A Clue

Kaden

The presence of two people was what could realize whilst my senses were slowly stirring awake. The second thing I could acknowledge was the chains that hook was clipped around my wrists keeping me up whilst two more chains were around my body, from the weight of the chains I could visualize it that the people's whole had put me to this stage were pretty much coward.

I forced my eyes open, there was a singing sensation at the back of my head and I could feel the blood sliding down the back of my neck from the wound that the impact caused.

My stare followed the chains, they were securely pinned to the walls, the chains that wrapped around my chest and back were tightly clipped with the wall behind my back.

It was a cell--From the structure, I could tell it was the one where the most dangerous prisoners were kept.

And then I finally spotted the two guards who seemed to notice my awakening.

Werewolfs....the smell that radiated from them was of werewolves....

"He's awake," One of the guards told the other one and then they walked closer to me.

"King is going to be so happy when he'll find out that we managed to capture this Lycan." The other one spoke, I could see the grin on their faces,"He's definitely going to reward us with gold."

Greed...

Yes, Greed is what leads one to the last stage of their life--The dangerous and unpredictable one they can't realize waiting ahead for them until they reach it.

"We have to tell him soon as he arrives," The one who had a whiter skin tone rubbed his palm together, the eagerness swirling in orbs.

"You are Kaden Moretti, Aren't you?" The other guard asked walking closer and putting the edge of the sword beside my neck as if trying to get any feared reaction out of me.

I did not say anything.

I only looked. Measuring his face and remembering the details so that I could wreck them very properly.

"Speak up!" The other guard ordered.

They of course did not know what was waiting for them...

Just because of their greed, I missed the chance to save Isabelle. She was right in front of my eyes but I couldn't get to her only because of these two greedy and selfish beings.

They didn't know that their wish to please their King and earn some luxury was now going to cost them their lives.

"He won't speak like this, he needs a lesson," The guard holding the sword decided to make the stupidest move and raised his fist in the intention to make an impact with my face.

His fist collided with my jaw but it didn't affect me, not even the slightest and my face didn't even moved because of the impact. The mere difference was the tightening of my jaw.

The guard looked shocked but he quickly recovered and raised his fist to punch me again.

But it couldn't be possible as with a swift motion I stroked his head with mine, the impact made him lose his balance and left him taking a few steps backward dropping the knife on the way whilst the shock shaded the other guard's expression.

My Lycan was fully deranged at this point. No boundaries or necessity to hold back, the beast hiding underneath my skin was awakened to the point where I had no control over myself, and neither did I want to have any.

Before the other could even respond or any of them could do anything, I wrapped my hands around the chains and pulled a them with all of my strength.

The sound of the walls being cracked from the middle broke harshly through the short-lasting silence, the hook of the chain that was attached to the wall loosened but it was not fully broken.

I glanced at the guards, their eyes had widened in shock and their feet seemed to be frozen in terror.

I pulled at the heavy metal chains for the second time and this time one of the hooks of the chain had fallen off but the other ones locking my both hands were still intact.

The impatience, the need to rescue Isabelle, and the image of her tear-stained face. Everything attacked me from all sides resulting the growl that rumbled in my chest and erupted from my mouth.

The next moment I pulled at the chain for one last time, faster than ever my movement caused the chains to break and flew to the opposite walls hitting against them and dropping on the ground.

With another swift jerk, I moved my shoulders moving forward and the last chains holding me back were broken.

Nothing was there to hold me back, the two guards seemed to recover from the shock-covered haze but it did not allow them enough senses to run for their life.

One of them made the stupidest move and decided to advance toward me with the sword. He attempted to attack me on the neck but I grabbed the edge of it stopping it just where it was, inches away from my skin.

The blood that began dripping from my palm down onto my shoulder did not bother me.

In front of my eyes, all I saw was red.

The vicious rage that awakened my feral who knew no bounds, no boundaries, and no mercy.....

The guard used his other hand to help his strength advance the sword but when he noticed he couldn't win he let go of the sword taking a few steps backward.

The raw panic cloaked his restless eyes. The slight shaking of his hands did not go unnoticed.

