Chapter 38

Jasmine

I opened the door of the Library, hastily walking toward the shelf I had Huge hopes that it had the book that could somewhat explain the entire spectrum of traits and signs of each creature that could match with the signs I had been seeing lately.

I began looking through the books, the titles, and the pages, examining the sections and not caring about the mess I was leaving behind as I dropped each of those books on the ground due to my impatience to find the right one that actually had the information I needed.

Hours passed but I did not get a single clue, despite the fact that I did even remember the count of how many books I'd looked through.

All these books had descriptions of the powers of those creatures or their introduction but none of them had what I was looking for.

How could I even consider myself in one of these categories when none of them do not match my signs?

Even if I had found anything common that was not enough for me to have the answer I was looking for.

The frustration build more and more, the desperation began passing the limit of my endurance.

Out of the overwhelming frustration, I threw another of those useless books on the ground, a groan slipping past my lips as I did so.

"Oops...." A mocking voice suddenly rang across the room causing my attention to divert and my eyes to spot the last person I wanted to see today.

Fiona.

The sight of this woman caused my blood to boil, and the absolutely disgusting smirk on her face made me want to punch her in the face.

"So, the poor human girl is trying to find ways to complete the mate bond with her mates?" Her voice dripped with sympathy in a humiliating way. The evil shone in her cat-like eyes same as the other day, roguery seemed to run in her veins, and deception had certainly corrupted her mind.

"I am in no mood to waste my time on you, Fiona," I crossed my arms over my chest, the rage speaking through my eyes, "So, please leave."

Disbelief crossed her expression for a second but then the anger overshadowed it the next second, but that mere amount of contempt shown on her face was nothing compared to the rage that had shrouded my insides like an immovable wave of a vast fire.

"I can't believe you have the audacity to argue with me, you pathetic human, " She said, fuming, "What do you think the stupidity will take you to? You should be worried about the consequences. "

"As far as I can see, you are the one who's in the kingd0m of my mates and daring to insult me. So it's you who should be worried about the consequences because I can throw you out of this palace with a snap of my finger." I said my face with no sign of emotion other than the coldness.

She seemed flabbergasted by my comeback and the lack of words became evident in her silence for the next few seconds.

Surely this female did not have enough intelligence as she claimed to have.

"You fucking stupid bitch," She walked closer to me with long strides, "It's your misconception that you can do a fucking thing at all, get out of your dreamland. Accept the fact— You are a useless, pathetic, and weak human who can never be a good fit for being the mate of the kings."

"And you should accept the fact that— You are insecure, desperate for attention, and a selfish bitch who can't understand a single thing that the kings she is lusting over do not even want to look at her fucking face!"

The insult hit her perfectly, the shade of her face turned red in both embarrassment and anger.

"How dare you?!" She shouted.

"Fiona, I have told you before that I have no mood to talk to you. But let me tell you more nicely this time," I smiled at her, suppressing the urge to slap the shit out of her, "GET. LOST. BEFORE. I.THROW. YOU. OUT."

"You fucking slut," She then raised her hand intending to slap me but I grabbed her hand in the meantime.

Something inside me snapped and the next thing I knew was, I had slapped her with all my force and her body landed on the ground with a loud thud.

The sound echoed throughout the silent library, her eyes widened in shock and countable it covered with disbelief.

"If you ever try to raise your hand on me again, I will make sure that's the last thing you do!" I said aloud making sure she heard every one of my words.

Her hand slowly raised to touch where I had slapped her, the marks of my fingers showing up on her pale skin— The sight was oddly satisfying and it made me want to put more of those red marks on her face.

She deserved the worst.

With her nasty deeds and triggering, she absolutely deserved it.

"You hit me, you don't even understand what a big mistake you have made." Her eyes turned red and her voice low as she stood up, "You are dead meat." She attempted to approach me but I had already had enough of her and wasted my time.

"Guards," I clapped my hands twice, and instantly multiple guards walked in faster than ever.

Fiona's feet stopped as she noticed them and a smirk curved its way on my lips.

"Your Majesty," The guards bowed in front of me and waited for my command

"I have no time to waste on you, Fiona. So now it's up to you whether you want to save the last drop of dignity you have left and walk away on your own or these guards throw you out but if they do it, it'll be out of the palace they are going to throw you out."

She kept her on me for a long moment, not saying or doing anything but only looking at me with the hatred she had stored for me. Someone very cunning was going behind those red eyes of hers but she did not let it come out.

"You. Will. Regret. This." She spat in anger and stormed out of the room.

As I watched her leave the room, I felt myself heaving out a sigh of relief.

Her presence bothered me, too much that I could not even express it.

If there was someone whom I could hate endlessly, she would have been one of them.

"You guys can leave now," I told the guards and they obeyed leaving the room quickly.

As the prior silence was back in the room, I drew in a deep breath and got myself to the task that I couldn't finish due to Fiona's rude interruption.

I once again began looking through the books, It did not matter to me that there were over a thousand books present in this library and it might take me more than days for me to get the book I was looking for, or maybe I might not find it at all.

