A New Chapter

Isabelle

I woke up with a heavyweight on my body, I rubbed my eyes before I slowly opened them looking at the owner of the weight who was now peacefully sleeping on the top of my body with his head buried in the crook of my neck and arms around me.

Having a full-grown man on the top of your body where he was partially double of your size was not quite a comfortable position yet I found myself smiling and lightly playing with his hair, untangling the knots that had formed due to the long night of sleep.

He still smelt of the body wash we'd used in the night.

I placed a kiss on the side of his head, and my fingers automatically grazed on his scalp.

This must have felt comfortable for him so he shifted in his sleep scooting down and resting his head a little higher than my chest. Now his head was kind of nestled under my chin.

I smiled and lightly brushed my fingers on his jaw. I didn't want to wake him up but at the same time, I could see it was more than late compared to the usual time we wake up in the morning.

My small attempt didn't manage to get any reaction from the sleeping Lycan.

So this time I let nails graze from his broad shoulders to his biceps and finally the smooth skin on his back. And this move of mine affected him....in fact, did more than what I had thought.

The goosebumps covered his skin and I felt him shiver even though it was barely noticeable, the next moment his grip tightened around me and I could feel his heavy breathing hitting my skin.

A low growl rumbled in the back of his throat and every cell of my body froze at his reaction.

Oops! In the process of waking him up, I of course had awoken a different part of him too. Maybe the one I had seen last night.

And as he slowly sat up, the darkness that had shaded his eyes exactly told me that I have awakened the Lycan.

"You knew what you were doing, didn't you?" I grabbed dragged my hands and locked them over my head in his stronghold.

I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out, accepting my utter defeat in silence I shook my head.

I saw the smirk tugging at his lips upon my response, almost devilish to be compared.

Kaden had two sides...one he usually remained--Calm and gentle and another that I had only gotten a few glimpses of before yesterday night-- Unpredictable and rough, the way it made my skin crawl with desire every time.

He leaned closer to my face, too close that there was not even an inch left between our faces. His lips torturingly brushed over mine as he uttered the next words.

"You don't have any idea what I would have done to you if you weren't yet to recover from last night's events," He chuckled shaking his head, it was extremely low and husky.

As if being those words there was a deranged animal that fought to get out and....ravish me.

And I don't know why but the thought of it made the desire prompt inside of me but at the same time I was well aware of the ache between my thighs, even though I wanted to see what Kaden meant by that sentence I still couldn't ask him because my body could not handle it.

Not knowing what to do, I decided to make the stupid move like every other time and the sentence left my mouth, "Umm...good morning..."

A disbelieving grin took over his face upon my words and another chuckle left his mouth but this was not like the prior one, it was...I guess normal?

"Good morning to you too, Angel," He smiled and pressed his lips on mine for a quick kiss, "And yes, I love you." He let go of my wrists and cupped my face.

If I was a candle I would melt right at that spot because of the warmth that only those three words had sowed within me.

"I love you too, Kaden.." I whispered and wrapped my arms around him pulling him close till our chest met, he didn't complain instead he leaned into my touch and buried his head in my neck.

We stayed like that for a few minutes before Kaden whispered, "I think we should get freshened up and go downstairs otherwise everyone else would think we are still doing things."

My cheeks burned red and I instantly withdrew my arms from around him, he supposedly found my action funny and laid a kiss on my cheek before he got off my body.

"Go and get freshened up, everybody must be waiting for us at the breakfast table."

I tried to hide my blush by quickly nodding at him and rushing into the bathroom ignoring the slight pain that was of course given by Kaden...especially between my legs and my poot muscles.

But who could blame him? I certainly had enjoyed all of it.

"Oh my God, you don't know how happy our mom and dad would be if they hear that Kaden has marked his mate!" Cassandra rocked back and forth, jumping in his childlike excitement.

The smile formed on my lips looking at her, there was a big smile on her face and her eyes shining in excitement.

"Congratulations, Luna," Carter smiled at me.