The other guard only looked at the scene, glancing at me then at his companion whose features were draped in alarmed expression.

He look scared for the life that he was going to lose within a few seconds.

I took one step forwards, the pace of his breathing and racing heart increased. He took one multiple backward and before he could run away I grabbed his throat. The bones suppressing beneath the bundle of nerves and thick skin began to crack.

He struggled in my grip, trying to breathe but his attempts all went in vain--I raised him off of his feet and held him just like that. Watching him slowly lose his consciousness and the blue color shading his face.

The lack of oxygen and the lack of hope caused his attempts to get lighter. As much as I liked the scenery of this creature slowly descending to its last breath, I wanted to see him suffer more.

The small smirk on my appeared and loosened my grip on his throat allowing him some space to intake air and as expected he tried to take the opportunity as an escape for him.

His hands held mine that had its hold on his throat and sharpening his nails she dug them into my hand.

My smirk widened and without the delay of a second, I threw him against the wall.

His body crashed against the stoned surface causing a garish sound to echo the place, a scream that seemed more like a howl slipped past his lips.

As his body slowly slid down, I saw the blood that left a trail on the wall. The sound of his wounds trying to heal themselves was heard but too bad, it was too bad to be healed.

I stalked towards him, he tried to sit up but his small attempt failed to cause him to land on the same surface again.

Bending down I grabbed onto the back of his neck and raised him to his feet, I could feel his blood dripping down and gathering against my palm. Pathetic.

"Happy journey..." I smiled and using my other hand I turned his head all the way backward before tearing it apart from his body.

The loud cracking sound of his neck bone reached my ear, the satisfaction became more apparent once I saw the headless figure and the raw blood oozing.

The animalistic growl of my feral rumbled against my chest and let the now the latest lifeless body fall to the ground.

And then my eyes fell on the other guard, whose ice on his feet seemed to get melted right after noticing my stare.

He took multiple steps backward, and as the senses finally kicked him he ran out of the cell at full speed.

A chuckle tore from my throat and then I began chasing him, the scared movements of his and breathing coming out as pants like prey made it even more exciting to chase him before I'd finally kill him.

I finally got a hold of him once we'd reached the end of the prison, with my sharp nails I drew sharp cuts on the back of his head. This resulted in him falling to the ground with his face whilst he groaned in pain.

I found raising him the next moment and slamming him against the door of the entrance, this made another painful would tear from his mouth.

Just when I was about to tear his head from his filthy body, A voice made me stop in my place.

"Kaden..." Cassandra rushed voice reached my ears and my movements froze.

My gaze slowly moved to spot Cassandra standing a few feet away whilst Jason and Carter rushed inside.

"What are you doing? Where's Isabelle?" Jason asked as he reached towards me? His eyes were wide as he looked at the state of the guard who was gasping for air.

"I almost found her but the greed of these guards made me lose her again!" The growl automatically left my mouth," I won't spare him, one has already reached his destination."

I moved to break the bone of his neck but Jason and Cassandra both stopped me.

"Kaden, wait..." Jason grabbed my hand, my other hand remained on its place holding the guard up against the wall.

"What do you mean, where is Isabelle?" Cassandra asked.

"Those monsters have taken her away, I don't know where! She was right in front of my eyes when this greedy bastard and his companion hit me on the back of my head." I spoke through gritted teeth, my anger surfacing and my grip tightening around the guard's throat.

"The palace was empty, they must've taken the guards with them. We can ask this guard, he might have some idea of where they have taken her!" Carter asked.

The statement of Carter seemed to raise the hopes in my heart, I looked at the guard than at them. The intense urge to kill this greedy creature was uncontrollable, but I couldn't miss any chances that could lead me to my mate.

"Kaden, let him go. We need to know where Isabelle is. We can't lose control like this." Cassandra spoke.

It took everything inside of me to get a hold of my feral and let the guard down without tearing him into pieces, he greedily breathed in the oxygen holding his throat as if the spot had been burned.

His eyes still wide in horror as he glanced at me.

"If you want to stay alive then tell us where to have Alistair and his brothers taken Isabelle." Jason spoke, grabbing the guard's collar and raising him to his feet.

