Chapter 43
Third Person's P.O.V
As queen Helena noticed her husband furiously getting back inside the room, she couldn't be more disappointed due to being fully aware of what conversation had gone on between him and the mate of her sons whom she cared for dearly.
When she noticed Elijah leaving the room and heading toward the other part of the floor where the room of her sons and Jasmine was situated, she knew Elijah had something in his head and it could bring no good like all the decisions he had often taken due to his ego and rage he was never able to control.
And after hearing the conversation between him and Jasmine, Helena had perceived that Elijah was taking things too far and once again making a mistake that would bring no good to anyone.
Of course, Helena Believed that there could be none better than Jasmine for her sons. She'd seen the love Jasmine had for them in her eyes and she had also seen how much her sons loved her.
But unfortunately, the one who was trying to separate them was their own father.
"Where were you, Elijah?" Helena's question did cause a flicker to pass through Elijah's eyes.
"Nowhere, I was just at the bar," Elijah spoke as he opened his coat and let it rest on the couch.
"As far as I know the bar isn't situated where you had gone." Helena's statement caused Elijah to freeze on the spot, there was this hidden rage beneath Helena's suppressed tone that Elijah had never gotten to witness before today.
He knew his wife did not support what he was trying to do at all.
But could Elijah be blamed? He too wanted his sons' welfare but it was just that he was too blind to believe that Jasmine was not good for his sons and someone deceptive like Fiona was, he did not know how selfish and evil Fiona was under the disguise of an innocent princess who only agreed to be the mate of his ones just to show her gratitude to King Elijah who had once helped her kingdom recover from the attack of a rival.
"You have followed me." The sentence that left from Elijah's mouth was not a question.
"I couldn't stop myself anymore, Elijah, I couldn't." Helena stood up from her place and towards her husband with heavy steps.
"Helena I..." Elijah tried to speak but she cut him off.
"No, Elijah. Don't say another word. I am feeling ashamed of you for the first time ever in my life! You are trying to ruin your sons' happiness, you are once again letting yourself decide without caring for anyone else but only yourself." Helena spat.
Elijah was left stunned by his wife's sudden outburst, his mate who have always walked beside him without questioning a single of his decision was today standing up against him and that was because of...Jasmine.
"What do you mean, Helena? Do you think I don't care for my sons? You think I am doing it all for myself?!" Elijah's asked aloud, his indignant voice echoing the room.
"I don't know, Elijah. I don't really get what are you thinking and how you are even thinking that making your sons leave their fated mate and stay with someone selfish and fraudulent like Fiona would bring to them. You are once again making a big mistake being blinded by your ego and rage!" Helena let out, the anger and years of suffering that endured because her husband never tried to understand her and cared for her choices.
"Helena, can't you fucking understand how weak they'll get by keeping a human as a mate? She'd be like a ticking bomb to handle because every fucking enemy will try to use her to get a hold of them and their powers, she can't protect herself on her own and just because of the bond our sons would have put themselves at risk! And she can't give them an heir because humans can't bear vampire's children in their wombs!" Elijah spoke.
"Why do you always keep focusing on the negatives, Elijah? Why?" Helena seemed to be on the verge of tears, frustrated and not knowing if she can ever make her husband understand.
"Instead of supporting them and helping them get through all these, you are trying to separate them that will bring no good other than gifting you more distance from your sons and ruining the relationship even more than you already have by banishing them from their own kingdom years ago!"
"Don't join two events together, Helena!" Elijah snapped, "I know I had made a mistake, and I tried to bring them back. I tried my heart and soul but till then they had already gone far away from me and I even accept that I was the one who was wrong at that moment, I was the one who pushed them away but that does not mean that I will always be wrong in every matter. We have witnessed it, Helena— You, I ad the whole world have witnessed what kind of storms one has to face during ruling a kingdom, and Just because we both were able to give our best we have come this far but having a human as a mate would never do that for them, they'll always be one step far from the door of success because of having a weak companion."
"And I am here stopping you from making another mistake like that, Elijah. Jasmine is the perfect mate for them, she is cosine by the grid to be with your sons and your choice can never be better than what the creator has selected for them. She is a part of their soul, Elijah. Without her, they will never be completed and forget about a weak companion, if they don't establish the bond of the souls they'll become weak themselves!" Helena said, her eyes brimming with tears that were there because of both rage and sorrow.
Elijah on the other hand was still standing on his ground, still not being able to accept the truth and remove the blindfold from over his eyes to see the reality.
"Exactly, Helena. And they can never mark a human because it will either end up with Jasmine being dead or it could be the other way which can be she successfully being turned into a vampire only if she has vampire's blood in her which she definitely hasn't."
"It can be the other way too, there were vampires who live with human mates and there still might be. There must be a way of marking a human and we should help them trying to get through these problems instead of trying to break the bind that was made by God."
"Of course, there are ways but the only few vampires who had human mates are no longer around. You can take Lord Fredrick as an example who had marked his human mate and even had a beautiful daughter, he just had the answer but that all was burned into ashes just like that in that storm of that night." Elijah let out a bitter chuckle.
"If they had once figured out a way, then we can find one too. All I am asking from you is that for once instead of forcing your decisions on your sons try to understand and support them." Helena once again tried to convince her husband, hoping he'd get out of the delusion that what he was trying to do was the right thing to do.
"I can't push them into graves while I know what kind of difficulties they'd have to face because of having a pathetic human as mate, she'll later be a burden on them. And just like Queen Katherine, she will also fail to protect her children and end up losing."
"Just because someone's life was ended with a tragic event, they had to face the cruelest part of the fate does not mean that everyone will face that too. Get out of the damn thought, Elijah! By doing all of these, don't push your sons more away than they already are! For once think of their happiness, care for their emotions, and not on how to keep making them reach the highest of the success!" Helena shouted.
During this entire argument, if anything that affected Elijah was these few lines Helena said.
He fell silent, and all the words and what his wife has said started replaying in his head.
And his silence remained still and unmoved.
"She is their strength, not weakness, she is the most valuable thing to them for whom they can give their own lives. And I have seen how much Jasmine loves, it shines in her eyes. Elijah, remember one thing very carefully; All the mistakes you have made in your life might be forgiven over time but if you separate that girl from them, they'll never ever forgive you and you'll lose your sons forever because some mistakes can never be forgotten." With that Helena walked out of the room leaving Elijah to drown in the silence and a dilemma that he had to deal with on his own.
Surely Elijah was now questioning if he was actually right or not? And, nearest the answer he could see said that maybe....he was not.