"Thank you," I giggled and sat beside Kaden, he almost immediately slipped his hand around my waist pulling me close to his body.

He also looked very happy, I hadn't seen him this happy before. There was a different kind of shine that flickered in his eyes every time he'd glance at his mark on my neck.

The sight itself satisfied the territorial nature of his Lycan and this was evident.

"Well, now Kaden could get peaceful hours of sleep at night without worrying that another Lycan might steal his mate," Jason chuckled making Cassandra and Carter burst into a fit of laughter.

A giggle unwantedly left my mouth and this seemed to catch Kaden's attention.

"You are having fun in it huh?"

I instantly shut my mouth at his question but in the end, a short laugh did manage to make its way out of my mouth.

"Sorry," I mumbled still trying to control my laughter.

"I have never heard something so genuine before," He laughed out, the sarcasm evident in his voice, and this time we both laughed out looking at each other.

"Well, you should thank me then," I smiled and poked at his dimple with my index finger.

"Oh really?" His voice grew mischievous and I saw his hands reaching my sides.

Thankfully I realized a second before he could succeed in finishing his intention that he was about to start tickling me.

I got up from the couch and ran for the stairs, a triumphant giggle let my mouth.

"Isabelle, wait..." He called out.

"You can't catch me, Kaden..." I ran up the stairs, feeling the joy of the newly found victory I thought would last long.

"Okay, Let's see about that..." I heard his chuckle.

Two more stairs I managed to cross, a gust of wind brushed past me and I felt two arms wrapping around me and locking me on the spot.

My eyes widened and my lips parted in surprise as I looked at Kaden who now was standing right in front of me.

I blinked a couple of times to make myself believe or maybe digest the fact that he had crossed this distance within less than a mere second.

"H-how did you do that?" I stuttered, flabbergasted.

A chuckle from Kaden was all I received from him before he leaned in and kissed my cheek, "You are adorable."

"Isabelle, have you forgotten that Lycans have super speed?" Jason laughed and my mouth hung open.

"You used your super-speed?!"

I saw Kade trying to stop himself from laughing as he nodded.

"That's cheating! You were not supposed to use that!" My complaint seemed to increase his amusement.

"Well...you haven't told me before you ran off like a cute little bunny." He kissed the top of my nose.

"I am not a bunny, "My lips formed a pout on their own.

"Of course, you are not," He chuckled, "You are my angel, my beautiful mate." He kissed my forehead.

I tried to fight the blush to not show up on my face but in the end, the pink shaded my cheeks, and of course, Kaden's eyes did not miss that.

"Awww, love birds," Cassandra and Carter spoke in unison.

The already present blush on my face increased to the point where I sure looked like an overripe tomato.

Unable to understand what I should do, I buried my face into his chest. A deep chuckle rumbled in his chest because of my action.

"Y'all are making her shy, shut up!" There was more mischief than authority in his voice.

"And you seem to enjoy it more than them...." I mumbled without looking at him.

"Yes because the blush looks good on you," He whispered into my ear and my body involuntarily shivered in his arms.

I didn't know why his whispers always managed to get this kind of reaction from me.

"Okay, guys...now we should start setting ready otherwise we will get late." Jason's voice managed to divert my attention.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"We are going for a picnic," Kaden was the one to answer my question, my eyes lit up in excitement.

"Really?"

"Yes, love. Now let's go and get ready." He picked me up without any warning resulting in me gasping in surprise. And he began walking up the stairs

"I can walk, Kaden," It was hard to stop the smile that fought to display on my lips.

"I know but I won't let you walk," He spoke landing a quick peck on my lips before he lead us to our room.

As too good to be true everything in my life seemed right now, but I was happy that it was the reality. I have found someone who loves me and a family that cares for me.

But the mere fear of everything getting snatched away from me again was still there, was something like that going to occur in my life again, or it was just my fear?

I hope the happiness lasts forever...Kaden's hand in my stays forever and we never get separated.

The new chapter of my life was with Kaden, and I could want everything but not the demons from that one end to emerge back from the past and destroy everything....again.
