The Desire

Isabelle

It turned out that dinner was the time when I got the glimpse of Layla again, had for somewhat reason she asked the maid for her lunch to be taken to the room she was staying in. Currently, I was struggling with the steak that was on my plate, it had been long since I had eaten something like this....so long that I had even forgotten to use the knife and fork.

For years, there was no need for using a fork or a knife, since the only thing I was served with was a weird sort of bread and plain water, sometimes the bread was so dry that I could hardly swallow it.

Moreover, the guards used to keep all of the things away from me that could be used as a weapon, it was an unnecessary step for me because I never had the intention to hurt someone in order to escape the palace. I didn't want any family to grieve for the loss of their loved ones.

My lips formed a pout, cutting the steak seemed harder than I thought it would be because I couldn't even hold the knife properly.

Apparently, Layla seemed to notice my struggle before Kaden's attention could be drawn upon me--He was talking with Jason, probably regarding the security. I had seen many guards patrolling, the number was more than before.

"You don't know how to use a knife?"

I didn't know why there was more mockery than surprise in her voice. I didn't prefer to dislike anyone but someone about her was constantly making me start to dislike her, was it my fault?

I saw Kaden's gaze instantly shifting at me, not doing what to say I shook my head. I saw Layla's eyebrows raised as though she couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Oh," this left her mouth, "It's no big deal, do you want me to teach you?" Her sudden smile caught me off guard. There was an extra sweetness in her voice that didn't suit her previous behavior.

Before I could say anything Kaden responded on my behalf.

"Thanks, Layla but I'll take care of her," he sent a small smile in her direction to express his appreciation and pulled my seat closed just like he did in the morning.

"I'll feed you, is that okay?" He asked softly, the way his tone would turn gentle every time he talked to me never failed to give me that giddy feeling all over. I didn't know why he affected me this much nor did I mind that he got this effect on me.

I nodded, holding onto the smile that fought to unfold on my lips.

My eyes glanced at Layla, the smile was not there anymore on her face but there was no sign of resentment too but the reason behind why her hand had tightened around the fork remained unknown.

Kaden cut a piece from the steak and I obliged by opening my mouth, one by one he began feeding me the entire steak.

Minutes passed as everyone got busy taking their dinner.

"You are not going to eat?" I asked him.

"After you," He responded and raised another piece to my mouth.

I shook my head and his brows scrunched in confusion, he was about to say something when I grabbed his hand and guided the fork to his mouth.

"You can eat and feed me at the same time," I spoke.

I saw the flicker in his eyes at my sentence before the smile spread on his lips, "Okay," He nodded and eat the piece of steak he had cut for me, "We'll eat together," He lightly tapped on my nose.

From the corner of my eyes, I could see the expression of Layla that seemed like she was having difficulty controlling something...maybe anger?

No, I must be overthinking. Why would she be angry? She was not that bad, was she?

"Isabelle, what's that mark on your neck?" Cassandra asked all of a sudden, her eyes moved to take a quick glance at Layla as she asked the question.

"Oh this one," My mouth formed an 'O' in recognition," Kaden made them, there are more of it." I could remember her watching these marks in the morning, did she forget?

"This the lightest one," I kept going, "The one on my chest is darker and another one...." The rest of my words remained on the tip of my tongue as Jason choked on the water and I saw him coughing violently, Carter's eyes were wide and there was a hesitant look on his face.

My brows scrunched ever so lightly in confusion, did I say something wrong?

But among all these people I didn't know why my attention went to the cat-eyed female whose eyes seemed to darken, the same specks of the anger similar to the one I had seen in them in the morning made them visible. Cassandra's lips curved into a smirk as she glanced at them too.

Layla was quick to cover the anger with a plain sheet of blank before Kaden could notice it. He cleared his throat, "Angel, finish your dinner. You don't need to....explain it that much."

"But I haven't told her all of it yet," I spoke and glanced at Cassandra, the confusion inside of me became more prominent, Why was she trying to hide her laughter behind her hand?

"Sweetheart, finish your dinner first. You can tell her another day," He breathed out.

"Yes, Isabelle. You can tell me later, plus till then I am sure that you'll have more stories to tell," She chuckled, after the completion of her sentence I noticed the tightening of Layla's jaw. I didn't know why my eyes constantly drifted in her direction though they already knew there would be something suspicious to see.

"Okay," I finally nodded, and a small sigh of relief escaped Kaden's mouth.

The rest of the dinner went in silence although the feeling of a pair of eyes burning holes in my head didn't go unnoticed.