Again a huge mess of books was made on the floor, book after book that I knowingly and sometimes unknowingly threw on the floor but I couldn't be concerned about anything else at all other than the one thing that had brought me here in this library.

And as my hopes began to diminish and my determination on the edge of losing its solidity, suddenly a book fall from the shelve next to one I was standing opposite.

My eyes slowly moved to spot the velvet-covered book and something written on it with golden ink that shined in the light coming through the open window.

Despite thinking to ignore it at first, I found myself walking towards it a few moments later.

Something about leaving this book without looking through it did not feel right to me, it just made me feel some sort of anxiousness I was not ready to deal with.

I walked closer to the book and picked it up.

On the blood-red colored cover of the book, there remained written in bold golden letters— Predators.

The confusion took over whilst I looked at the name, my fingertips brushed on the velvet feeling the smoothness of it, and then I slowly opened the book. On the very first page, there remained a symbol— A full moon, but it was completely black.

My skepticism rose even more, and I turned it to the next page.

The headline of the paragraph came to my gaze.

Transformation of humans to the predators of the night—Vampires.

Knowing that reading this was not going to come into my work, not when I no longer considered myself a human.

I turned the next few pages and all it had was different symbols and the name of different creatures and how a human could be turned into one of them.

The book turned interesting to me as I flipped each of the pages, the titles and the vivid descriptions were intriguing.

And after I read through some more pages, finally a completely different title was displayed in my view.

Transformation Of Vampires

Below the title there remained sections and pictures with symbols that supposedly indicated the species each part was referring to.

It astonished me as I looked through at the long row of creatures that vampires could be transformed into but my stare got glued to the part where it had stated human.

The description said,

"Vampires upon certain age and circumstances can be transformed and given the ability to live like a human. The transformations can vary from— Cases where a vampire can be fully transformed into a human and where the transformations can only be semi-successful where the result would be the vampire living as a dhampir (half-mortal) for the rest of its life."

I turned to the next page.

"The cases of Dhamphir occur during the transformation period, if the transfiguring vampire's potential powers that resided in its body suppress the powers of the spells. Often the vampires who have the potential or higher chances of owning and being capable of gaining supreme powers, only end up transforming into the stage of a dhampir and these half mortals are capable of living like a human for the rest of their lifespan specifically without any chance of automatic reversal transformation that has more chances to occur if the memories of the vampire are not erased."

So Vampires can be turned into humans and their memories can be erased too....

"But there are rare incidents where the transformed half-mortal can regain its powers but that mostly happens if the transformation has been made at a very young age but another reason behind it is can be noticed as well that if the growing powers of the female as it ages surpasses the limit of what the bound spells can keep chained and it results into the vampire slowly gaining its powers back and rarely all at once but that too will happen with frequent episodes of haze where the vampire can gradually remember its capabilities and powers."

Frequent episodes...

The moment in the yacht where I had seen my eyes getting red, then the moment something of something sharp trying to tear through my gums and finally a few moments ago how I had slapped Fiona and the unknown power I had felt within myself....flashed in front of my eyes like a projector.

Everything made much more sense right now....

But, this new reality I was inches away from fully getting to know was scaring me, I don't know why but I was getting afraid but it was something that terrified me without any reason to be given.

The sweat covered my palms and my forehead, and the rate of my heartbeat increased. I felt my hand on the book loosening nonetheless I turned the next page.

"The vampires who are transformed into Humans or Dhampirs do not age in the same way as humans, they do not age until they cross a hundred years and this period does not seem long to them as despite the changes in their bodies their minds remain in a structure like Vampire's one. Once they cross the first century living like a human, the memories of the past century slowly vanish except for a couple of years which keeps them in the delusion that they are human and they have all the similarities with this specie. And gradually the subconscious minds of the vampires fall under the pressure of the spell and it's tricked to believe they are one of those creatures they are living with."

I once again turned to the next page and this time there was nothing to read it in anymore, it was blank and the end of the book.

I shut the book and it was put back where it was.

My knees were almost giving up and I rested my back against the wall inhaling deep breaths to calm myself down.

I had never thought that I'd ever discovered something like this about myself, it was....overwhelming.

The questions I still had in my mind, this new reality I have discovered and what I'd do after this, and if I am ever going to get back into the way I was made....everything was pondering in my head.

But who could have transformed me and why?

Why would someone do something like this and what was the intention behind it?

As the questions began clouding my brain once again, the very familiar name rang in my head.

Martha....

I had grown up with her, every memory I could remember was only with her. She was the only one who knew everything.

The rage took over once again as Martha's harsh denial buzzed in my head.

But I knew she was not going to answer, she did not want me to know about the things I deserved to know. I did not know what was the hidden agenda behind it or what was actually making her act this way but she did not want me to know anything about myself at all.

I blew out a heavy sigh and rubbed my forehead before running my hand down my chin, something I thought would help me not push myself off the limits.

And suddenly I heard a loud crashing sound, followed by Lucien's voice shouting Archer's name.
