructive force to come against us. I am fully aware of her complicated past and even my own, but none of those would hinder me from my ultimate goal, which is to behold her walking down the aisle in white someday. She’s the only one who I see fit to be my wife. She was everything I dreamed of in a woman. Her simplicity, her physical attributes, her braveness and determination, not to mention her positivity were the qualities I was in search of for my better half. And soon enough, it shall come to pass.


“It’s way past your bedtime, Baby, I think you should be heading off to your room” I softly whispered after kissing her hair lightly. We were seated at the pergola, still fully dressed from the event we attended earlier.


“Can’t I stay a bit longer with you?”


Hearing her say those sweet words makes my heart flutter even more as my lips curve wider with delight. Nothing in this world I ever wanted more than to stay like this in her embrace as much as possible, but I am certain that she exhausted herself from tonight’s social gathering. So as much as I also desired to spend more time with her, she needed to rest.


“I loved that as well, Baby, but I certainly knew that you were tired and you needed to rest.”


“Alright, if you say so” She exclaimed lazily after heavily sighing. Swiftly, she unwrapped her arms from me and stood. My body immediately felt the coldness of the night the minute it was detached from hers, which made me hastily stand and snatch her slender waist, pulling her closer to me as my lips immediately found hers.


“I can’t get enough of these tempting lips” I pantingly whispered after slightly letting them go. “Better get inside now, Baby, or I may not control myself and do something that I had in mind.”


She stared at me fervently with eyes shimmering like priceless crystals while she giggled. “Really now, Mr. White,” My eyes settled at her moist lips as she slowly bit the lower part.


“God, Penelope, don’t provoke me. You don’t know how much I am struggling now to behave like a gentleman.”


“Alright then, Mr. Gentleman, I’ll go now if you insist” She slightly pushed me away before commencing to walk.


There was amusement and playfulness laced in her words, which made me clenched my knuckles as I castigated my body not to follow her. I am on the verge of losing my control as I watched her strode away. The way her hips sway sexily made it even harder for me to resist the temptation knocking at my doorstep.



‘Control the urge, Lewis! Stop drooling at her, will you?’


I could feel a part of my lower body, right in the middle of my thighs, growing gradually as visions of her laying on my bed, waiting for me to pleasure her, filled my mind. I had to take several deep and laborious breaths to subdue my raging hormones, but as seconds passed, the intensity of desire that was adamantly crawling inside of me was too unbearable to castigate. I willed my mind not to give in to what my body aches to conceive tonight.


I heard her voice shriek from the inside, which hastily made me run. I saw her gripping the end railing of the stairs as her body was exasperatedly leaning on it. Her face was contoured with an unpleasant expression, somewhat in the middle of ache and suffering. She was standing on one foot as her free hand was holding her right ankle.


“Penelope! What happened?”


Cutting our distance in milliseconds, I abruptly inspected her right ankle after helping her sit at the foot of the stairs. Just by merely looking at her slightly reddened ankle and how its tiny veins angrily bulge, I could instantly foretell what had occurred to her.


“I stepped wrongly” She complained, grappling in pain as I gently caressed the part that was now gradually swollen.


Without further thinking, my arms gently cradle her and start to head upstairs. The look on her face was enough for me to conclude that she was suffering painfully due to her sprained ankle. I had to administer first aid to her to prevent it from worsening.


I took her to her room and gently laid her on her bed. She winced the minute her right foot touched the mattress. “Don’t move, Baby, I’ll be back.”


Without further ado, I ran towards the door and swiftly headed to mine. I owned a complete set of medical paraphernalias inside my room, since I am a doctor and I have a patient inside this household. My hand swiftly grabbed my first aid kit and in a flash sprinted out. Penelope’s eyes were shut closed when I reentered her room, but she was far from sleeping as her face shows evidence of struggling with pain. Gently, I held her sore foot and lightly administered it with soothing oil.


“Argh! It hurts, Lewis!” She shouted in agony as her body began to tremble involuntarily.


“I need to wrap it with a bandage, Penelope, so the heat will penetrate your sore muscles. The pain will gradually subside after a few days. Good thing it wasn’t severe. You have to rest this for a couple of days, so as not to worsen its condition.”


“Such a wrong timing. I have a very important meeting tomorrow and the day after that.”


“Then you just have to cancel it, as per doctor’s order. There you go. Don’t move it too often if it's not necessary. I’ll just go get a glass of water so you could drink a pain reliever. I’ll be right back” I lightly placed her damaged foot on a pillow before heading out again. When I returned, her eyes were closed and she was breathing steadily. “Baby? You need to drink first, because the pain will somewhat intensify later on.”


She did what she was told with my help. Afterwards, I aided her back to her lying position before sitting right next to her. “Thank you so much for taking care of me, Lewis.”


“That’s nothing. It’s my duty to take good care of you, because you are my girlfriend now.”


“Thank you still. I feel kinda sleepy now.”


“Will you not change first?”


“Nah, I could sleep like this anyway.”


“Alright,” I leaned forward and gave her a chaste kiss on her forehead. I was about to stand up when she gently lay a hand on my arm.


“Could you stay with me please? Even just right after I fell asleep?” Her sweet plea made me smile widely.


“If my baby wishes me to stay then who am I to disagree?” She simply smiled back in her sleepy eyes as I gently climbed up her bed. As light as a feather, my hand delicately lifted her head and let it lie on my arm. I cuddle her affectionately while my fingers caress strands of her hair.


“I love you, Lewis. My heart tells me I do, even if my mind disagrees. Will you promise to take good care of my heart as well?”


I held her even tighter, letting her feel through my actions how much I treasure her. “You don’t need to ask me that, Baby, because I will do it wholeheartedly. You are my everything now. I will make sure that you won’t regret giving me a chance of letting me inside your heart.”


“Hmm.”


“Rest now, I’ll be just beside you. I love you, Penelope Hunt. I will cherish you for a lifetime, Baby.”
