The Unseen

Her spread-out white wings had left me stunned in my place, she looked....ethereal. Her blue were shining like crystals that'd been discovered from the depth of the sea that matched the sea-blue eyes of hers perfectly. Her skin shimmered as the rays from the sun fell on her skin.
A goddess of beauty and grace, the blue eyes and the innocence radiating from her as though she had landed straight from heaven....like an Angel.
"It all started when we moved into the bungalow in the hills, I didn't know the reason why we had moved there. Mom and used to always keep changing our locations, we didn't have any poverty, and my dad's business in the city was going well. He often used to out for work, but still, in between his hard work, he never failed to get time for us," She spoke, "The only reason I knew why they kept changing the location was because of my safety, they never took me out except for the night. Not that I complained, but I always had the curiosity why they kept me so secure."
A tear rolled down her cheek but she wiped it off, the melancholic smile settling on her lips, "Even in my childhood I understood that there was a risk on my life, dad used to keep a gun with him for our safety...if specifically, then my safety. I used to notice mom's hesitancy every time we went out as if she used to be scared of a storm that might tear our lives apart forever, even dad's continuous assurances wouldn't keep her restlessness away. They loved me a lot, more than their own lives." A sad chuckle slipped past her lips.
I wish I had anything to comfort her or wipe away her sadness, but I didn't have anything to do. No matter hard was it to accept but the biggest part of Isabelle's life had been spent in darkness.
"In the previous place we used to live in, some malicious people's eyes had fallen on me. Mom and dad told me that they were some packless Griffins who wanted to take me with them because they had noticed my locket that I was born with," She rubbed her fingers together with and this time the rays that radiated from her palm was so dense it almost made me want to close my eyes but I couldn't as my eyes fell on the locket that magically began flying in the air just where her palm was.
The locket looked as if the moon had landed straight inside of it. The shine, the beauty of it, and most importantly how rare it looked. I was speechless.
I had never seen something like this.....never.
"For some reason, I can remember every bit of my childhood. Starting from when I was only one year old. And this locket was another gift I was born with, in our previous city mom and dad took me to a pastor of the Church and he told them to keep me safe and especially this locket out of anyone's reach who can misuse the powers. So I started keeping this locket hidden," She spoke, holding the chain of the locket and looking at it, "I don't know how to use this or what it could help me in, but the thing I was aware of was that this can give supreme power to anyone. I was blessed with this locket so that I could hand it to someone who can help others and use it properly. And the people who somehow got to know about it certainly weren't the ones who would use it to help others. They were evil."
"Over the years, many people threatened my parents because of it. They wanted to take me away, they could only snatch the lock from me once I turned 20 and that's why they wanted to take me away so that they could get access to the powers this locket could give them." She sniffled the knot in my chest tightened to the extreme. God if only I could do something to wipe her tears away.
"My parents kept changing locations to save me. We used to barely stay a few months in one location and when after running for years we had moved into the bungalow in the hills, my parents promised me and my sister that we were going to stay there for a long time but we didn't know that we moved into something even more hazardous than the risks we had faced before," Her voice shook, the terror hiding beneath those words evident than ever, "Something so darker that torn everything apart."
Flashback
Isabelle
Orabelle came running into my room locking the door soon as she entered the room.
"Look what I have managed to steal from the drawer," She jumped up and down on my bed showing me the two bars of chocolate in her hand. The excitement thrilled inside of me, I joined her jumps too and she willingly handed me one of the bars keeping the smaller one for herself and handing me the big one like always.
As we both began enjoying the chocolates in our hands, Orabelle finally put her demand like always.
"Now that you have got the bigger piece, do that thing you do with your wings," She excitedly began, her pupils dilating.
She'd always been obsessed with my wings, so much that she had to see them once in every few hours by different excuse. My wings fascinated her.
"Let me eat first," I spoke with my mouth full of chocolate.
"No, do it now," She whined, "Pretty please."
I looked at the chocolate then at Orabelle, the small debate I ran in my head came to an end and I agreed on fulfilling her request like every other time.
I opened the chain of my dress and let my wings make their way out of my skin, my wings spread out and as always Orabelle's pupils dilated in awe. She eagerly clapped with her hands as I let my wings cover my body coming in front before quickly retracting them and flapping them.
As if she enjoyed the show, she jumped up and down on the bed causing it to bounce and laughter tore from my throat as the dancing of the bed caused me to bounce too.
Suddenly the twisting of the doorknob caused both of us to freeze, as we had thought mom entered the room.
Her eyes straight landed on my wings then at the window, the gasp tore from her mouth and she ran for the open window and hastily pulled down the curtains.
"How many times do I have to tell both of you that do not do things like this outside or with the windows open?" She scolded coming and standing in front of the bed, both hands resting on her hips glaring at the two of us, "And who got these chocolates? Didn't I tell you both that no more chocolates for today?"
We both sensed the danger without further ado, I and Orabelle ran out of the room giggling as we brushed past mom escaping her attempt to stop her.
"Isabelle and Orabelle, I said come here right!" She strode behind us.
