Demons From The Past

Isabelle

"Isabelle, wake your mate up. We'll take the things inside," Jason spoke and got out of the limo, followed by Carter and Cassandra.

My eyes moved to look at Kaden who was peacefully sleeping with his head on my lap and in his quite strange position that included his arms wrapping around my hips and his head burying into my stomach

To be brutally honest, I didn't want to wake him up.

But, I knew we couldn't stay inside the car, and the night was slowly crawling up too and the dwindling sun now getting covered by the thick mass of black clouds was just another sign.

I moved my fingers to lightly play with his silky hair locks before I leaned in and whispered, "Wake up, sleepyhead."

He didn't move, so I placed my other hand on his back, tracing small circles there over his shirt. This caused a slight movement from him to get noticeable and his hold around me tightened.

"So you won't wake up, huh?" I softly asked and this time he raised his head the slightest bit to look at me.

"Let me stay like for a few more seconds," He spoke, the sleepiness shading his eyes.

A smile formed on my lips as he made his head comfortable on my lap again.

"Cute little Lycan," I found myself chuckling and lightly grazing my fingers on the back of his head.

"In what world do you think that I am little?" His husky laugh sounded in the car and I felt his chest vibrate.

Well...he was kinda right. In no way Kaden was little from anywhere, he could easily tower over any average man.

"Right now you are acting like one," I spoke and he looked at me.

"Oh really?" He asked, a smile had crept on his lips and without missing a second I leaned in placing a peck on them.

"Yes." I had just finished uttering that one word and the moment all I knew was that I was laying beneath Kaden and his lips had pressed against mine.

The strength he used to pin me down told it all--The sleep was long gone from the cells of his body and could I complain? No way!

He kissed me, the light strokes of his tongue left my mind hazy, and before I could even contemplate I was kissing him back.

We broke the kiss as the need for air became sufficient, there was a grin on his face that made my heart flutter.

"Do you still think I am little?" He lowly chuckled tracing his index finger from the side of my face settling under my chin to raise my head.

Not quite understanding how to react, I shook my head and this caused the very familiar smirk of him to tug at his lips and he slowly got off me sliding on the seat next to me.

"Come on, let's get going,"  He must have noticed my furious blush, so he just smiled and outstretched his hand.

I placed my hand on his one, my gaze glancing at our locked hands then at his face, "I have something to tell you, Kaden."

"What is it, love?"

"I want to give you the..."

"What you are two doing here? Let's go," Before I could finish my sentence Cassandra's voice interrupted diverting Kaden's attention.

"Coming," Kaden responded and Cassandra walked away taking the last bag that was inside the limo.

As she left I looked at Kaden attempting to speak again but my words were left untold at the tip of my tongue as the words left Kaden's left, "Let's go inside, angel. We'll talk in the night."

He smiled squeezing my hand and guiding me outside the car.

Well...I had to wait till the sun goes completely out of sight....

For the first time ever, I was feeling impatient but why?

****

I combed my hair looking at the mirror in front of me. I was kind of bored since Kaden was busy fixing the duties of the new guards who had arrived from his kingdom.

But there was something strange about the atmosphere of the mansion today, a smell that I couldn't recognize fully but enough to give rise to the terror.

As if a spell someone had wrapped around the walls of the mansion before we had come.

Or maybe I was just overthinking.

I got to be overthinking. Who had the courage to enter the mansion when there were countless guards patrolling around each second?

The sound of the door getting closed caused my heavy chain of thoughts to finally break and I walked out of the bathroom.

Finally, he was here... Now I could give him the locket and get rid of this weird feeling.

The smoke stretched upon me as I exited the bathroom, but then my eyes moved to glance at the doorway.

There was no scent of Kaden, nor did the sight in front of me belong to him.

Someone was facing the door, and his back was facing me.

It was not...Kaden.

The body language, the grayish hair.....they were not Kaden's. In the absence of him, terror started seeping through the cracks that he had mended.

"Who are you?" My voice trembled as I slowly backed away.

A solid minute there was no movement from that person, a minute that resulted in the sweat gliding down my forehead. Something about the scent that took over the room was strange.

And then he turned around, causing the gasp to leave my mouth.

Alistair......

"Long time no see Isabelle," His malicious voice buzzed around the room and began taking slow steps.

The sound of steps etched the fear into my skin, I could feel myself trembling and wanting the wall to take me inside.

"Haven't you missed home, honey?" He stood in front of me, his dark eyes holding the same malice ever as before.

No words left my mouth, I was frozen on the spot. I couldn't think anything else, all it was....was the fear I had thought of escaping the day I managed to flee from the palace of Alistair.

"That room is missing your presence, you need to come back with me." He smiled and reached out to tuck a piece of my hair strand behind my ear but I cowered away whimpering.

The first tear slid down my cheek.

All the terrible memories Kaden's love had masked for a while were stirring awake as rapid as a storm that would leave everything demolished in a way that never can be fixed again.

"Sweetheart, don't cry, It'll be a matter of three days and then you will be free for...forever." He lightly stroked my hair, the artificial tenderness he added in his voice was even more terrifying than prior.

No!No!No! I did not want to go with him.

I wanted to stay with my mate. I wanted to stay with Kaden.

"K-Kaden..." I found myself whimpering closing my eyes, trying to hide into the wall so that I wouldn't need to look at the person who smashed all of my dreams in one single night.

"Kaden Moretti, is it?" His chuckle ringing in my ears, the very familiar burnt smell of him wafted into my nostrils, "I see....the Lycan has taken quite a good care of you. The marks are no longer there on you and....nor the torment."

Kaden...where are you?

"Unfortunately he'll have to pay for it. You and your dear mate will be sent to heaven together." He whispered and my eyes went wide open.