He shook his head,"I-I don't..."

Before he could even complete my Lycan took over "Where have they taken her? Tell me!" I growled attempting to pounce at him but Carter stopped me.

"Kaden, stop! We need him alive to get our answers." He put his arm as a boundary between the guard and me, stopping me from reaching him.

On one hand, there was this intense urge where I wanted nothing other than to kill this guard but on the other hand, there was this mere hope of knowing where they have taken Isabelle.

The want to find my mate won again and I took a few steps back to get a hold of my feral, keep my calm that had vanished from the minute Isabelle was out of my sight.

"Don't waste our time, just tell us where they have taken Isabelle. We'll let you go alive." Jason spoke his darkening that prompted the fear in the guard's eyes.

"I don't know," The guard rushed out, "The king hasn't told any of us in fact, almost all the guards were instructed to stay away from the palace. The few that Kings have taken with them are the only ones who know the location."

"You must have some clues, try to remember otherwise we won't have many reasons to share you!" Carter said, his nails extended and the fear in the wolf's eyes became even more evident.

"I swear I have no idea, it was kept a secret." He spoke out.

"Try to remember, anything that you might have heard them talking about, any clue. John St think." Cassandra pressed.

The went silent for a second before shaking his head, "I don't even know who the girl is, I was new in this palace."

And the restraints I have put around as chains around the beast inside me broke.

This guard was of no use. The rage inside of me was so intense that I could not even feel the heed to decide between right or wrong.

"Still you decided to interfere, still you decided to stop me from saving my mate," I growled out, "You've written your death the moment you committed something like that, you don't deserve to live!"

In a flash, I pushed Jason and Carter away and held the guard against the wall, and with my other hand, I tore his head away from his body causing his blood to leave a splatter on my face.

"Kaden...No!" Cassandra and Jason's voice reached my ears a little too late than my rapid movement.

The guard's head landed against Carter's feet and he looked at it with shock evident on his features as if everything had happened so fast that he had barely registered it.

I let go of the body and it dropped on the floor, the black blood now polling under my shoes. The metallic smell of it filled the atmosphere and the satisfaction reached my nerves.

"What did you do?! He was our last hope!" Cassandra shouted, frustrated.

"He was not our last hope, he didn't know anything!" I shouted back, the desperation and restlessness taking over.

"How will we know about Isabelle's location?! We can't even go back to Baron, it'd be too late!" Jason sighed rubbing his face, the defeated sound of him matched the silence that'd widespread in me.

"I don't know! I have lost her!" I punched the wall and the sound broke through, the stoned surface left my knuckles bruised but I was too in pain to realize that.

The thought of losing Isabelle eat me up.

I couldn't think of living without her. I had promised to save her......

"Kaden, try to remember what Alistair has said that day. Anything suspicious, any clue he might have laid beneath his twisted words." Cassandra spoke after a moment.

"I don't know," I was almost losing it, I didn't want the tears to gather in my eyes but the thought of losing my mate forever indeed hurt. Losing her would mean losing my life.

"Try to remember, Kaden. There has to be something, he told the guards to stay away from the palace which means he wanted you to reach her. His main motive was something else. Maybe he wants us to reach him....." Jason said.

"He didn't say anything like...." My words remained untold at the tip of my tongue as the slow flashback of Alistair's last words before he took away Isabelle swept through my remembrance.

"It all will end where it started....."

My brows rose and my eyes widened in realization. Isabelle's words the day she showed me her wings.

"It all started when we moved to the bungalow in the hills...."

The Bungalow......

The Bungalow where she used to live, Yes. They must have taken her to the bungalow, as vicious and sadistic they were they would definitely want to trigger the previous wounds before giving her the new ones.

They wanted to stir those memories awake so that they could weaken Isabelle.

I couldn't let this happen! No, I won't let this happen.

"The bungalow in the hills, he said he'd end everything where it started and Alistair landed his eyes on Isabelle once she and her family moved to that Bungalow," I spoke out.

"They took her to the same damn place where they killed her parents, bloody monsters!"Carter cursed.

"We have to go to the bungalow, right now!"