Orabelle ran and hid behind the pillar and I ran around the hall.
"You two are getting too notorious these days, I am going to complain to your dad!" Her threat caused another giggle to slip past my lips and before I could fly using my wings, very familiar hands picked me up.
"Now what did my princess do, my love?" Dad's voice made me look at him.
"Papa," I giggled and hugged him, "Momma's mad," I whispered to him as my eyes fell on mom's seemingly perpetual frown that'd settled on her face.
"I think so too," He whispered back.
"You are the main culprit Brandon, you never say anything to them.Do you know what they were doing?" Mom's glare settled on dad, who now took his lips inside of his mouth to stop his laughter. In the meantime, Orabelle hid behind using his frame as a safety shield.
"I have kept their chocolates hidden only because these two mischiefs are eating dozens of them in a day, and your somewhere they always sneak their way to get them!" Mom's pout appeared on her lips.
"Princesses is what is your mom saying true?" Dad glanced at me then at Orabelle who only flashed a sheepish smile in return and I hid the chocolate bar in my hand behind me.
That 8-year old I couldn't understand that my dad had already noticed it and the smudge of chocolate on my cheek was more of proof for my and Orabelle's deed.
"And why're your wings out?"He asked.
"We were playing," I lied trying to save both of us from the upcoming scolding.
"The window was completely open, Brandon. And these two mischiefs didn't even bother closing it despite how many times I have told them to be careful about it." Mom sighed out, "They don't even understand how much of risk that could bring upon them."
"Samantha, It's okay. I will take care of it," Dad gently put me down on my feet and made Orabelle stand beside me.
"You both know that not everyone out there is nice, and if someone gets to know about the specialties you have they'd try to hurt you, sweetheart." Dad caressed my cheek before he looked at Orabelle, "And Orabelle, you are her elder sister right? Then why you should be careful about Isabelle's safety. You know that some people might try to hurt your sister, don't you?"
She glanced at me, a look of guilt crossing her expression before she nodded.
"So promise me you are going to protect your sister and take care of her and her safety from now on." He held out his pinky to her and she locked it with her one.
"Promise," She spoke.
"And you my little angel, first of all, take your wings back," He looked at me and I instantly retracted them into my back hiding them under my skin always," And promise me you are not going to let your wings out unless you feel it's safe." He repeated his prior action and I locked my pinky with his one just like Orabelle had done previously.
"Okay, Papa," I nodded and the smile stretched on his lips.
"Now you two, go and say sorry to your mom." Soon as he finished his sentence, I and my sister both hugged her. Because of my small height, I only reached her belly and Orabelle a little higher than that.
"Sorry, momma," We both spoke in unison looking up at her.
I could see she was trying to hold onto the anger on her face but in the end, as always her anger melted and she sat on her knees to somehow match our height.
"It's okay, now come here," She pulled both of us in her arms, her heartwarming smile was back on her face and the same smile tugged at mine and Orabelle's face that caused them happiness in her eyes to brighten.
"You two have got chocolate all over teeth," She chuckled leaning in to place a kiss on our cheeks, "I love you."
"We love you too, momma," Again our words came in unison as we there ourselves on her frame, causing another laughter to tore from her throat.
"No love for pappa huh?"Dad faked a sad voice, causing all three of us to erupt in laughter.
I ran into his arms and he picked me up, and he used his other arm to lift Orabelle.
"Now that I have got both of my Princess here, we are going to be clicking some pictures." He walked and made us seat on the couch situated in the middle of the hall.
He set the timer of the camera and walked over to me before he made me sit on his lap.
"You have got a cute little chocolate smudge here, little one," He pointed at my cheek, "But you are cute, as always," His comment made the giggle tear from my throat and I looked at the camera. The time ended and the flash of the camera indicated the picture was taken.
Without letting another second pass, I ran for the camera and raised it to see our picture.
"I am gonna frame it in my room! Yay!" I clapped and jumped up and down in my place whilst my parents only looked at me smiling adoringly, Orabelle had always joined my cheers.
Little did I know, that was the last picture of us clicked together and everything was going to be taken away from me in a matter of 72 hours?

The tears had begun pouring like a waterfall from her eyes, the amount of hurt and dismay she was going through was vivid in her expression.
"Everything was going fine, at least that was what I had thought because I didn't know about the threats mom and dad were receiving from those....those Lycans who roamed around the hills for some motive we were unaware of. They worked for him..." Her voice trembled, "He wanted the locket, and he offered my mom and dad so much luxury that might even their whole lives to earn despite having a successful business. But my mom and dad didn't agree, so that night....." The first sob escaped her.
I instantly leaned closer, cupping her now tear-stained face in my hands and gently brushing her tears away with the pad of my thumb.
"Tell me, love," I murmured pressing my forehead against her, "I am here."
"That night turned my whole life upside down...just like those monsters of the dark they shadowed my whole life in the darkness and took my parents away..." She inhaled a deep breath before she began telling me the story of her life that made every cell in my blood get cold at the descriptions of the brutal events she'd faced...
