Baron's Spell

Kaden

A new hope rose within me as Baron's den came into my view, the sun had settled down and gradually the night was crawling up. Even for a Lycan myself, it was harder to notice the surroundings. The darkness of the forest seemed to get increased in this area.

I shifted in my human form and slipped on my clothes, others were still a few miles behind as far as I could presume. My Lycan had lost control over the thoughts of Isabelle and I had run off the tracks but my luck still made me reach here faster than expected.

Without thinking twice I advanced towards the den with long strides. As I entered the den, I realized that the atmosphere inside was even darker than the forest. It was utterly dark, a pink drop silence prowled around, no source of light could be found.

I wanted to speak but all of a sudden voice boomed from inside of the den.

"Who are you?"

The recognition passed through me like a swift wind.

Baron....

It was his voice.

Before I could even respond, A flambeau lit up. Baron whose back was facing me turned around, the sight of his glowing eyes came into my view than the Griffin that walked and stood beside him.

The creature's body tail and back legs were of a lion; The head and wings were of an eagle and the eagle's talons as its front feet. It looked at me, more likely inspected for any upcoming danger but it found none I saw the blue glowing in its eyes fading.

Unlike every other griffin Baron's griffin did reside in his body, it was born with him and that gave him superior control over the powers he had. He was born with the abilities that differed him from every other Griffin.

"Prince Kaden Moretti?" Baron asked out, an expression of disbelieving morphed on his face.

He probably had not expected me here, the last time we met was over a hundred years ago and after that, the upside downs of my life didn't give me the chance to meet him again.

"How do I owe the pleasure to have your presence here in my presence, prince?" He walked closer to me, a smile room upon his lips.

"I need your help, Baron. My mate's in danger." My sentence made his news rise in surprise.

"What?"

"Yes, Baron. I don't have time to tell you everything right now but I want you to help."

"But prince, how can I come to your help if a Lycan like you is unable to do so?" The shock was written all over his face. He seemed to be having a hard time that I was asking for help from him.

"You can help me, my name is captive somewhere I don't know and I've marked here so you can track her down by using the mate bond, my venom."

"I am afraid we might not get the results we want, I haven't practiced for centuries." He rubbed his forehead pulling his hand down to his chin.

"You have to do this, Baron. I have no other way to find her, her life is in danger. I can't lose her...." My voice lowered at the end, the thought of losing Isabelle shook my soul.

"I'll try my best, Prince. but I can't guarantee if I am going to succeed." He nodded at me before he disappeared into the den and came back with a dagger, pieces of wood, and feathers.

He handed me the danger before he up a fire and motioned me to stand in front of him then he let the feather burn into the fire, different colored rays started surrounding the fireplace. I was surprised when I noticed the sudden intensity of the fire that now began to reach the top of the den.

Baron closed his eyes chanting his spells, there seemed to be a change in the smoke. It was something strong and prominent, the silence was getting replaced by the sound of winds that did not even exist.

It was then when Baron opened his eyes, his eyes were entirely white except for the mere golden ray that shined.

He mentioned to the dagger and I clearly understood what he meant, I held out my hand and drew a cut on my palm. The stinging sensation appeared but it didn't affect me, I would draw hundred more cuts like this if it could lead me to my mate.

The blood gushed out of the new wound and I let it fall into the burning wood, as my venom got mixed with the heat of the fire the color of it changed—It was red, the fire turned blood red.

"Close your eyes."

I did what he said and silence started engulfing the surroundings again only to be interrupted with me harsh blow of the winds, I could still feel the heat of the fire but I could feel the dead leaves now rustling around, the dust particles getting mixed with the breeze and the fire increasing till it almost brushed my skin.

And then the darkness behind my eyelids started fading getting replaced with visions. The darkness faded like shadows disappearing into the light but then I saw it, the moon...and the view of a castle. At one side there was a river and on the other side, there was a start of a long stoned road. There was an unreal dusk shading the walls of the castle as if the place itself was inauspicious.

The view of the castle suddenly turned into darkness again only revealing a room's number, "960 before everything turned pitch black.

I found myself being skeptical but then a light creeping inside through a Ventana made me figure out that it was the view of a room that could barely be called a room less than a cell.

A strange feeling twisted in my gut, the room almost matched the description my mate had given me.

It wasn't even a second till the recognition had passed through me, I saw her....

My Isabelle... Sitting on the ground whilst hugging her knees, a lone tear rolled down her tear-stained cheek, there were those tight heavy chains wrapped around her hands and legs. She struggled to move her hand to wipe her tear but ended up wiping it off with the sleeve of her dress.

A pang in my heart appeared.

She was alone in that dark room...under the captive of those people who were the reason for her nightmares.

I couldn't even imagine what was she going through...but those tears, I wanted to wipe them away at any cost. I wanted to put back that heartwarming smile on her face instead of the gloom those monsters have had brought back.

I wanted to get her back...

And then I heard her barely audible whisper.

"I miss you, Kaden."

God...She didn't deserve to go through this.

I found my grip on the dagger tightened to the point that it began crumbling.

I needed to go to her and get her out of that hell. The fire set inside of me ignited the rage.

"I wish I could hug you one last time..." This small sob of hers broke my heart into pieces.

I failed to keep my promise, I had told her that I'd save her at any cost, I'd never let anyone take her away. And I failed to keep her safe.

When the rage I felt on myself was starting to get uncontrolled, all of a sudden the vision faded. The heat of the fire and the sound of the wind turned into nothingness.

My eyes opened in reflex and found the fire was no longer there, neither the gust breezes, it was the same silence that'd returned to the den.

Baron opened his eyes, and I saw that they were back to their normal state. There was a pained look in them as if the vision has saddened him.

"She is being captive in the castle that's situated 600 miles away in the east starting from the middle of the dark forest...Althea." Baron spoke.

Althea--The same forest I had rescued Isabelle from.

Relief washed over me, I was one step away from reaching her. I now knew her location.

"Thank you so much, Baron," I said "I'll never forget this favor, you don't know what you have just done for me. Cassandra, Carter, and Jason might be arriving here in a few hours, please just let them know the location and tell them that I have left."

A smile made its way on his face, "You don't need to thank me at all, Prince. I am glad I have come to your help. Your mate needs you," He spoke, "My Griffin would take you there, it'll be faster for you to reach there that way. Go and save your Mate."

The Griffin on its own walked over to me and bowed in front of me.

I gave Baron one last appreciative nod before I sat on the Griffin and in rapid speed, it took off to the sky.

The only thing in my mind was that I have to save my Angel.