No! I couldn't let him do anything to Kaden.

"Please leave me alone! I beg you, you have already taken everything from me. Please don't take the last person God has blessed me with." I cried out shaking my head and joined my hands in front of him.

"Shh! Don't cry," Alistair mocked tossing my tears with his index finger, "I am doing a favor on you, Isabelle. What will you do in heaven with your boring mom, dad, and sister only? Kaden's company will please you."

I continuously shook my head and tried to move from there but Alistair had grabbed my arms keeping me still, his nails were painfully digging into my skin.

"Let me go!" I cried out, the helplessness I hated the most was crawling up my insides.

I wanted to go to Kaden. I wanted to hide in his arms.

"Not in this life, Isabelle Morgan," He menacingly whispered, "Not in this life."

I didn't know how I got the courage, but my hands automatically moved to push at his chest and it left him stumbling backward taking a few steps in progress to steady himself.

There was shock covering his eyes.

Without wasting any moment to think of anything else, I sprinted for the door and twisted the knob. The door opened but Alas! Before I could take any steps the devil caught my arm yanking me inside with such a force that my body fell on the ground.

The pained hiss slipped past my lips, but I could barely register the pain because the turmoil inside of me was already destroying everything.

Alistair was here to destroy everything again.

"You pathetic human, what did you think huh? You'd escape from me and have a happily ever after?" He harshly grabbed a fistful of my hair jerking my head upwards, "I think I should remind of the day how I killed your parents and sister. Did you forget it?"

The remembrance of his words washed over my body tossed away the mere vestige of courage I had mustered. I didn't know what to do, what to think or how to stop Alistair.

All I knew was that he was going to snatch the happiness I had found after years. He was taking me away from Kaden and plotting to hurt him too.

"Did you forget how your mother's blood flowed? How was your dad stabbed in his heart? And how your sister died a pathetic death?"

"Oh...by the way, don't you want to know what brought me to you?" A smirk room upon his lips and he slowly pulled out Orabelle's locket, "This, your best sister's belonging you have kept in the closet." He laughed wrapping the chain of it around his fingers.

More tears gathered in my eyes but there was something else too.

A rage I had not felt before. Something wanting to get outside of me.

I closed my eyes, the fire slowly consuming all of my body but then I heard it..Kaden's voice.

"Isabelle..."

Alistair's hand slowly released its hold on my hair and he looked at the doorway as my eyes too trailed to spot Kaden standing there.

"Kaden..." The whisper left my mouth but no reaction could be seen on Alistair, there was more likely anticipation as if he wanted Kaden to step in.

Kaden's eyes went wide before they spotted Alistair, the fury shaded the shock. His nails extended, the pitch-black color of his eyes was now everything that could be seen. His shirt began tearing up and then he tried to step into the room.

A sudden impact of something none was aware of except for Alistair, made Kaden stumble backward, it was with such force that I could feel the wind hit my face too.

Kaden looked at me then at the wide-ope door, there was a bluish hue that now could be seen at the doorway.

A spell.....

Alistair has put on a spell to prevent anyone from entering the room.

"Sorry, Lycan but I am taking away your mate today." The sinister smile took over his lips, "Save her if you can."

A look of dismay and strange fear plastered over Kaden's face.

"Don't you even dare to lay a finger on her, Alistair Giardini! I'll kill you! You bloody piece of shit!" Kaden attempted to enter the room again but with an unknown force, his body was thrown against the wall.

A worried gasp left my mouth and I stood up running for the door, but the same force hit me and my body stumbled backward.

"Angel, don't come near the door," Kaden hurriedly spoke gathering himself to stand up, I could see a trail of his blood sliding down the side of his arm.

"Poor couple, can't even have a last hug before the ultimate goodbye," Alistair faked a sound of pity, walking closer to me and grabbing my arm to force me to my feet.

"Don't touch her you fucking bastard!" Kaden shouted and this made a laugh tear from his throat.

"Careful Kaden Moretti, shouting won't get to anywhere," He chuckled, "But your one move could make your Angel reach somewhere you will never be able to get her back from."

As if Kaden understood the meaning lying beneath those words, the rage burned in his eyes. His nostrils flared and his fists clenched on his sides.

"You are not understanding what a pathetic death is waiting for you, Alistair. You can't even imagine what I am going to do to you." This time Kaden's voice was low and perilous.

There was that animalistic sight of him I could see through his orbs that were fixated on Alistair. There was a terrifying warning that he was passing to him but it didn't affect Alistair at all.

"Let's see whose death is waiting for whom, remember it all will end where it started." Alistair's voice grew deep at the end, his fingers rubbed together and the dark smoke started percolating the room.

The tears freely ran down my cheeks, I knew what was going to happen. There was no way anyone could prevent Alistair today, not even... Kaden.

"Oh my God! Isabelle...." Cassandra's worried voice and multiple footsteps approaching indicating others' arrival reached my hearing.

The smoke had started filling the room, I could see Kaden banging against the invisible shield to get inside but no gain.

"Say goodbye to everyone, Isabelle," Alistair whispered.

I looked at Kaden and others, the tears that blurred my as I looked at everyone one by one. The look of helplessness shaded Kaden's eyes and the guards running towards the room were seen.

The tear slid down Kaden's cheeks as we locked eyes amidst the chaos of uncertainties.

"I love you...." I found myself uttering the words looking at him for the last time before everything around went black.

This time I knew, when I was going to open my eyes I wasn't going to find Kaden's arms around me instead there would be that scary room I had thought of escaping along with the demons of my past.

After all, the demons of my past were here to ruin the beautiful with I had dreamed of with Kaden. Once again my dreams were on the way to get shattered.
