Chapter 42

Jasmine

I twisted the doorknob and slowly opened the door.

All the suspicion and doubts faded away soon as the face of King Elijah came into my view. He had this cold expression draped over his features like all the other time but what was he doing here at this hour?

"Your Majesty," I said surprised, and bowed in front of him to show respect.

"Can I come inside, Ms.Jasmine?" He asked.

"Sure," I hastily moved away from the door.

He stepped inside, his eyes looking around the room as if inspecting everything.

"So, this is your room?" He asked.

"Actually, I and Lucien, Micheal, and Archer stay here— It's our room."

He seemed surprised by my answer, the doubt shading his eyes for some reason.

"So you all have moved in together, great," His tone told it that he could be anything but not pleased with the response he got from me.

I did not know what to say except for standing there like a mute puppy.

Being thoroughly aware of the dislike King Elijah had stored for me I knew it, nothing I say will ever come t his liking because he simply did not want his sons to keep me as their mate.

"So what you all have planned about the mating process? Have you all figured anything out?" He asked even though it was evident he already knew the answer.

Was he here to deepen the wound I already had?

"No, we have not yet," I answered, trying hard to not let the pain become obvious because of my voice.

"And you all probably will never find out," He scoffed, "The Bloodmoon is already here and this is one of the strongest on that had occurred in centuries. The mate bonds that will be established in a proper manner will have the best strength stored for vampires and apparently, because of you, they are having to isolate and torture them instead of fulfilling the bond which could have opened the door to many possibilities for them."

The words landed like a harsh slap on my face.

The mention of my mates made the stinging pain hit me.

I was wrong, king Elijah wasn't here to deepen my wounds. He was here to give me more of them.

"What we are doing is because we want to stay with each other, they don't want anyone else and It's hurting me too to see the ones I love having to struggle like this but I can't help the fact of how I am created. It's beyond my control."

"Listen, Jasmine. I am not here to hear your sob story or how helpless you are in this case. I am here to make a deal." He said, having not even the tiniest bit of empathy.

"What are you trying to say?"

"Look, how about I offer you something and you let go of my sons in return?" He said, "You can do whatever you want, the double amount and luxury, and would never have to work a single day for your own self. It'll fulfill all your dreams and ambitions, and of course, you'd get what you want."

Anything that was holding me back from disrespecting him and losing my calm flew away right at the moment he managed to utter those cheap words and put my love for my mates in that cheap bid.

"Do you even hear yourself, King Elijah? How could you even think that I'll agree on leaving them because of some luxury you are offering?!" I could keep my voice low anymore, I had had enough of King Elijah's continuous remarks and insults.

Directly or indirectly, He had dared to question my love for them and I had to give him the response.

"Shouting won't work in hiding your true intentions, Jasmine. You and I both know that you are with them because they are the rulers of the kingdom and being with them will give you all you have ever wanted." King Elijah seemed too confident about his statement

"So I'll give you whichever amount you want and then I want you out of their lives within tomorrow so that they can complete the mating process with someone capable of standing beside them and being their mate— Fiona."

"You can offer me all the luxury in the world or even amount of entire kingdom and yours one yet I am never going to leave them because they are my Mates and even all the luxury in the world will not be enough to even have one single percent of chance to be compared the bond I have with them— Our souls are connected and meant to be together." I said fuming, not even caring about my harsh tone, "And you know what King Elijah? I don't even need to prove to you why I am with them because all that matters to me is what they think of me and they know the truth very well!"

"Good speech, now can you cut the crap and tell me what will make you spare my sons?" He asked

"Why don't you tell me what will make you accept my relationship with your sons as it is? What will be able to get you out of the delusion that whatever you are trying to do by trying to make them mark and accept someone else as their mate is good for them?!"

"You can't even match Fiona's toes, Jasmine. She is far more worthy than you to be the queen of this kingdom, which you are not."

"I really can't believe how a great ruler like you can be so insensible at some places. You are trying to find greed in the love I have for your sons but despite having so much intelligence you can't see through the fact that Fiona only agreed to be the mate of your sons because they are the rulers of the world's strongest kingdom they have built themselves with their blood and sweat!"

"If she is agreeing to be the mate for your sins despite knowing that God has sent her other half who might be eagerly what for his mate, what makes her a saint in your eyes? Do you have an answer to that?" I spat.

For the first time during this entire time if any sort of hesitance passed through King Elijah's expression it was this very moment.

He didn't seem to be able to come up with a response.

He fell silent but it did not mean his mind has changed in any way at all.

Of course, he was still adamant about his decision.

"You know what? How about I help you make your relationship better with your sons and you spare me some peace in return and let us be the way we are instead of trying to ruin our happiness because you think that you are right in every matter?"

This time what I said seemed to affect him; His stare changed, a look of anger and mixed emotions that I couldn't identify plastered on his face.

"Enough!" King Elijah said loudly, the glare set in his eyes, "Don't say another word about it. I know what's better for my sons and you should know that very well that you are not the one who's going to be their mate and sit on the throne of Black Vale Dynasty, I'll make sure of it."

"If that is so, then listen to me very carefully. They are mine, and I'd do anything and pass every boundary to make sure to claim what is mine even if it costs me my own life!" I said aloud.

"We'll see." With that challenging stare, he turned around and headed for the door.

"One more thing, King Elijah," I spoke and he halted at his place but he did not look back.

"Kindly, Just tell your beloved Fiona that she can shove up her dreams of being the mate of the vampire kings in her ass because she'll never get the place because what is mine will always remain mine, till the day I die and even after my death."

The signs of triggered anger appeared as he fisted his hands to his side but without saying another word he stormed out of the room.

As he left, I closed the door resting my back against it as I slowly let myself sit on the ground.

My uneven breathing and rage calmed down as the since engulfed the room once again in a never-receding way.

A lone tear slipped from my eye as a sign of the exhaustion from the continuous fight I was fighting with myself and against the stars in order to rewrite them.

I might have lost so many things in life but no matter what I was not going to lose this one— I was not going to let anyone take my mates away from me.