I shifted to my right, turning around for the third time till now. Without his arms around me, it was even hard to sleep let alone feel content. I opened my eyes and the small huff slipped past my lips.

Kaden was working on something, he told me it was named a laptop. The device seemed interesting but not as much as the owner who was working on it.

"Can't sleep?" He chuckled glancing at me and turned on the bedside lamp beside him that was the only source of light.

"When will you be done?" I sat up, the short nightdress hunched up to my thighs as I pushed my hair to the side.

His eyes instantly moved to glance at my exposed thighs and lingered there for a while them slowly it moved to my face, till then they were dark...darker than the night.

"I think, I am done," He spoke, his voice hoarse. He put his laptop on the nightstand, and his fingers moved to switch off the lamp. Something about his slow movements made my breathing heavier and my heart beat faster.

Instead of laying down, he softly pushed me down on the bed. I kept watching him, the thump of my own heart increasing as his dark eyes bore into mine. The fingers of his both hands interlocked with my hands that were resting on my sides.

He then pinned my hands over my head, the position was utterly new to me. I felt vulnerable but this only seemed to increase the heat that'd carved within my skin.

He leaned closer, his soft lips brushing against mine, "Do you know how tempting you are?"

My breathing got caught in my throat at the closeness, it was strange how his words were affecting me even know I understood the meaning beneath those words only the bare minimum.

Not knowing what to do, I slowly shook my head.

The smirk tugged at his lips at my response. Without saying anything else, he dipped his head lower into my neck, his hot breath caressed my skin. The shiver that ran down my body had nothing to do with the old winds that were sprinting inside the room from the open window.

"You smell heavenly," And then his lips were on my neck, slow and sensual..his lips moved in different patterns instantly leaving me breathless.

I wanted to hold him to keep myself steady but my hands were caged in his hold, but again my body seemed to enjoy this sweet torment and the first sound left my mouth.

He kissed down my neck, moving to my cleavage. He let my hands free in the progress and instead of grabbing his biceps like every other time this time they moved their fingers into his hair lock as his mouth moved lower taking the advantage of the V-neck of my dress.

"Isabelle....you drive me crazy," He groaned and finally moved his mouth to press lips on my mine.

There was an intensity in his movements, his kiss was fast and fierce as if nothing else in the world mattered to him except for me.

His hand kept my hips steady and the other hand grabbed my jaw for access to my mouth that he was exploring every bit with his tongue. His tongue massaged my tongue leaving me to grip his arms so tight that my nails could be dug at his skin that moment.

His lips lightly grind against mine, the heat between my thighs increased. Almost as if my body wanted some sort of release that I was unaware of.

Kaden's hand left my jaw and slowly moved to my breast, his hand cupped the soft flesh in his hand leaving the foreign sensation to make me gasp in his mouth. He had never done that before, it was so.....different.

This seemed to get his attention and he quickly pulled away. The worried look laced his expression.

"Did I hurt you?"He asked, the guilt heaving his voice.

"No, that's not what I meant..." I hurriedly spoke, "I was just.....surprised."

"Are you sure?" He didn't seem to believe me, there was hesitation swirling in his eyes.

Not knowing what else I could do to make him believe, I grabbed his hand put it back where it was. His eyes flickered at my movement, the dark his returned but there was also a smile that spread on his full lips.

I took the courage to pull him down until our lips met again, he let me kiss him without taking the lead. I felt him lightly squeezing my breast increased the pace of my heartbeat along with the heat that'd consumed my body.

As we pulled away, he rested his forehead against mine.

"Do you trust me?" He asks, his breath matching the pace of my heavy breathing.

Without needing to think twice about my reply, I nodded, "Yes."

If I trusted anyone in the whole world, it was Kaden. Yes, it was him who made me feel safe, it was him who kissed my fears away, it was him who saved my life, it was him who held me when I needed it the most. So how could I not trust him?

"Can this come off?" He asked, his eyes soft as he lightly tugged at the hem of my nightdress.

The question made my cheeks burn, none had ever seen me naked before. I knew my relationship with Kaden was intimate, and it was common for people to see their partners and there was no hesitation present in me to let him see me bare.

Soon enough I was going to tell him everything about my life, all the things that I had kept a secret for my safety until I could fully trust him. But at this point, I knew I trusted him. Enough let him see my everything, know my every detail and of course identity.

So I just nodded.

The smile crept at his lips at my response and he pressed his lips one last time before he attempted to lift up my dress, but before his hands could pull at the dress the rapid banging against the door interrupted us

"Kaden....open the door, please...please please..." It was none other than Layla's voice that supposedly sounded panicked.
